Hi
If someone is selling some stuff, and there are two equal Buy Orders covering that station for that item, which Buy Order gets sold to?

The one that has been in existence the longest.

So if I'm in bidding war with another player, and his Buy Order has existed the longest, he can simply increase his Buy Order to match mine? Whereas I will have to increase my Buy Order to exceed his?

No, because the timer is reset when you modify the order. The point is that simply saying "the one with the least time remaining" won't work as if you place a 14 day order at the same price as an existing 89d20h order the 89d20h will still be filled first.

So I can just update my order's price to equal my competitor's, and then I get all his stuff, until he outbids me?

No, because yours would then be the youngest order and you won't get squat until his fills.

Perhaps a clearer way to explain it would be "the order which was last modified the longest time ago". ---

Yes. Same fact delivered in a (in my opinion) slightly more understandable way. ---

First come, first served. First in, first out. The order waiting the longest at that price is filled first. All very simple concepts. In other words, you can't jump in front of someone who has been waiting there longer without beating his price.

This also means, that if you have say 10-item order which has just 1 item left, you can make new order at same price and your old order will get finished first.
So you don't need to cancel first order just to make sure you have more items going.
