Edited by: Trixie Stardust on 04/09/2011 20:55:04 Something I've been wondering about WOD..
will they keep the kids out? They basically have to. Otherwise CCP is going to have a massive problem on their hands. Think about it.. avatars biting each other, blood dolls, etc. That whole roleplay scene is hypersexual.
So.. what if a a 28 year old man has a 16 year old "blood doll?" This is a problem, no?

Depends where you live. In Canada she could be 14 and you are good to go as long as you are not a 'person of authority' in her life.

That's true enough. So...
Bearing in mind what was asked above... Will EVE ever be an adult game? I know they claimed that players would/could have their own pole dancers, and a previous tech demo of pre-carbon station establishments had an actual (non-functioning) 'exotic' dancer, but, will they have the 'balls' to drop the PEGI 12 rating, and go for 'Mature'?
Personally, I don't think so.

I'm not saying there would be anything illegal per se about the game mechanics, just.. do you really want to bite strangers? Biting is basically kissing. You don't know how old they are. It's not appropriate.
Second Life has a vampire scene, but they have a scheme for age verification so players know who they are playing with.
The thing with the vampire scene is that roleplayers get very close, clans and all that, the whole thing has erotic overtones. Which is why Twilight makes a gazillion dollars, it's a romance.
There have been problems in WOW with adults getting too close to minors. This isn't an issue for Eve, we don't have girls anyway (well a few ) plus we're all about the spaceships. But a vamp mmo.. if it has blood sucking animations.. then add in the pseudo-sexual nature of vampire roleplay.. I don't know, it seems like maybe asking for trouble if it's a mixed age crowd.
I *think* I read wod will be adult but I don't know for sure, and is that 17+ or 18+, and how do you really keep minors out. If they do make it adult, they're shutting out a huge market that would want to play the game.

As in, one of the two people who would actually want to play it wouldn't be able to?

Trixie, I'll just assume you are NOT trying to troll. Honestly, you've been around a while, do you really think posting about WoD of all things in the EVE General Discussions board is a good idea? Nnnno.
Out of Pod Experience subforum, use it. Please. There's enough trolling in here as is.

credits card are done, fearless vikings only see microtransations on their future they told it ; vampires clothes for real money. so i would think the game will be free to play. maybe, maybe a box to pay, but not more.

As Douglas Adams said, "the problem with trying to build something foolproof is that you fail to take into account the talent of a determined fool."
I can almost guarantee that it will be as follows:
WoD Financial Manager: So, how are we going to handle people paying for our new game, World of Darkness? Hilmar: Well, the EVE Community accepted micro-transactions in addition to a monthly subscription with relatively minor resistance. I don't see why we can't just have World of Darkness start off using both. WoD Financial Manager: ... We're going to have a monthly subscription and then charge for necessary items? Hilmar: Absolutely! We're entering the realm of 'trend-setters.' Decades from now, this will be how every game is run. We will have successfully initiated the change to landscape of the future.
From the get-go, WoD will sell both vanity and enhancement items in an in-game store. But, they will also have a monthly subscription. It might be less than the standard $15, or it might be coined something other than subscription. But, CCP will try to monetize as much of the game as possible.
And with all of that being said.... KINDRED THE EMBRACED! Fantastic show. Sad that 'the prince' died in real life after the first season, because it had been renewed.

Technically everyone I know that likes WoD HATES Twilight
that aside, CCP HAS to put Werewolf the Apocalypse into this game. Get of Fenris are totally Icelandic -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. |

I picture gangs of Nosferatu roaming the streets ganking every emo-Twilight wanabe they can find

Many of the Chronicles are very grimdark, dealing with mature themes - torture, murder, institutionalized ****, brainwashing, child soldiers, etc. Many of these themes make it into the game itself, in the form of mission and item descriptions.
That the line would be drawn at graphical representations is a bit odd. It's not as if fifteen-year-olds can't read, especially if they're the type to play an MMORPG.

I want to see how they crowbar beta testing for T3 frigates into WoD.
They'll be like, "Why would I want to be forced to play on a spaceship arcade game every time I go home to my lair? Is it supposed to be a weird vampire dream where I fly spaceship, I don't get it. You said this would be optional, but it turns out you're just ****ing liars." |

I think in all likelihood it will be heavily sanitised and 12+ (or PG-13 if you prefer), I am not sure it will be crawling with Twilight fans though which is about the best you could probably say.
and no EVE will never ever change certificate everythign will be a sanitised version with perhaps a tiny bit fo suggestion. Mores the pity.

It depends. The WoD theme should really be M to really grasp it. However the chances of it being that are slim and will be toned down a lot. Which sadly will probably attract a lot of the 12-15 yr old twilight fans who hear vampire and think sparkely. If they did it true to the WoD theme then it would probably drive away a lot of them due the graphic nature.

Also this is somewhat about Eve online. Since Eve online is funding its development as well as leeching a lot of its developers.

To answer your question.
Originally by: CCP 2010 Panel *They confirmed that the game will definitely contains gay clubs. Taken from here
So unless they change the games direction then yes it will be an adult game.
