Following Cardinal Omir Sarikusa's recent summons to the Bleak Lands, Venal Rangers and allied elements (often consisting of past Rangers) have been in action against unauthorized incursions into the Covenant controlled part of the Bleak Lands.
Late last night (Sahtogas local time), a scout reported that a starbase was being erected in Sahtogas, one of the two major Blood Raider systems. A swift response was deemed necessary and a small task force was projected for a direct, tentative assault on the starbase.
During the opening shots, an industrial-class vessel belonging Industrial Fleetyards, the corporation behind the latest incursion, was shot down before reaching its goal. The salvage team found evidence of starbase supplies among the debris.
Based on the evaluation of the situation, it was decided that a sustained assault was necessary. The siege continued well into the early hours of the morning, but ended in the utter destruction of the starbase and its auxillaries and armanent systems.
This is the third succesful assault made on a starbase infringing on the Blood Raider territory by the Venal Rangers and their allied forces. The first undertaking was the succesful stealing of a XETIC alliance structure, while the second was a show of force that made the Tuatha De Danann corporation decide to withdraw their forces, rather than face a sustained, full-on assault. The third and latest attack, against one of the smaller starbase models, was made on the Industrial Fleetyards corporation.
Blood Raider Command has been silent on the results of the siege, but the Venal Rangers (and allies) may rest content, knowing that the Cardinal should once more be satisfied with their actions.

The Blood Raiders are good associates of mine, and I have had many business dealings with them in the past. I care little about their religious activities, but I do know that they constitute a great opportunity for "free-trade", if you know what I mean.
Congratulations. The destruction of a starbase is an applaudable accomplishment under any circumstance. -

Zoral glanced at the report in front of him. It seemed accurate enough, but made some minor remarks on his personal observations which he had made. As usual his report was precise to the point. Military habits died hard, his reports would always be so, even though some of the Raiders were not quite so precise with their reporting. He knew reports were just as important as the execution plans themselves.
Captain's personal notes: "Scouts had identified activity in the Sahtogas system. Having being pulled here from the edges of civilization, I certainly did not hesitate to check up on any leads. And this had one proved to be quite good indeed. "
Captain's log: "Upon arriving to Sahtogas system, we proceeded towards the designated moon, only to find a starbase being build up. All the basic systems were up and running, including some basic defences being brough up all the time.
At XXXX, primary weapon systems were brought online and a decision to engage the starbase was made by the Captain."
...
"Some time after initial enagement, an interceptor belonging to the said corporation, Industrial Fleetyards was spotted. After a deterrant firing, it made escape with some moderate damage. Apparent from later observations, communication within the corporation was not good, as only few minutes later a supply ship was caught just outside of the station. Upon closer inspection some vital supplies were identified as being shipped to the starbase."
"A word had been sent to other ship captains in the area, some time later additional forces arrived."
...
"After the station defences had gone offline, most ships within easy reach had been contacted. It was clear that a swift strike would be in order, without a prolonged engagement. As had not been the case in some of the earlier engagements with such bases, which had required considerable time to take down."
From captains personal notes; Zoral Qu, "After pouring enough megajoules to light a star, this station was definately showing to be a simple swift cleanup job. Only a little time separated us from taking down all hostile construction elements. I am certain that Cardinal Sarikusa will be satisfied in the results. We have certainly proved that the ships brought in by the Asssembly of Captains were required and the recall was justified. However, as ever, Omar Sarikusa remained the enigma, we simply could not know..."
...
"As the final shield generators were overloading, the armor collapsed more than swiftly and the end of the station was near, the crew certainly seemed to rejoice in the fact that they were once again contributing for the greater good. XO even heard some joke, 'Just another day in the Blood Raider Covenant.' However, he remarked that it seemed more of a statement than a jest."
