Was wondering, has anyone ever been locked into a PvP battle and had a rat spawn influnce the outcome?

yes. I was attacking a maller in .3 gal space. We were both tanking each other pritty well, but then a couple serp cruisers and frigs appeared and attacked us, so he died instead of getting ransomed. ____________________________ Waiting to cut out the deadwood. Edited by: ashland on 24/02/2005 17:45:21 I've attacked someone who was busy engaging rats, a dominix whos only defence was drones dealing with the npc spawn
Luckily he left his drones on the NPC's leaving me to do my thing, Yarrrrrr!

me and my buddy jumped in on a pirate in a domi that was taking out a gate spawn. when my buddy jammed him with his scorp the domi's drones attacked the npc instead of my buddy. that was funny Director, Divine Retribution

Yes. Apoc, mineing barge, hauler, and an ospray
I attacked the mineing barge, but was unable to kill it (it was tanking a bit) as drones tore through my shields, i warp out then warp back in immoblizing the cruiser (who was on the other side of the belt). Drones kill spawn, new spawn right on top of me aids in kill of cruiser then back to the Barge which dies (apoc busy with npcs).

Saw a guy rat hunting in 4GQ. Warp in but hes 50k away (well outside my disruptor range). However, some npc intys are warp scrambling him, so I jam him up and shoot out of a few rounds of torps. His friend comes in to help so I just pop jam them and the megathron goes down, but geddon warps out. Didnt have room for the loot tho and it was 60k away at the time so I just popped it (3 cap recharers IIs) and probably a good named armour rep. Ah well.

Held a thorax down with my crow, and I didn't shoot so I could watch the rats slowly kill him

npc-rats can be a great help in taking down other ships, especially if you are flying an inty or another smaller ship and want to take on larger prey

Yup, was hunting NPC's in Vale with 2 corpmates, couple of former TPS pilots turned up. The odds were initially in our favour as we had more firepower, yet a Guristas spawn (including interceptors and a 750k battleship) decided to spawn right on top of my Apocalypse. Needless to say I got scrambled and webbed on the instant. :)
(and we lost that battle)

I recall "taming" npc spawns back in the day. Basicly, if you tanked and mwded around some gate npcs (the crappy empire frigs) for a while, and got lucky, they'd start orbitting you without attacking. My "minions" were 1k-5k frigs but they attacked anyone who dared to come within range!
I've come across horrible npcs spawns during belt raids though. It can really change things, either for you or for your victim/agressor, especially in 0.0. Dual bship spawn in the middle of a 6 ship fight isn't pretty. -

OOC:I have always been of the opinion that there should be a check against combat presence before spawning more NPCs in belts under 0.5. In higher sec, it makes more sense, but in lower sec it seems excessive; pirates do a fine job of keeping people on their toes and at the keyboard in low sec. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |
