So I've been gone from the game for some time, but I'm back now and I need to make some iskies. I can fly all ships barring t2 battleships. In the past I remember caldari boats being the go to pve option and I think my best bet is to go with a tengu or a nighthawk for level 4's. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to use and how to fit it. I would like to clear missions quickly as opposed to tank it to death (like I used to with my slow ass dominix).
If I can keep the cost below 4-500m that would be spectacular. Thanks for the help guys =D |

I agree with the raven assessment for cost, but if you REALLY want to tengu, this fit still works well as a base plate - adjust per cost/skills as required.

Edit: I see it reads as if you have solid gallente skills too. Again, budget is out but consider a rattler - with the new DDA's and MJD they are hilarious. Although the jury is out on if the MJD can stay that good (IMHO) - It's trivialising many missions for drone hulls & sentries. |

T2 tengu is probably the better . Lower sig and faster maneuverability. I don't know if that fits into the budget, but I have run several of level 4's in mine. Raven or raven navy is a good ship though. |

Imo, HML Tengu is obsolete after last expansion. HAMGu is the way to go now for that hull. |

Cool, as a new drake pilot with 2m sp looking for a battleship to train into, I was just about to ask the same question as OP. From what I've read though, the Raven is a very PvE oriented battleship, which seems to make it unsuitable for venturing into PvE areas in low sec. How does the raven compare against other battleships that can both PvE and PvP like the dominix, megathron or abaddon? |

Yeah I understand that, I never said I was going into lowsec alone. I was just asking whether a group of ravens would be more susceptible to a low sec gank than a group of other battleships with better PvP capabilities, and whether the raven is sufficiently better at PvE to justify using anyway. |

There is no golden bullet. I can see a bunch of ac boats setup for pvp slaughtering your gang of pve arti battleships.
So. Either you plan on pvp. Or you plan on pve and run to station when confronted with pvp. Focus on what you want to do. Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat dessert first! |

Seeing as you said missile based, CNR is your best bet DUST514 isn't on PC because CCP wants 2 different communities influencing each other, not people tabbing out to give themselves Orbital Strikes. (Also they don't want to cannibalise their existing playerbase) |

HML Tengu is still good ship, especially if you are lazy and cant be arsed to fiddle with different type of resists all the time.
Once any dps gets over 600-700 and dmg application is good then there is really really small difference in mission completion times if you push it further. Couple of minutes here or there is noting.
Also HAM tengu is reallllly great on paper and even with max rigs, hitting 1000 dps over 30 km is... meh. I am personally so lazy that I just hate chasing rats around.
HAM ammo is also so expensive that in random extravaganza mission you can waste 3-4 mil isk on ammo itself.
proper CNR or Golem > Tengu anytime today. If properly fitted and tanked. |

Been a while since I rolled in a raven, so this is possibly a little dated but:

Scorpion Navy Isue.
The hull it self is arround 300/400 mil isk. But you can start out with T2 it and work up rom there.
- It has a better Tank
-Enough midslots to fit a couple of Target painters
- More Fitting space than a normal Raven,
- is better at hitting smaller targets, even better than an CNR.

Basically this:
If it's a missile ship that's Caldari and t2 cruiser, t1 bc, t3, battleship, marauder, faction/pirate bs, then it will do lvl4's. Some ships are better than others, but it really all depends on how you run missions and your skills. Personally I like the torp golem, cnr, and HAMgu (with the tengu being my fotm).
Right now the fotm's in general are the pulse tanked rigor raven (solid as ever), HAM Tengu (since retribution buffed unguided missiles), sni(raven dps with rattler tank), and cnr (solid as the raven with more tank and dps, and cheap for a navy ship). Other fan favorites include the golem(another solid choice given recent torp buff), and rattler (massive tank and sentry dps with new drone mods - although drones are hard to manage now bc of the new ai) |

I don't know about Golem, but a proper CNR cannot compete with a Tengu. The tengu is faster (no slowboating anymore) has better damage projection, and with proper skills faction HAMS can reach nearly 40 km (same than the golem) Fit javelins (as you do in the Golem) in case you need more range.
The ammo bill is similar to the CNR if you compare the same ammo types (faction vs faction or T2 vs T2)
And most importantly, flying a HAMgu is a bit funnier than orbiting a wreck and pressing F1 all the time. Rat smashing is boring, but with a tengu is a bit less boring.
