Here is an idea.
Every need to get 60 jumps away but you didn't want to spend the time? You might use a jump-drive, a death-clone, or a shuttle. What if a shuttle had a jump-drive? Many would say "OVERPOWERED, THAT WOULD RUIN THE GAME YOU @#&^$ @!#(*& $()$!#(& #$( )!&! !@#$" (i did't even know those words existed and its so painful to hear you call me that).
How could you make that balanced? Simple. That jump drive can't jump to a cyno! Wait, what? Just jump, don't choose a destination! End up anywhere: highsec, lowsec, nullsec, W-space, but not Jove!
If thats still to OP for you, how about this: it can't jump gates either.

I had a similar idea quite a while back, but my concept design for it was this. also, yes, this could be a lot of fun. |

If it had a proper jump drive with say, 4 LY base range, fuel bay, and reasonable fuel consumption and fuel bay size, then this is an idea I could get behind. Also, simply have it land at zero on the sun (but make it allowable in highsec). It would be predictable (unlike cynos) to prevent abuse. Travel time is a real pain if I want to jump up to join a friend for an op for an hour or two, then return to my home system. This would be nice.
Skill requirements? The same as the jump drive portion for capitals and maybe frigate 5. |

The point of it is to just jump some where from some place at some time to make super far travel without death cloning.
Fuel for jumps, OK i can see that. but only like 2 jumps. Skills, understandable.
But it is not meant to join up with other people. the point is you can jump without a cyno. you may end up in the system next door in a random location, maybe end up on the other side of New Eden, or even in wormhole space for all you know.
It is NOT to join other peoples fleets. It is NOT for fighting in. It is purely a chance based travel and exploratory ship. |

possibly have it so there are sets of things that it could be "attracted" to. the set would be chosen when you assemble the ship. some things it could be attracted to would be things like - stations - combat (PVE or PVP) - large scale combat (most likely large fleet fights but also things like incursion mom fights) - the center of randomized stars (every jump you would end up being bumped at the speed of light away) - high density of planets or people or stations or any other thing - other things like this
it is supposed to be a hint at the improbability drive, so why not make it into something that you would not expect. |

Truly, the ship with this ability could truly be said to have a heart of gold.
The random element is appealing, although I find it nearly suicidal by result.
What good is a shuttle if it lands in hostile space?
Cloaking being on a ten minute manual cycle timer? (Author: Bree Okanata) Fine. As long as there is a ten minute timer for being docked in a station. Also, you can't stop moving in the game. Just add in a way so every ten minutes you are randomly warped to the nearest other player. Keeps people from going AFK. |

Reminds me of the oldschool Diku-mud teleport spell. Teleported a character randomly to *anywhere* in the game world. Including instant-death-purge-all-your-stuff rooms.
Related tangent: Anyone remember UO's portal spells, and all the fun grief you could inflict with those? |
