The sandbox only extends so far, Dust is not a sandbox.....and so you won't ever have free access to kill them.

no, really, straightforward question. what does it take to get you to travel to a known location, and accept the risk of losing your ship and pod. say, destroyer and +3% 's

It only disabled the Star Destroyers so their ships could escape.

The focus of most information about DUST has been on the particulars of the upcoming release, so it's impact on Null hasn't really been kicked around much lately... but it has been an eventual design goal since the project was first announced. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Tell ya what, i won't be the first one to test that theory out . Reminds me of the ion cannon in star wars taking otu the star cruiser in 2 shots well. according to story these DUST 514 planets are in war-zone. This zone is getting captured/recaptured every day. In RL it means burned ground with destroyed infrastructure and dead bodies everywhere.
This means that there should not always be heavy defense on planet.
However like in RL after capturing of an object people usually starts to build defense. So let's say planet (i mean planet owner) can defend itself as stronger as higher influence level of owner militia over the system.
Something like that. Can't speak about sovereignty details of FW (never looked at it). |

Star Wars Lore 101: ion cannon technology is designed to knock out electronic systems, disabling ships. Good quality ion cannons are capable of ignoring particle shields, and at time, using shield energy to boost the disabling effects. Usually, for a cannon the size of the one on Hoth, anything more than one or two shots to disable a star destroyer would be a unique proposition. These effects are usually temporary, like an overload instead of an EM pulse, and system restart is usually possible for larger ships with sufficient power systems within a few minutes. The ion cannons of Hoth were specifically installed for the purpose of making a hasty escape if Echo Base was discovered by the empire by disabling Imperial vessels (especially possible interdictors) to make evacuation more survivable. At the time Echo Base was established, the Rebel Alliance had little to no real fleet to fight an attacking force, so the only option was evacuation. You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |

Yanno, if I'm going to be knocking folks' shields flat and shafting their C3I systems, I'm probably going to follow-up with something that possesses a bit of KE, too - Just to leave my John Hancock, yanno? Something in in a nice shade of "highly energetic plasma" seems appropiate for the occasion... Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. That sounds exactly like this game with spaceships...I think it was Eve Online. New inventory: Getting better since version 1.2, but what about back and forward buttons? |
