If you want to be allowed to shoot at anyone who enteres your mission, then missions are readily available in lo-sec and 0.0. In these areas you dont have to even wait for them to steal your salvage!
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

Sure are a lot of angry folk frothing at the mouth in here, maybe they should read the op before posting.

No point looting something that's not worth stealing. Most loot is meta 1/2 crap that's not worth the limited cargospace in a ninja frigate.
Swing and a miss.
All the crybaby "ninjas" here can take something from the wreck and jetcan it if they want to be flagged, as many of them claim to want.
They don't. Therefore they don't actually want to be flagged. Therefore, they are pathetic liars, simply trying to protect their zero-risk income source.
CCP can do whatever they want to do, or not, with wreck flagging. It really doesn't matter.
If mission runners don't want their salvage getting "stolen" there's a simple solution: Blow up the wreck if you see a so-called "ninja" (what a laughable term) approaching it.

another one *sigh*
Salvage is not part of the mission reward. Its free for all per rule. If you want it, compete with others.

I just set the wrecks blue when a NS enters a mission and I'd say so far about 50% of the time they just leave... so I do think some are just looking for the aggro.
I do agree "ninja" is a laughable term since they stick out like a sore thumb when they warp in.

A couple of points I think often get missed in threads like these:
It is a nice way to earn ISK while training up for greater things, and it doesn't feel like mindless PVE since you are interacting with other players. Even if those other players are not interested in interacting with YOU. The idiosyncrasies of the missioners you encounter makes the whole experience far more entertaining than working through level 1's and 2's as a low SP player. It certainly made a lot of sense to do this while grinding out your 'mandatory' learning skills but the popularity and low skillpoint requirements of the 'basics' of the profession make it attractive to this day.
Some people simply like to mess around with other players who are more or less powerless to stop them from doing what they do. Sure you can warp out, blue your wrecks, shoot them or simply sit there idle until these salvagers leave but even these actions can lead to some sporting fun for salvagers.
Sooner or later some mission runner is going to mess up and get themselves killed by trying to circumvent the salvagers. Warping out of missions prematurely and making them harder to complete later for example. For a noob running about salvaging someones mission, to see them get their ships killed because you aggroed all triggers and manage to loot their wrecks is great entertainment.
It's a great way to be motivated to learn PVP (even against lowly PVE fits, and mechanics such as agression and scanning. It's a far better introduction to the game than ISK whoring your own missions.

Edited by: Nadine Le''**** on 12/08/2011 11:29:03 here's my proposal:
why not make all wrecks dropped by NPCs also free for all? (but keeping current tractorbeam limitations)
maybe even for stuff like the damn damsel
only jetcans (and capsuleer wrecks) should have an ownerflag and produce aggression countdown upon theft.
from an immersion PoV (no not the prawn genre) this makes sense to me.

Because that's what we had before and carebears cried about how people could steal their wrecks with no repercussions; so we have what we currently have.
If you want to share your wrecks, blue them. If you want to get mad about people 'stealing your stuff' shoot them (and probably die).
