apparently there's some bug out where if u imitate warp and then are tackled, your ship will still warp away?
I just had a stealth bomber tackled with a 24km point, who claimed he had no warp stab's fitted, warp away.
A few others have said that they starting noticing this as well. Any word on if this really exists? ------- The new HQ for PVE in Eve Online. www.SurvivEve.com

Edited by: Mystical Might on 25/08/2011 23:55:48 Confirming this. Has been happening for two / three months now. CCP've just come up with the usual "Don't waste our times with petitions. File a bug report so we can ignore it and still feel good about ourselves". Annoying as **** to be honest, definetly not one of the better "Features" of EvE. .
Edit: Fixed the "File a bug report" wording. xD.

Is it rarely conditional or does it happen all the time?
If it's a conditional bug, it'd probably be incredibly hard to track down.

I think it's just a pot-luck kind of thing. Maybe if they'd hit warp early enough, the point's done have effect. Just a theory there.
On another note, This is a bug mr. non believer. ;P. A corpmate and I had a drake warp off while pointed by both of us. We managed to track him down less than 20 seconds later to the place he'd warped to, and finished him off. He didn't have any stabs fitted, yet was able to warp off while double pointed (He hadn't initiated warp before he was pointed either, which could point towards points not being registered properly ingame?)

I am not aware of any way you can imitate warp...other than to warp. What is a "u?"

To be fair, it's hard to type on these tiny keypads computers have these days. Think of the productivity generated by dropping a few letters.

Confirmed, I also had ships warping away when I was pointing them. (Don't know if they had WCS fitted, but chances are low. Who fits drakes with wcs?)

I'm skeptical.
Sounds like a bunch of "me and my buddy thought we had points before this guy warped out"
who knows, maybe,
i think people would notice a bug like that pretty quickly. file a bug report

Ignore the doubting Thomas posters.
It exists, but the bug may be elsewhere
I was in a frigate (imp slicer)
I was shooting a target 50+ away, then a rapier decloaked 40 from me, so I initiated warp.
12 seconds later I saw a message flash up that they had scrambled me.
I was about 4 AU away at that time according to my screen.
Both of us confused.
I never wcs my ship (even when there were zero penalties)
It's real "I was there (but not *there* getting tackled because I was actually somewhere else)"

Isn't this the same bug that has been plaguing pods who couldn't warp out before being podded?
I think the explanation there was something about orders and stacks being implemented and basicly saying, "your out of luck". In this case however, you could be more lucky. - Hilmar getur ekki tala= vi= ¦ig n·na, hann er a= fara f japanska tfskuverslun.

It's probably related to server lag.
I've had a few instances of locking a target that is attempting to warp, getting the lock on them and then activating the scram and it not going through until just after they warp.. by which time it's too late.
I've also had instances where I should NOT have escaped from a gate camp in a large ship like a battlecruiser, only to be yellow boxed and then make it into warp, something tells me there is a seconds worth of server lag between locking the target and the modules activating, as if the modules activate on the second rather than the mil of a second, probably to reduce server lag.. it would make sense, but it also has a considerable impact on combat.

Probably related to this.
I didn't read that article again and I might be referring to a different one, but some time back I read a nice devblog about how the server handles the client requests.
It basically said that it is luck if you get the point or if he manages to warp. Luck based on how the server handles the requests that came up more or less synchronously.
So your client thinks you have the lock and point, but meanwhile the server decides otherwise and lets him fly.

There are two other threads about this same bug, but they are a couple of weeks old and I can't easily dig them up. The point being, this is an actual problem reported independently by multiple sources but only recently (so probably due to a patch). - sig |

Considering most bug reports consist of:
"this happened, and it's f---ing bull---- and it's your crappy games fault, and don't try to tell me its lag my computer is awesome and i have a great connection FIX IT NOW"
and provide zero relevant information, is it any wonder these things take time to nail down? When they say you need to provide details, that means at a minimum:
location, both solar system and nearest object time, down to the closest minute your ship fitting, the exact modules used combat data, how far away you were, how fast you and your target were moving as specific as possible the sequence of events and actions you made leading up to the bug
"I turned on my warp scrambler but he still got away" is not helpful.

I wonder if CCP has an inside joke about that one of our favorite ways to slander them is "Our logs show nothing"? It would be fitting I think...

Guys please realise that you are playing an internet game.
The phenomenon you are experiencing is due to latency.
You are given the distinct impression hat you have locked the ship but in reality he was away before the lock.
Perhaps if there has been a change in recent months its related to the feedback your client receives from server relating to lock status. Perhaps to save server time it gives you lock confirmation before checking in the target ship has warped.
tbh get more remosebo.

Edited by: Bubanni on 29/08/2011 02:32:36 I bug reported this a while ago and petitioned it...
It's very easy to reproduce, but the latest response I got from CCP was "there is no problem" "it's by design"... but I can tell from experience, something changed a few months ago with one of the patches...
Now what really happens, you manage to get lock on a fast target after it jumps through a gate and begins to warp away... You just barely get lock before the frig hits 75% max speed, and lock is confirmed... you had your weapons/tackle prefired... Now this is where the problem kicks in... the modules dont activate on the same server tick/cycle as your lock did... so the frig has another 0.5/1 sec before it's actually tackled...
Let me show you... I recorded 2 videos myself while reproducing this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VtsnhAomJs <-- corp mate helping me reproduce it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPrAk0hXpgI <-- in average pvp situration
I found that a rifter fitted with 2 nanofibers will warp away from a instacane with 2-3 sensor boosters "most of the time" but where you had lock and the module didn't activate fast enough...
Can I just say this issue is something that annoys me VERY VERY much, as all I do in EVE is gank frigates... it's my thing, it's what I "enjoyed"... I had to step up to a cynabal with 3 sensor boosters and 3 scan res rigs... to catch a frigate on a gate before it warps!...
So yeah... the bug team hunters have been told about this... they just don't think its a bug... and they obviously don't realize something has changed... before incarna I remmember the modules activateing basicly on the same server tick as the lock... now its the second tick... they ought to activate at same time!!!
Also... shadowandlight, havn't you heard me whine about this in the corp?!... I been whining for weeks now...
