This has probably been asked before but since there is no search I have to ask it again :)
Will EVE run on a NVIDIA« GeForceÖ FX Go5200 with 64 MB memory?
Thinking of getting me a notebook computer and if it will run on the above gfx card I'll get away pretty cheap. :)

I ran it fine on a laptop with a GeForce 4 MX 440 which is about the same, so you should be fine with that. However any higher than 1024x768 for the res made mining, battle or anything other than flying difficult because the fps would drop pretty low. ----------------

EVE can run fairly easily on a geforce 2.

I'm running an AMD +3200 laptop with 512 megs of RAM with a GeForce4 440 Go with 64 megs of RAM with a resolution of 1280x800 widescreen.
Stations are fine, fighting is fine, warping is fine, mining is fine. Getting far to close to warpgates for some reason slows things down, but the same doesn't apply to stations so I'm assuming it's a graphical glitch. I'm sure that if there were 30+ ships on screen at once fighting, things would slow down. But overall your card should handle EVE just fine. What's the rest of your stats?

It's the transparency effects that slow things down the most. I have a fx5200 and it works ok, except for most deadspace locations which feature those glowy gas clouds, and I end up with a slideshow experience.
I used to run eve on a fx5900 tho, and it worked *considerably* better.

Using 16 bit graphics really really really helps those cards around effects like that. I used a 440mx when i first started this game.

Im running EVE on a Mobile Radeon 7500 (thats a really OOOOLD card) I guess you can run EVE on most laptops with Radeon or Nvidia cards , but I advice a better card like the one you are mentioning.
Stations and gates lags a bit but game runs quite ok on my card + roids looks funky cause the card doesnt support bumpmapping.

only solution for me (i use the 128meg one) for gasclouds is to ZOOM OUT which seems to fix things, but kinda sucks cause i like the pretty explosions ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |
