this post is here for me to appologize and congradulate INFI and BEER & KEBAB,

i have had a realisation - i want to be a space raider just like you.

I'm a totally boring carebear hanging i high-sec space, but is that really what I want to do? And why is everyone called pirates as soon as he/she blows up a ship or have a negative sec-rating?
I don't like going to low-sec space for one reason: As soon as you jump into a 0.4 system, you see 5-10 red-flashing icons just waiting for someone to show up so they have something to practice shooting at. It might be fun for them, but it's not fun being at the receiving end. This is the main reason why there are so few people in low-sec space I think. And I really don't see how it can be fun knowing that whoever comes into the system doesn't have a chance against the gang of "pirates". In my opinion gatecampers are even worse carebears than us mining in high-sec space. At least we do it on our own, not in gangs of 5 or more because we're afraid of actually having to put up a fight.
A fair fight is something else. I would really like to go PvP:ing knowing that I at least have a chance of putting up a fight. I don't mind having my Mega blown up after fighting an Apoc or a couple of frigs for 10 minutes. I have no intentions what so ever though to just give it away to a bunch of gatecampers.
If I'm able to get into low-sec space without having to flee to stay alive as soon as I go there, I think I could have some fun. I don't care if I lose a ship or two, or three. That's what the insurances are for.
We have alliances that guard their territories at chokepoints. Not fun either and also a reason why there aren't may people in low-sec space I think. Get rid of the chokepoints! Today the big and rich can defend their billion-ISK making POS networks and industries without any problems. What can a small noob mining corp do? Walk in there and claim a system? Theoretically yes, but with a little perspective you have to say no. We're stuck in high-sec space mining and providing for the equipment that is being blown up by "pirates" and everyone else in low-sec space having fun.
An alternative is of course to join another corp, pirate or non-pirate corp. But then you haven't accomplished anything really, you just jumped onto the ride the corp is already on.
I'm actually thinking of getting me a bunch of frigs and go suicide PvP:ing just for the heck of it. An MWD, a couple of warp scramblers might make me have a chance against someone as long as he/she is alone. Would that make me a pirate?
Who are pirates anyway? Guys warpscrambling someone for ransom? I think yes. Gatecampers? I think not, they are boring. Ore thieves? I think not, they are pathetic. Everyone with a negative sec-rating? I think not.
I think that many people see anyone with a bounty on his/her head, and/or anyone with a negative sec-rating as pirates. I don't think that's right. I think a minority of the players with bounties and red-flashing icons are pirates, the rest are something else. There are not just pirates and carebears in EVE, regardless of sec-rating and bounties. There is a wide variety of characters inbetween, and that is the beauty and the core of EVE. I would like to see much more PvP:ing, and not so much PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPvP:ing. I would like to go PvP:ing with someone that enjoys the fight itself, and not just the loot-collecting after an ambush.
Is there anyone else like me out there? Anyone else tired of gatecampers? Anyone else wanting to go PvP:ing but feel that you really can't? At least I will join Fight Club on the test server to get some kind of experience of fighting something else but NPC pirates in kill missions.
Flame me all you want. I will always think gatecampers are boring and that ore thieves are pathetic. And for all you real pirates: I don't necessarily like you, but I do respect you. You are an important part of the game.
I did not mean to hijack this thread at all. I just wanted to tell you my opinion about PvP, pirates, good vs bad, and so on. Feel free to show me the light! __________________________________________________________ Knowledge is when you don't know what you don't know. |

Tell me when to start fearing you. Then I'll remind you when people care whether or not you've seen a light or not. Now, B&K and INFOD, yeah, they make me nice and cautious, just the way they should, but some guy who just realized that mining is boring? Forget it. ---

I might be wrong, but I assume you mean me? If so, why should you fear me? Have I said anything that should make anyone fear me? I think not. Have I threatened anyone or said something to make me look like I can take on anyone in a near future? I think not. What I have said is the total opposite. Read my post again, carefully. Maybe then you will see that my point is that I would like to go PvP:ing, but that I feel that I can't for several reasons. I don't care about getting a reputation as someone who is good at PvP:ing. I'm looking for some good fun PvP:ing where you can enjoy the fight, laugh about it afterwards with your opponent, and where it doesn't matter if you loose or win as long as the fighting itself was fun.
And noob pirate? Well... Every pirate has been one once, right? And if there were no noob pirates, there would eventually not be any pirates at all in EVE when all the experienced players quit playing.
Once again: You totally missed my point. And about showing me the light: I really would like to be proven wrong. I really would like to be proven that I can go to low-sec space and being able to get a good fight, because that's what I would like to do sometimes. No ganking, no blowing up barges or haulers, but just a good ol' fight between a couple of guys enjoying the fight. Nothing more. __________________________________________________________ Knowledge is when you don't know what you don't know. |

I dont know about everyone else. But we make no diference between pirates and other targets. If you have not payed your a walid target. Pirate or no pirate!

Don't worry about him. His sole purpose is to spam every pie rat discussion with his less than witty remarks because the combination of "danger" in <0.5, his implants and lack of isk is ruining his eve experience - he p1sses his pants over the thought of losing the sacred plants. For his own good, I hope he gets podded; might enhance his gaming experience considerably and stop his silly posts.
