One of the MMO's I played that had vanity items was Guild Wars. There were many types of armor that one could obtain through various amounts of grinding. The most popular was "Fissure of Woe" armor. One had to grind hundreds of items worth thousands of gold each to do so. This armor had identical stats to regular 'end game' armor.
There was an exploit that allowed one to grind it much faster. And because of said exploit botting in the game was rampant. You could buy the gold and or gems required for the armor directly from ebay.
If you played legit, it would take you 100's of hours to get the armor. If you used the exploit it still took a week or more depending on what stage of nerfing it was in at the time.
Compared to that, a 12000 AURUM monocle would take a solo battleship less time to grind than the vanity armor from Guild Wars. I did not buy any gold from ebay but it looks like its 51 bucks to buy the items you need. However buying AUR does not support botting or exploiting.
IMHO the NEX store is reasonable as long as it stays "cosmetic". You are not forced to buy anything, its not as hard to obtain items as at least one other popular MMO. What other MMO's have you played with vanity items, and how comparable are they to GW/EvE? . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Buying AUR does not support botting or exploiting, but it does support CCP's poor decisions, which is far worse.

Its actually a trying to get rich decision, they are mixing up 2 payment models. Paying per month to play and have access to everything in the game and micro transtaction where you buy items in game for real money (but these usually are free to play) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pinky: Gee, Brain. What are we going to do tonight?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Compared to other MMO's this is bad how? The #1 MMO uses the same model, except for the MT items are beyond cosmetic. I am pretty sure the basis for all video game companies is to either get rich or stay rich. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

C'mon, quit screwing with their heads Cipher.
They "know" that only F2P games use MT, they "know" that no sucessful game has ever had MT as a supplemental form of income along side another type of payment, they "know" that MT always ruins a game, they "know" that MT items sold that are anything other than strictly cosmetic are works of the devil and foreshadow doom, and they "know" that any video game company that tries to make a profit or market themselves well are evil bastards that hate their player base and will do everything in their power to destroy their own game.
They "know" these things because... because... well because somebody on these forums said it so it MUST be true.
Gotta love the EVE community, just don't confuse them with facts or they get nasty.

WoW has char transfers and server transfers. EQ II has station cash (cosmetic armor, xp gain boosters, cosmetic weapons, mounts). Age of Conan, I play the F2P, haven't checked their store, not interested either. LOTRO has one but it would be cheaper to just sub for that game than to buy the adventure packs etc.

So does paying/plexing for the game.
Your rant reaches such a small sample of the player base, therefore not accomplishing your goal. So please stop posting as well. It save your time and the rest of our eyes from reading your drivel.

Who said I did not want to read your thread? My response was not to you.
I have said in the past that since the NeX store is cosmetic then it is not a problem. I do not need to regurgitate my opinion in every thread on this topic, unlike you, but I will rehash my opinion of people *****ing about the situation when the chances arise.
I have never used MT stores in any game I have played that has had them so I did not respond to your OP, but I wanted to respond to the ass that I responded to and I am allowed to as I am not banned from posting
