I guess New York has blown it. Paris and London look like the clear leaders with Madrid and Moscow fighting for 4th. If Paris wins (most likely) then it's just a train ride away (from me) on the Eurostar. If London wins (least likely), then my whole neighbourhood is going to be turned upside down. I live right in the regeneration zone.

If London wins it, just rent your house out to some wealthy foreigners and go off on holiday for a couple of weeks.

London won't win.
They screwed it up a few years ago with the world championships, lots of promises that were never kept.
While granted the olympics are a different kettle of fish, mud sticks.
Paris for me. ------------------------

Think of the value of your house/flat once they've built trendy shops next door.
London will be like England in any Football tournament, good to the semis, then out on penalties. :(

The IOC are very keen seen to establish legacies wherever the Olympic games go. For this reason alone, London stands a real chance of usurping Paris at the post.

Coming from London, I don't believe it'll happen here. I think Paris will get it, for the same reasons they got Eurodisney (whether or not that's worth mentioning is probably off-topic ). It's continental, thus more easily accessed by every other european country excepting the UK and Ireland. If London hosted it, it would cost 3x as much, the stadiums wouldn't be ready in time, they'd be falling apart before they were finished, they'd probably go on former landfill sites and be closed after the Olympic games is over, and/or turned into expensive 1-2 bedroom apartments.
I thought it was quite funny that all road works were *stopped* during the IOCs tour of the city, thn hastily put back up as soon as they left Makes you wonder just how necessary those works really are if they could go happily without them for that time.
