Edited by: Rascal deJascal on 28/07/2011 00:05:06 Somewhere in a recent patch something changed in the interface. Before, all you did was click the x to close a window. Now, it seems someone has put awareness-training wheels on the client and you have to really mean it to close a window.
Before you just clicked the x, now you have to click it repeatedly with the x disappearing and reappearing until it finally closes. My guess is that this was changed because people whined about closing windows in eve too easily, by accident. Now they refuse to close unless you time the click the x at just the right time. Cant this client behavior be toggled in the esc menu?

Actually they added some neat multimedia which hides the X button unless you're hoovering cursor over the window.
Unfortunately this feature is buggered :excellence: and very often you end up clicking window corner without "x" appearing to it.
Another great improvement there. --- This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change |

Things like this (have noticed it happening to me), the scanner window becoming stuck in a scan cycle, and right clicking, having no effect, right clicking again and then somehow getting multiple right click menus suggests the entire overhaul that 'shouldn't affect the gameplay in any way' is in fact terrible and affecting gameplay quite considerable.
Hopefully they fix this eventually but I fear it's beyond their ability to do without an entire reworking of the code, which is unlikely to happen. ~~~

After using the keyboard command a while, it still sucks to have windows unresponsive to mouse clicks.
And the all new dark icons need another pass through the "New and Improved" making machine.

this thing is really annoying - i thought i was going crazy, at least i know i am not the only one.
up until now i would click on the window to make it active then try to x out of it and if i am lucky it would work eventually.
i will try control W

Please CCP, do something about this. It is slowly growing into a hate generating thing, just trying to close or minimize a damn window.

It seems that if you hold the mouse button too long on a window, or click slightly off from one of the 3 buttons in the upper right, they disappear because the client thinks you are trying to move the window. If you click anywhere else then back on the window they will re-appear.
It seems the area that the buttons respond to is very, very small, you almost have to click directly in the middle of the button/icon thingy to get it to work.
It is a wee bit annoying, especially when you're trying to do something quickly. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

Indeed, this is slowly eating away at me, I had hopes to see it addressed in this update. I see nothing aside from the nasty station undocking leak that is worth a damn to me in this patch update.
Windows has been doing this very well since pre 95......someone around there must know how to fix it...

Does that window close normally? I don't really like to play games, I just like to open and close windows.

Confirmed. Massively annoying in my opinion. This is one of those things that used to work correctly and now it's broken. Good job CCP. What is the probability that they actually read this forum and do anything about the real issues in here ?
