It has come to my attention Lately, That many GM's Seem to to take people seriously when having issues. I Have Monitored and been in combat lately espescally in 0.0 and lag has gotten extremely bad Since Shiva/Exodious Relese of Leave I cancel my account for almost 3 months. I returned now and it has gotten even worst. This is not to flame CCP but A mere responce to how I and many others feels about customer service and how well I know some of are neglected. I rarely petetion a ship loss. But I seen so many ship losses do to server lag issue NOT Graphic issues. Most of the people I play with have top of the line computers. And there replacement of the ship is denied because? why, they cant find it in the logs? Umm and kill mails showing that 2 corp m8's killed each other exiting the station and neither one fired a shot. CCP want people to inhabit 0.0 but the current lag issues are getting to be a real pain for plays that want to fight and cant because of lag. I also feel Many Other will share this same concern and we would like to know what are the current plant to resolve this issue.

Client is fine for the most part. A few GUI bugs but nothing major.
The problem stems from the servers and the fact that CCP are adding more attributes to everything while they balance. More attributes = more information going between clients and server.

True... I would add the what's causing problems (at least it's my guess) it's the code that the server need to calculate. The more they add to it, the more we will have problems... Unless they find ways to optimize it of course.
Client side bugs are GUI linked, but you can also get sound bugs. I also think eve can somehow stress your memory whle in fleet combat

Try other games first in the mmorgp gamingworld and come back to say what is better or worst with the service ccp gives. There are games which doesnt hav any services like ccp gives and i think the GM's are doing a very good job in trying to work problems out and help the players. Dont take this service as granded to think its a common sence that games hav a customer service.
anyway, happy gaming to you, hope you find something nice

the KIS principle has been forgotten when it comes to data...while the items and the logic can become complicated (which adds to the lag if they don't add servers to the cluster) the atributes should not effect the network speed (packets shouldnt get larger, bits as flags instead of bytes...).
CCP has issues with the server side of things, and should get outside help since they have shown they can not resolve the everlasting flaw in their servers setups (issue since beta). This is not a rant or flame, this is a suggestion I give in RL to any company that tries to get one person to do it all...
I don't hire coders to design a network, nor would I want a network engineer to write my code...

Edited by: Larshus Magrus on 25/03/2005 19:24:27 Edited by: Larshus Magrus on 25/03/2005 19:23:39 I dont know what world you live in, but I'm VERY impressed with the CCP servers. I come from Everquest and WoW where the servers lag, stop, explode, lose your character info/items on a regular basis.
Not once have I experienced what I'd consider a game braking issue here. I have seen "server" lag from time to time, but its every time I've checked with mtr/traceroute/ping there has been an issue with a node upstream between me and the servers. Not once have I experienced a lag issue where I've been able to factor out the inbetween hops. Maybe I've just been lucky.
Oh also, if you check the packet rates of data for Eve compared to EQ or WoW, you'll notice that Eve seems to use a considerable amount less than the other two. I dont think there is bandwidth "bloat" compared to other competing products atm.
Before you come out and blame CCP make sure there isnt a problem on a node upstream of you outside of CCP's control

Generally I would rate them as average, but improving.
I of course don't do petitions for ships and the like because I know they will reject them outright.
But on other issues I have found that they can be pretty helpful. Nothing to see here .... move along. |

I got a high end and low end computer. I notice some annoying lag on my low end machine. But on high end one everything seems to run pretty smoothly. That said, I haven't participated in any large fleet engagements. I'm in west coast USA
