Why? I doubt its your captains closet, which the only content it added was longer station loading times.
But game breaking bugs that you never seem to see on your server.
I have seen, and had happen to me, these bugs in the last 2 months alone.
Lvl 4 half trained to 5 skill reset to 4. 2 level 5 skills reset to 4. (no deaths either case) Carrier jumps, docks, all mods and rigs missing. Bubbles just not working. All damage over a 15 second fight applied at once. Resist being ignored Modulus turning off Ships flying backwards Bonuses not being applied Texture failures in closet Fps sky rocketing to 900fps ( nearly melted my video card thanks ) Turrets appearing on random parts of ships. Mining laser sounds not stopping until reloging People teleporting out of their ship and appearing in random station Jumping at star gate, not jumping, getting session timer. Tons of lag
Anyone else notice anything I didnt list? This is just recent stuff.

First op, you are an idiot.
Second, Most of those bug were fixed by simply clearing the cache.
Third. CCP fixed over half of those last night with 1 client patch and a hot fix.
Finally, did someone get their t3 killed?

About half of those problems are very likely at tour end to be honest.
Take for example the 900fps issue, there is no software no matter how badly coded that could physically do that to your fps as the card would have cut out end forced your machine to reboot a long time before that happened. If it did happen (and i'm very skeptical about that) it would have been a hardware issue with your GPPU core.
Lag isn't always CCP's fault, a large amount of lag is simply the internet routing between your modem and their modem, it could be caused by anything along that route, yes there is lag that is server based in EVE but to be fare it's not any worse than any other MMO out there.
Ships flying backwards? That was comical, not game breaking, and wasn't really even a bug, that was YOUR pc using cached image files, all that was needed was to clear YOUR cache.
Many of the rest can be simply associated to lag quite easily, whether it's your lag, their lag or somewhere in between is hard to determine.
I'm not saying there haven't been bugs, there have and are, but it's nowhere near as bad as people seem to make it out to be, i have seen far worse issues in other MMO's.

I kind of agree with you there, not that the game is dying, it's a long way from that, but the lack of new subscriptionsis what i agree on.
My theory on that is becasue this game is very much a niche game, it caters to a specific type of gamer which is only realy a small corner of the market, that and the length of time the game has been running means that most people who would have played the game have tried it and not been in that niche profile or are desensitised to seeing it around and think "ah thats an old game now i want something newer".
Plus as you say it is a long slow grinding type of game (that's part of the niche market there) and a lot of people who used to play are just simply burnt out, that happens on most games to an extent but i can see it being more common here.
I might be wrong but it seems logical.

Dunno if youre aware of this (cause there are a looooot of ppl around here that dont seem to read this link) Forum rules
rule 6
Quote: Personal attacks are prohibited. Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated. Corporation, faction and alliance members and other players are cautioned to avoid allowing ôin characterö disputes from becoming "out of character" personal attacks. The game is designed for role-playing and/or portraying a role and it is sometimes easy for tempers to flare when the lines between the virtual world and the real world are crossed. Please keep in-game disputes in the game and off the forum unless it is clearly a mutual, in-character exchange.
an yeah talking about ppl not giving respect an then flaming him up one side an down the other. -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. |

long ? i dont think so ... maybe 2 more expansions ,its a year ? ccp only lies about stats to keep old players in game becouse its a little addictive ,and is "sad" to leave 3-4 year (or older) char ... but as a new gamer ,what i get ? Door to WC or ugly, slow, cpu eater hq .... this game has nothing to offer atm .

A decent discussion of numbers you probably want this thread moved to "out of pod".
In the mean time, I'll point out some inconvenient truths:
- many mmos have gone free to play (so people are trying them out) - botting has been looked at seriously by CCP (unholy rage!) - people that play eve don't follow the hardcore gamers philosophy (buy new every 2), they just keep the same machine for silly amounts of years as gaming rigs (it burns to work on tech older than 24 months) - game mechanics that need changing are blocked due to fear 1% of the active population in EVE will kick up a stink - their "piste resistance" (eve tournament ) was a farce
Now add the bugs and whatever everyone that posts their good bye love letters is complaining about and you are getting close to the one that tickles me most.
A good few people were told that the game is now run by Russian corporations and feel that they (being non-Russian) aren't wanted in the game.
I have no idea how CCP deals with a player base that's drunk the coolaid and feels disenfranchised. Just not sure them leaving is truly a loss for anyone.
Check eve kills for how I see the world.
Ships are still dying, people are still playing.
Forums are optional. Undocking should however not be and the CQ appears to agree. LOL
For me, the best part of Incarna is the fact we all contracted 'Space Nits'. "I docked up and all I got was 'head lice'." ;-p |

I think I found your problem.
Also, the game has everything it always had, plus a few new wrinkles, to entertain new players. Somehow I don't think ship spinning and the ability to drag and drop cargo to your ship has the magical "new player addiction" qualities that you think they have.
Other than that, you can do anything from your NeoCom and hanger that you could in the past, you don't even have to wait for the CQ to even fully load. In fact, thanks to not needing the ship change session timer anymore, things are actually faster for many people. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

Ok, ok, another troll tread being trolled even harder, but explain this to me please.
Lag, if lag is having some lost packets between the client and the server, how come for at least a year i had nearly no problems, suddenly, a patch comes on and everything is blowing up right left for no reasons. Did CCP change provider or something ? or did they change the code ?

Because CCP's testing skills are so 1337 that they don't need hot fixes at all, amirite?
Just waiting for CCP to break things and then charge us to download the "hot fix".

Regardless, of the OP claims or what a "log on" graph shows, for those of us that play SiS (Spaceships in Space), there is certainly a major down turn in player activity out side of stations in actual space.
Your little graph might show people are logging on still, but those same people are less frequently FiS (Flying in Space) and doing stuff out side of stations. I dunno maybe high sec is booming, but I can tell you that low sec & even NPC null is very dead most of the time these days.

Point taken. But does this factor in/out alt accounts???
When I log in, I typically log in at least two accounts at a time. So, these can very well be inflated numbers based on alts. Most of the time, I am only really playing one account at a time.
Oh yeah... and don't forget BOT ALTS, which could account for 8+ accounts from one player who are doing nothing but ... ... ... well... that is a entirely different topic.
Dex was here.

Considering we've just gotten an overhyped but pretty crappy expansion AND considering the fact they've ramped up the anti-bot activities heavily, we're still roughly on par with the activity level right after the first big "Unholy Rage" project. Sure, it looks like a downwards trend, but nothing even remotely approaching the OP's claim of basically halfed activity compared to one year ago. _

Maybe but there is certainly a down town even on your graph and I really don't think CCP has put that big of dent in the bot population. Added to this bots don't PVP and their leaving wouldn't explain why there is less people in space to pew pew with.
The graph doesn't show "actual" player activity, it just show they are still logging on to talk with friends or change skill plans. Maybe a more interesting graph would be to see a comparison of space ship explosions over the same time periods. That might be a better comparison to show if those players whom are logging on are actually active.

Trending downward in a major way. Many of the oldest richest best corps in the game going inactive, and losing their vets. Population these days is back to 2008/2009 levels, not that I mind that, I wish less people played, but what this is showing is that CCP is making mistake after mistake, and their loyal long time customers are not going to continue supporting them any longer.
