Anyone notice how the space station from the second episode looked exactly like one of the space stations from freelancer. Even down to the very fine details.

i agree that the cheesy style is strange for doctor who and a more darker version would be cool but dont forget the style changes with each doctor so there is a chance it will change when he dies and regenerates. Btw if that johnathan creek guy gets the role of doctor i can just picture him oh a space station confusing some alien with a card trick lol
on a side note tho i like the second episode on that staion 5 bil years from now so maybee the new comedy style we are getting may be enjoyable and its not a bad thing we need entertaining programs and this may be one. [glad hes back] oh in case you have not guessed im a old fan lol

Maybe its my aging memory distorting things, but Doctor Who has *always* been campy, cheesy, borderline crappy acting. The title "Doctor Who" literally makes me think of that kind of show... its a bit harder to appreciate now, as compared to when I was a kid watching it, but the new ones still an excellent show. Think the second episode was just a build up to the rest of the season. Really hammering home to Rose exactly wtf shes decided to do...
It was great... hope the rest is as good...

The program makers seem to have lost the concept of "cliffhangers".
I remember watching Dr Who and being totally immersed until the music kicked in at the end, and you were so shocked that it could finish at such a crucial part of the story.
The next week was spent wondering if the Doctor would survive this particular scrape. (although he always did )

The first episode was so cheesy and in true doctor who style thats what made it entertaining.
I dont think eccleston should quit though, he makes a good doctor, just needs to loose the leather jacket.

TBH, I'm still making my mind up, it's got potential but I hope the scripts improve a bit.
Being an old git I remember when Dr Who first came out, so I still tend to compare it to the William Harnell days (yes TV REALLY was black & white then)

Ok, well... Saturday's was good, but nothing special.
Next looks great, especially with the BBC News breaking news thing, saying 'LONDON ALIEN HOTLINE: XXXX XXXXXX'
I can't wait. --------

Edited by: Maggot on 13/04/2005 20:47:12 I thought it was so good I had a tear in my eye. My two daughters (5 and 3) sat and watched it in awe. When it finshed the elder turned around and said "I want Doctor Who on DVD". Cheeky monkey.
All the following week the eldest kept asking about Doctor Who, and they were both very well behaved on Saturday ;) she blubbed at the end of the world in the second episode, but found the third a bit scary.
Great to see my kids enjoying it as much as I did.

Quote: WTF?! Farscape was a breath of fresh air to TV sci-fi! There was more original concept in one episode of Farscape than a whole season of Trek/Trek wannabe clones!
I agree!
Haven't seen any of the new Dr.Who yet...Seeing my parents who live in a cave and have no tv Read in the paper that one of the older dr's criticised Eccleston's performance, thought he was too straight-laced for the role I think.

I watched the one with ghosts in it and thought it was awful
And farscape was sweet for like 3 series until the human met that scorpio dude and went completely mad.
