oh my bad, its a displayport issue on the eyefinity something about low voltages putting the monitor into standby and theres a bios fix to correct it but ATI hadn't posted it.
it just a forum convo between someone i know with an ATI card and someone else I know who works for ATI
but you can see from their track record that they have all sorts of issues, the last big one was fans spinning down or something
then there was the time they deleted the internet

Ah the standard crap that all companies deal with when it comes to complex electronic equipment including Nvidia. I could sit here and point out the similar issues Nvidia has had but there's no point. You obviously prefer Nvidia and I prefer the card that gives me the bigger bang for the buck :P

people running ati(amd) are scrubs. I mean what kinda poor bastard would you need to be to run that garbage lol. Dont even game if your on amd, that shats for office computers, tools. The hardware is crap, the software is even worse. Do urself a favor and spend the extra 50 bucks on non crap hardware.

you sure about that?
Well, if you stroll over here you can actually find, that while nVidia cards are used more, the DX11 (newest) card segment is being dominated by the ATI/AMD cards and older ones are more populated by nVidia ones. Interesting new trend, isn't it?
And speaking of driver/hardware faults - i've heard enough complaints from both sides, and in almost equal numbers, so i can't say that there's a side that has a definitely higher number of complaints.
And one more note: given CCP's partnership with nVidia ATI users will most likely see even more shafts from CCP, which is, in my opinion, an unfair advantage and preference of one manufacturer over others.

I run ATI and nVidia chips, all the cards still in use were mid-high tier when originally released. Both companies ship products in large volumes and it only makes sense to optimize software for both. Eve's in-space graphics are a few years old now, maybe they just need to modernize some of their directx calls to take advantage of newer functions.
Those bashing ATI as bad for gaming are just fanboys, nVidia has had some issues ATI users have never dealt with and vice versa. Games can be hit or miss to which architecture will run it better, but there certainly isn't any reason that graphics as old as eves shouldnt run well on pretty much all recent midrange chips. nVidia has done payoffs before to gimp games on ATI so I wouldn't be surprised if that was going on here, and if thats the case its just another example of CCP getting greedy at the expense of their base. |

5770, latest drivers, no problems except occasional antialiasing issue with certain stargates after having the game open for a few hours. Not a big deal. Will continue to use ATi/AMD and not be a whiney biatch

and get what? one of those overpriced, under quality, hacks instead of proper implementations heating units known as an nvidia card?
nvidia would have to hire an entirely new engineering team and redesign their next generation of cards from complete scratch before I would recommend anyone buy them.

Anyone else's EVE having flashing wight screen effects with ATI graphics Cards? and how can i fix it?
sry about the spelling:)
HD5770 here and I only having the flashing problem the with the stars in certain systems. I run the client in window mode with all details. I have noticed that lowering details will usually stop the flashing. I haven't had the time to try to figure out which graphical option is the source of the problem though.
It is the sun occlusion setting. If there are icons in line between you and the sun (like gate icons, stations etc) you'll get the flash. For some reason icons are considered "objects" to occlude the sun with even if the objects they represent are so far away that they wouldn't mess with the light coming from the sun anyways.
Would be nice if it was fixed, everything looks kind of silly without the occlusion really, and it's hella hard to concentrate when you're blinded repeatedly by a white strobe light. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

I had a feeling it was something to do with that. I noticed that the flash tended to occur when there were "objects" far off in the distance between the sun and I (as in the white targeting symbols).

I logged into SISI last night and could not get the flashy to happen at all, which hopefully means it's fixed on SISI and might be on TQ soonish. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |
