I think that eve is pretty much full at the moment, this is great for CCP, but there's too many players at the moment. and the big alliances are jut too big. I'm not saying we should get rid of alliances or anything like that, but I think its time CCP almost gave us an empty sandbox to start again from.
My proposal is to re-open the EVE gate. and on the other side give us another galaxy, this galaxy should have the same rules as the current one, have security status etc, lowsec, null and highsec, but different factions, and as this galaxy didnt get cut off, it should have more advanced NPCs (similar to sleepers) but maybe not quite so evil and nasty.)
This will provide More space, for the player base, will reduce the huge blobfests significantly and give those fledgling alliances a bit of space and some time to establish themselves.
Lots of things would need testing and balancing but I think it would add a whole bunch of **** to the game and make it better for everyone.

Your heart seems in the right place, even if I disagree with what you say. The systems aren't crowded, just specific hub areas, and that's unavoidable.
The issue I see with your plan however is that you use the EVE Gate as your inter-galaxy hub. The nice thing about wormholes was that they can spawn anywhere and you can have access to wh-space from everywhere. You don't have to make that xx number of jumps just to get to the EVE Gate, which since it's lowsec, will be camped all to hell, just so you can witness new content. |

The issue as mentioned by the above poster is an unfortunate one at that, as this idea of the Eve Gate being re-opened would be a wonderful RP element. But, as said, the Eve Gate would be in turn constantly camped by everything short of bubbles, and hotdrops would plague that area. So, for now WH are the only current method of artifically expanded space that doesn't suffer the same fate do to their randomness and since cynos dont function properly in WH (if I remember correctly). |

I'm not too hot on EVE lore, but wouldn't the terrans on the other side take apart everything we can fly like a kid with a magnifying glass playing with ants?

A single terran weapon from 10,000 years ago alpha'ed an entire minmatar fleet which included a Titan and Supercarrier and few others. Recently, and blowing the weapon up opened W-space. |

Partly right, it wasn't blowing that weapon up that opened W-Space, read the end of the world chronicle set again, it was the destruction of the Isogen-5 Store, which appeared to be Quantum Entangled with many other Isogen-5 Stores and a bunch of Blue stars.. The Effect of which are chronicled in the last of the End of the World Chronicles - http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=11-03-09 -
But yes The weapon used by the Battleship was a Terran based weapon and it was majorly over powered (it aws the original Doomsday device) and given T3 ships are based on 'reversed engineered' possible terran decendent ship tech and the Jovians etc .. yeah Terrans could take Eve players apart.. if they are still alive 10,000 years on... or perhaps wormhole space is really terran space.. |

well we do know that the sleepers talocan yu yang and talkmal predate the first jovian empire. But they where established AFTER the gate collaspe, so who know how really advanced the first civilations in new eden are in comparison to the terrans. And to think Jove are only a fraction of technological poweress from those days. |

ahh I'm not totally up on eve lore and the RP elements, I actually like the idea of eve gate being in lowsec, there is a large risk involved in moving out there, but once there the riches should be plentiful. risk v reward etc.
if the terrans would rip us a new one then, it would have to be re-opened to a new unexplored area. say the eve gate didnt collapse, but simply moved back and forth alot. so the end of it moved the first time, the terrans used it to set up a new "new eden" and then it collapsed on thier side, bridging our new eden with the other new eden, I dunno, my point wasn't really about the RP element. was more about starting from scratch. and giving players a new place to explore and even call home. |
