Do you know what XFire is?
You could say any program is 'stuffed with spyware'.
It has 'game tracking' to show what you've played but it can be disabled. There is no spyware in the IM, and other users will back me up on that...
Yes. I do know what XFire is and no, you can't say any program is stuffed with spyware because not all of them are. If it hasn't got spyware in then I was misinformed, hence me asking if it it was. _________________

Originally by: Dionysus Davinci xFire has (last I checked) a very unclear disclaimer what they collect info for. In fact, I believe it is worded like we don't sell to 3rd parties, but we could.
Hmmm... Sounds dodgy. (excuse my French)

Ok, so maybe XFire isn't perfect, but the point of this topic was to get support.
If noone is with me, that's fine...

I installed that at christmas.
After installing it, it just crashed the eve cleint on the login screen.
Uninstalled it and fine again. Just a dam shame it didn't clear it all out, soon as i rebooted it came back, but wasn't there to uninstall, had to reinstall to delete it again, Thankfully been fine since. Bit of a shame, neat idea. ------------------------

/me blocks out the whales of agony from those who hate puns...
I'm from friggin Texas and I know what "bloke" was, I can't remember if I knew before dating the chick from Blackpool, but I think I did.
I just dont see any point to this program over a couple of other well known instant messaging applications, some of which are known to be absolutely clean of spyware and adware.

Why mix Xfire and EVE? EVE has a buddy list and plenty of chat channels already.

xfire is damn brilliant for finding where the hell your friends are if you all play different games, I can then join their game/server and teampspeak with 2 mouse clicks!

Don't really need XFire compitable in-game IMO, altho' a fix for the XFire-chat-in-game-activated=very-low-fps-since-RMR would be nice
For those of you who don't know what XFire is, then it's an IM tool, just like MSN, ICQ or whatever, but with the twist that you can see what games your friends are playing, how long you've played a certain game (total and this week), join friends game and server (handy when playing FPS) and more.

To my knowledge XFire doesn't have any kind of spyware (the thing that monitors what games you play, can be deactivated through settings). At least Norton Antivirus doesn't detect any spyware (it does from GameSpy Arcade tho ). -

yup and I very much support the idea. Xfire, altough looking dodgy and dangerous, is really a good piece of software. I know eve already has buddy lists and such, but it's still not the same...
