It is going to be truly interesting to watch this new process play out, and the summit was a good start (as people wil see when the minutes come out). But the next big test will be in the coming weeks as CCP develops its first expansion release plan using this new philosophy.
I think I can safely speak for my colleagues on the CSM when I say that we are all looking forward to being involved in this process, and keeping the community informed about its progress. The Sarcasm is Strong with Me GÇó Member of CSM 5-7 GÇó Blog |

This may be a little too little a little too late. The new AI is fun, but the drones cannot handle it. I enjoy the new level of interaction, but dispair fills me when the drones are whiped from the game with two shots. It may be fair to the npc's in the game and the fight, but recalling drones is often as pointless as launching them. My game play since the new AI has gone from regular to almost nothing. So I ask, is there a drone armor kit coming soon? |

To be honest, the drone nerf really dampened my desire to play Eve, but reading the Dev Blog has made me realize that I should stop whinging, HTFU and enjoy Eve for the wonderful gaming experience it is.
Here's to another 10 fanastic years for Eve and the great players who make Eve what it is. This is not a signature. |

Bloodpetal wrote: Taking what you did with the Inferno point releases and prepping the code foundations up to 6 months before release seems like a more plausible in scheduling, but also means CCP needs to know what they're doing *gasp* 12 months ahead of time?
Yes.
Quote: So, that means that Modular POS coding is already happening, to start on assets delivery in the winter sprints as we speak. But, according to CCP Seagull, apparently the expansion pre-production stage is starting up soon. Shouldn't that be for the Winter delivery pre-production planning?
Whatever is happening for the current expansion should already be 6 months in development (much like the foundation for Crimewatch was delivered in Summer while the actual changed landed in Winter).
Not exactly. Nothing should be assumed about what is or isn't in the pipeline at the moment. This is the -beginning- of a whole new process, a clean slate, this isn't the process that's been happening the last 6 months inside CCP. We'll be working with CCP to come up with the theme and feature set for summer, and by the time summer content is delivered, I'd imagine there will have been time to make much longer-term plans. However, the feature set for 2013 is very much -not- in stone at the moment.

This certainly looks like the right direction to me and I wish CCP Ripley & CCP Seagull every success in their new roles.
If Retribution could be considered as the prototype for the theme approach then the future looks very bright indeed.

Ummmmmm well there was Retribution, and all.
Seriously though, there has been a fair amount of pre-production and prototyping and experimentation with a lot of potential features that has taken place, some of which will no doubt be part of Summer expansion, but which of these features will be selected to flesh out and build the expansion around has yet to be determined. We saw lots of -options- at the summit, some of which will be outlined in the minutes, some of which will be NDA'd until CCP decides to go forward with them. honestly i don't see a big difference in the new process. Its rather like a consequence of realizing that there are some features on the TODO list which may take longer to develop as the typical expansion cycle. (but thats not a bad thing!)
anyway. cool stuff! keep up the good work and don't fear trendy low-risk experiments (kickstarter + WIS = ?) a eve-style bounty system https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=359105 You fail you fail you fail you fail you fail you fail you fail to jump because you are cloaked |

This strategy sounds awesome, as long as area doesn't lag behind the others (balancing mainly!)--otherwise, offering something for everyone to look forward to in each expansion is total win!

Can we get some sort of update about avatar game play? Something more concrete than the usual we promise to possibly deliver something at some point in some way?
There are a lot of players interested in seeing where this can go who have been left hanging.

From what I am reading here we will get a lot more "maintenance" patches, maybe a few more ships, slight changes to sovereignity mechanics etc but nothing new. I noticed that Incarna was not even mentioned as one of the milestones of past, only hinted as a source of drama and as something you seem to wish forget about.
That does not look good for the future of EVE, not good at all, especially not with strong competition arriving within the next 2 years. |

Quote:One thing which I need to make clear at this point is that all things are on the table as we continue to build and refine our product plans. Some people have been looking forward to Modular POSes, Ring Mining and a host of other things we have talked about during 2012 and before. These are things that we certainly want to tackle but the intention is that we wonGÇÖt deliver these things in one almighty release and we're looking at everything from a fresh perspective.
So what you're saying is we're not getting a pos overhaul this year.
You can't iterate to that from the current system, it needs to be torn out and replaced. Secretary - Goonswarm Federation Corps Diplomatique |

Definitely a fan of this iterative process. It's great to see that CCP is willing to do a bit of restructuring in order to accomplish continually updated goals.
I hope that this leads to some ambitious and enjoyable content in the coming year(s).
