It kind of remains to be seen whether or not retribution was even a good expansion. |

Why? Storm Legion is actual *expansion* which added 200% to game's content - not those pitiful EVE debugs and slow reskins which should be done weekly instead of accumulating and trumpeting them as "expansion". Planetside 2 got comparable amount of new content and improvements during its first post-release month as EVE during whole year. |

Not enough content / additions for retribution to be even remotely considered for "best xpack". Sorry fanbois and white knights, ccp does not deserve this one. |

Edit: but yeah we could use something massive like the added WH space.

Nah, I think that award goes to Paradox fans when a fantasy DLC -- involving Aztecs Hordes in Europe in the middle ages lol -- was released for Crusader Kings II. Talk about some bitter people. |

Well, EVE just got my vote in one of these for the first time in years. Hope this expansion wasn't just a fluke and they can keep up the pace.
And i went with The Secret World for best MMO launched this year, because it easily is. "The nice thing about quotes is that they give us a nodding acquaintance with the originator which is often socially impressive." ~Kenneth Williams |

I'm not buying the hype; I voted 'Something else.'
I did too, but I was hoping it would give me the option of entering the name even though I didn't really expect it to. It didn't.
While I can definitely say Mists of Pandaria is a great, huge joke on the world because WoW never changes, yet always shows highly detailed CGI of impressive battles and the like in it's trailers.. Wait, do they have a best trailer of 2012 award? Mists of Pandaria would probably get my vote; I saw it on the big screen in a pseudo-sports bar and it was pretty impressive.
Storm Legion does look impressive, but I can't say how good it really is as I haven't played Rifts for some time now. It was the best new game out awhile back imo. Lacking in some areas, but actually pretty impressive. If I had got a text entry field, I would have voted for Retribution but added a consideration for Storm Legion.
If we lose by one vote, don't blame me, blame the other guy. ..not that it really matters; I'm sure those things are having less and less relevance these days. Certainly, WoW keeps ending up on them, so they can't be trusted. ..ahh, I never will get why people like that game.

With WoW, jumping the shark, with Pandas, EvE calling balance tweaks an expansion, the whole MMO field was pretty meh this year. "I don't know which is worse, ...that everyone has his price, or that the price is always so low." Calvin

It's what the community demanded instead of anything to do with walking in stations.
I would have preferred to see the game become so much more, but so far they've done a good job on improving flying in space. "The nice thing about quotes is that they give us a nodding acquaintance with the originator which is often socially impressive." ~Kenneth Williams |

Because why would you want to play games with little kids, when you can play a game full of grown men who are emotionally little kids? From: Tommas De'Wins To: Cipher Jones Dude :) I got massives Basi hahahahahahaha |

WIS can die in a fire for all I care, I shut that *stuff* down day 1 when my GPU chugged allong at 15 FPS, not to mention the wonderful amount of gameplay it offers. The balance tweaks were needed, but calling what came out this year "expansions" is being overly generous. Hehe
If only 5% of the WoW subscriber base approved of, and voted for the Pandas, it would be enough to defeat a unanimous Eve user-base vote.
Internet polls - best idea since sliced bread crust removers.

*If* lady Gaga plays Eve, we'd win. If, smiff...
I don't think we'll beat Pandas, nor even say we should -- though that expansion is $50? --, but really numbers (like size) doesn't always matter. It's what goes viral/social and what people are passionate about. See: Reddit & stupid internet memes for example. Ya just never know.

The problem wasn't so much walking in stations as it was the idea of charging you $20 for a pair of electronic pants or $99 for the privilege of doing CCP's work for them writing 3rd party software like Dotlan, EVEmon, EVEkill, etc. Especially when the game is still so obviously flawed and buggy. Retribution fixes certain things that were broken. But it has also broken other things. It's been a long time since EVE has seen an "expansion". Unless you count the new destroyers and mining frigates as a major "expansion"... |
