Tell your friend to train into a Blockade Runner. The cloaking abilities of the ship greatly increases the chances he/she can get through null-sec (which are quite low).
If the Blockade Runner is too small for your needs then a Jump Freighter is your only other option.
The trick behind transporting goods in any area is avoiding conflict in the first place as there are few things you can do as a solo defender to protect a hauling ship in hostile space... outside of ECM (which is Caldari Ewar).
Sorry. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

This is not meant to be trolling or offensive to the OP but if you have to ask these type of questions you probably have no business escorting someone through nullsec.
That being said I am a newb myself. I would suggest scouting the route a few times solo. Bookmark safe spots and gate pings along the way and share them with buddy if you are in different corps. I'd say intel about the route and using the map overview setting to check activity and/or ships destoryed will help you and your pal stay alive than any fitting or ship I could advise. |

Best ship for scouting in 0.0 is a nullified Tech 3 Strategic Cruiser.
Given that they are expensive and take a while to train into, other good options are interceptors/fast frigates and maybe stealth bombers.
As already mentioned, I would certainly run the route alone at least once and make 200-300km pounce spots above each gate before getting your friend through.
Now, the best way to show you how to scout is for me to get out there and help you and your friend. Let me know what the route is you guys are taking and when you're taking it and I'll bring another really good scouting ship... like say a Sabre... to help out .

plan your route using dotlan maps noting systems that have kills in them and make alternate routes for when you run into trouble and have to backtrack.
