Try to look at the positives this patch brought. LOTS of new content, its an exciting time for Eve players. I only see Raven users moaning, and I can understand this. However, even I got bored being able to watch TV and do a lvl 4 mission solo, so much I stopped playing throug boredom!
My solution? Train up for different roles. I now am able to use covert ops frigs, can mine in a large barge, and am very close to Logistics Cruisers (though I dont know how useful they are!).
Variety is the spice of life, if you are upset at the nerf to Raven's, you are in a rut. Get out more, and vary what you do!

hehe, my wife canceled her account lastnight after spent over an hour to her mining spot which used to take only 5 jumps. Took me 2 months to get her into the game and all at lost due to this patch. For people who only got around 3-4 hours per night to play, the travel time alone is a killer. Wonder if ccp ever thought about that.

Ever thought of setting up another base nearing to ur mining spot? The whole point of the empire route changes was to regionalise empire, rather than having one big blob and a few key systems (yulai + nonni etc)

They want to promote regional markets, so I would say they did think of it.

I'm sure CCP probably thought that people would be sensible enough to adapt to the changes rather than simply quitting because they didn't think to find another mining spot that is less jumps away.

Yes they thought about that! That's why you have Outpost and Starbases.

Then fix it. Set the chat channel to text only and remove the character pictures on the chat window (not chat list. Set the font to a smaller sized font (there are three chat sizes aa aA and AA).

I am concidering joining your wife (no pun intended) All you people that say adapt or find a new base etc etc are missing the point. those of us with only a few hrs to play dont want to spend 70-85% of that time traveling.

then don't travel. It's not that you HAVE to move from one end of a UNIVERSE to the other in a matter of a few hours. Set up Courier missions if you want to have your stuff moved back to you. It costs a bit, but saves you time. Stick to the Region you're in.
I've done that kind of my whole life in EVE, even with the Highways in place. It's not that you can't do stuff because travelling the highway is no longer possible...

This aint a whine ok, just the way it is. Cold War just crapped on my last 4 months of training, i'n not training another 4 months for them to nerf me again, that was the last nail for me. Gutted. This aint a call for change or unnerf, it's to late. Cancelled already good luck EVE

I have to aggree ihave not long been playing my self only a month or so, and i thought travel times where bad before, but now they are ten simte worse.
I would not mind be being limited to warping to with in only 15k of an object sucks, this has to be the biggest time sink ever, the whole point of this patch seems to be to make things take longer tokeep you playing longer when all it really makes you want to do is quit.

The new jumps are more emulative of the way Eve originally was, and thus the original vision for eve. The only reason the highways even existed is because of the huge amounts of whining by the earlier, and smaller community. Eve is large enough now to support a variety of regions effectively, the old problem of having very poorly populated systems all over and the lack of an ability to quickly group together has been eliminated. Eve shouldnt be able to be traversed in an hour or so.
Localize, you dont need to be living in Amarr space and traveling over to Gallente space every day just to mine. Do things in your own area. These changes were announced some time ago, enough that you should have known the empires were to be separated again.
In reality this is a step in the right direction, now markets will diversify, smaller people will have a chance(as one of the mondo tycoons wont be as likely to come in and crush their crappy poduction line), races will begin to primarily populate the space that they belong to again, etc, etc.
The patch has been deployed for 10 or so hours, and already people are whining and saying that they are canceling accounts.
Think of a parallel in life, OHHH NOES!!!! THEY CHANGED THE TABLE ARRANGEMENT AT DENNY'S!!! IM NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN!!! *Kills Self*
Calm down and let things sink in I say. Looking at past trends I can say that a portion of those leaving will come back a number of months down the road. If you are this miffed by changes you should feel free to take a break, change corps, change professions, etc.

What I don't understand is why people are so fixed on Travel times when they indeed miss the Highways.
Travel times are *completely* the same for me, as I hardly used the Highways anyway (nothing of interest in Yulai despite the lag of 200 ppl piling up there..., and what the heck is my bussiness in Caldari Space when everything is placed in Amarr?)
The whole traveltime within the Regions hasn't been changed at all. The missing Highways open up new opportunities, they encourage Trade and in the end probably reduce travel times, as there will be traders that get stuff to different regions if demand is high enough.

Hi.
If you are quitting because your uber raven is "nerfed" (its actually much better), or because of long travel times, let me solve your problems.
1) Train missile skills, use cruise, use 2 small guns and drones, wow raven owns all again.
2) Stop trying to go from one side of eve to the other. Stop trying to go to yulai for everything. You dont NEED to go 30 jumps, for anything. Prices in yulai have already jumped to like 2x what they previously were before the patch, so STOP GOING THERE.

All I can say is, what a waste of time. What is the point in training a skill for months only to have it all go down the drain. Nah! This account is paid up for a year, but my other two are gone.
I have had it with nerfs to this and nerfs to that. Talk about a stunning lack of realism. How is it I can go to bed one night, wake up the next day and certain of my modules no longer function??? What a load of BS. -and I don't mean BattleShips!
There's just no reason to log in to EVE any more. I will continue to train this character for the remainder of the year, but to what purpose?

Oh, so you lost your Caldari BS Skill, your complete Missile Skills and such? you know, I'd petition that. If you complain about that you have to train maybe 3 or 4 rank 2 skills to lvl 3... well, just try it and you might notice that you are better than before...
to be honest, if someone quits over that I hardly believe that they really enjoyed EVE before at all...

The only ppl I really see complaining are the raven pilots, or pilots who dedicated their PvP/PvE experience to training 3 skills. Missile Launcher Op 5, Torps 5, Cruise Missile 5. Fair enough. Most of the ppl I see complaining never flew Tempests anyways, and even fewer of those pilots flew Tempests before the projo nerf.
Get over it. Everyone else's BS's in this game have been nerfed before. Now the Raven got nerfed. It's not like CCP didn't give you extra skills to compensate. And it's not like you didn't see this coming, it's been public knowledge for months I believe.
So you have to train skills just to get it back on par with what the ship used to be. Weclome to the ever changing game of Eve, where no one stays "top dog" forever.
It' not like all of a sudden ppl aren't making any isk anymore. Find out how to get around the system.

The patch brought more toys to the people that enjoy blowing other things up, and nothing wrong with that.
I dont see anything new in the patch that will make me change my day in eve from what i did before, there are still no reason for me to go to 0.0, sure the ones trying to kill me out there got better and bigger guns to do it with, but my hauler is the same, my mining ship are the same. And i can not see any reason to waste isk on outposts so that other people have something to use their new toys on.
I dont mind the combatants od eve getting new toys to play with, but i wont pay for the account or spend time in eve to be their target. I bet im in the same boat as many others in eve. I will keep paying for the account keep playing and having fun but never leave secure space to do it, why? well basically because combat in a Mining barge vs battleships and soon to come dreadnoughts is not fun. if the tendency of the game develoupment is continuing down the path it seams to go, i probably will keep on playing and paying for a while more, until the game mechanics force me to play the target others can shoot and stop being fun so i go look for other places to have fun.
handing out bigger toys before they deal with problems this game have, like gate camping dont help, now the gate campers have bigger guns to do it with, probably fun for them but it will not make more people go there thats for sure. Forcing me to go through areas i know might be gate camped, just make me look for other options, not go there. Sendinf me in to the same areas by using the mission agents will only make me ignore the mission and take the standing hit, in time ignore standing and in time lose interest in doing missions at all.
hopefully the next patch they grant us will deal with one of the many problems in the game, instead of giving us more, or maybe they give us some of the things promissed in the exodus patch but was noted as being delayed and still are.
this patch didnt change anything, there will still be miners and constructers hiding in secure space to do their job, and there wills till be pirates camping gates in 0.0 getting angry with all the carebears that never come around their gates so they can shoot them, or they make alts to go do ccp number one protected activity and go steal the ore from the carebears jet can mining so ccp dont have to deal with that problem either.
Cosmos = nothing new, nothing changed. (maybe we see a dreadnought or a new hauler in 5-6 months time when people have finished training the new skills for them but i doubt there will be many) and outposts, now tell me why would i want one?

The same general whining happen with each big patch/update. Some will quit, some will come back, some will adapt and enjoy.
The way EvE is going is for the best, whinings are inevitable.

This new patch is the best yet.
If you have to travel for 80% of your time then think to yourself what are you doing wrong. You can do most common things within a few systems of each other.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

The more time you and I spend on travel, the lower the load is on the CCP servers. PvP and mining take up resources that CCP need to free up so they dont have to invest in computer systems that are capable of running their ever-expanding game.
Heres a quick example: In reading many of the prepatch posts, I got a feeling that making things 'take longer' was high on the list for CCP. So I timed a few warp jumps that I normally take. These jumps have nothing to do with the sudden shift in system locations (Interstellar Superhighway). They were just a jump from one gate to another.
After this patch, I tried the same jumps. Interesting.. a 50% increase in how much time the ship actually spends 'in warp'. No extra cap being used.. same distance from gate to gate. Yet a 50% increase in the 'warp drive active' sequence.
So.. not only do we have to go two and three times further to get from one region to another, but we can add even more time during the boring warp window.
Thanks alot CCP.. I'm gonna deal with it, but one more of these idiotic nerfs and this game is gonna be redundant.

I have to agree with most of the people here. If the new patch hit you hard in the travel times, then you're going to far anyway, or too often.
I suggest you mine/manufacture/loot for a while, build up a stockpile of stuff, buy a freighter or indy with a good cargo capacity, and spend a day hauling it all to where you need it. Or even better, drag it to a central system in your local area and just put it all up for sale. Spread the word that you have a bunch of minerals/items for sale there, maybe some locals will come by and look. If they buy stuff, maybe they'll tell their friends and some local corps will start buying from you regular.
If your MO was to drag everything to Yulai and sell it for 0.01 ISK less than the lowest sell order, then you're out of luck. Figure out something new.

Well, there's a few bugs and, being a Caldari pilot, I'm a little irked by the missile changes, but what the hell, I'll train the new skills... The highways do make a large difference, as I am personally based in Lonetrek and my new corp and alliance is, err, not... But I'll adapt and get round things... The worst loss is all those useless instas I now have just when my alliance happens to be at war...
Well, life would be entirely dull without change!! Cheers,
