Looks like the malcontents are busy peeing on every thread trying to turn them into a one-note song. Seems they'd have it figured out by now the powers that be have heard all they plan to listen to, and now all they're doing is junking up everyone's posts with their pseudo-political bumper-sticker statements.

Originally by: Pok Nibin The last time I cooked a meal for my family I made them stand before it, arrayed on the kitchen counter and LOOK at it for exactly one (timed) minute, because I knew they were going to wolf it down, and go their merry ways leaving me (after the four hours I spent preparing it) with a table of dishes to clear and wash. (I love this kind of lead.) I did this so they might APPRECIATE the meal (if that were at all possible.)
Because "wolfing down" the meal clearly is no sign of appreciation at all, right? Oh wait it is...
You're saying you want them to appreciate the meal but what you're really saying is that you want to be appreciated for making it. Consequently you should have your family look at you for a minute straight.

[...] Believe it or not I started playing computer games thirty years ago since it was a way to get away from people like this, but since it no longer takes intelligence to play a computer game, everyone and their cousin is now registered with a groovy nick and throwing their weight around like they own the place û which they don't.
Like you just did with that horribly patronizing little rant? Yeah, pretty much.
Originally by: Pok Nibin
But, don't try telling THEM that, since they've made it their life's goal to not listen to anybody anyway.
Really? That doesn't sound plausible at all.
Originally by: Pok Nibin
I look at this game as CCP's canvas. They can paint on it what they want. When I paint, and some ôpersonö suggests I ôthisö or ôthatö to my painting, I think to myself, ôWhat an idiot.ö I'm painting this. If you want that, go paint that. Odd how they usually can't paint anyway, but really know how YOU should.
Are you charging 15$ a month for that painting? No? Then that analogy sucks. And if you're going to charge why would your customers not ask you to make it the way they like it? It's pretty common in the real world. Unless you don't actually have a job and spend all your time making your family suffer for your neuroses.

You spend twenty years cooking for your family and demand they take a moment and just think about it; one minute, and that's neurosis, or "says a lot about you." That's so 21st Century. You are so with it. Go preen in the mirror now with the cool clothes you bought off the corporations you rail against.
Epic irony there. That whole part of your post doesn't relate to anything we've been discussing. Seeing you taking stabs in the dark is fun though. Please continue. I also accept your concession that you really wanted your family to appreciate you and not the meal (which they do anyway). Just as I said btw.
Originally by: Pok Nibin
But, the idea of paying a subscription to use something and being convinced that buys you the right to manage the company? That's so delusional it's NOT funny. Seeing it said by people that live in this day and age makes it strange. Since when has a corporation paid attention to public outcry? Send a memo to Haliburton on this one.
Straw man much? Never did I argue any such thing. Try again.
Originally by: Pok Nibin
The evidence of distorted proportion and grasp of reality? Someone pay an artist $15 a month to have a say in what gets painted.
Again I did not say anything that can be misconstrued that way. You need to learn to read. Either you're illiterate (unlikely for such an old and self-indulgent person) or you're again resorting to a straw man. I merely pointed at one of the obvious holes in your analogy. Customers have expectations when they purchase a product. If those are not met then they may decide to buy somewhere else. That doesn't give them the right to dictate corporation policies (something that I never once implied) but clearly it makes them very different from some stranger who interrupts your painting habits out of nowhere.
If you're still unable to understand why that analogy fails on a basic level then it's probably a good thing you've spent 20 years with making sandwiches (without ever being appreciated no less).
Originally by: Pok Nibin
There...the edit attempted to take you seriously
On that note: given the many words you've dedicated to attacking my character it's reasonable to assume you're already taking this much more serious than you really should.
Originally by: Pok Nibin
- "Then that analogy sucks." You're not paying $15 a month to direct policy at CCP. You're subscribing to a game and are free to cancel at will.
There. I spelled it out a second time for those who have reading comprehension problems.
Again please explain where I did say you should be able to dictate policies at ccp. I simply did two things:
a) make a lighthearted but accurate statement about what you really feel (and this is what made you very angry I suppose)
b) explain that someone rudely interrupting your painting is completely different from customers voicing criticisms on a forum partly dedicated to doing exactly that
Now you're butthurt and I'm laughing my ass off. Now go and make me some hot pockets...

Lol at all the self-entitlement in this thread. "Bu-bu-bu I pay a subscription, they can't do this to me!" Are we really still arguing that? Are you guys seriously going to go on acting like this game grants you special rights and privileges? You know what I'm going to do if the game goes to **** and I no longer want to play it? I'm going to press the unsub button and move on. Because I'm a rational adult, and it's a videogame. "Bu-bu-bu what about all that time you subbed?" What about it? Clearly I enjoyed the service while I paid for it so the money wasn't wasted, and I won't continue to post in the forums after I've left the game or make trials to keep posting because I'm not so backwards ass ******ed to think that I'm going to make a company change its mind about its product. Did the protests really change anything? They said they'd bring back ship spinning (thanks protesters because that feature affected gameplay as much as Captain Quarters does now, Victory to the proletariat!) and confirmed there won't be game breaking micro transactions. Something they never apparently planned from the start. Then we get Incarna performance fixes and new Captain Quarters down the line, both of which would have happened anyway, and a bunch of promises for this winter that I won't care about until they actually are in game. So protester alts, what are the tears for?

I would then have to inquire, "How old are you?" (View that as rhetorical.) I AM retired and work for nobody. Before retirement, I was self-employed.
As no one has presented a cogent argument as to why they've bought a place in CCP's boardroom for $15 a month (and why someone would feel rather used as your cook) the "anti-, au contraire mon ami" responses are ample evidence that I'm right and you're wrong. Nyah.

Customers have a right to complain about a product that is faulty or otherwise does not reach their expectation. It's down to those who provide the product to either listen (which CCP do) or decide to stay the course because the greater majority will accept the product as it is.
There are companies that only care about profit and there are companies that care about the product. A catastrophic series of errors and miss communications lead to people thinking that CCP had become the former.
I worry about those who simply accept the way things are done with a shrug. They are ones who cause companies to care less about their art and more about the money. ----------------------------------- New Eden Chronicles: Prime, Coming soon. |

Buy a clue and get some self-respect, FFS. If you like paying a premium so that you can get lied to and sold a broken product that you then get double-billed for, that's great. Rational people don't.

Originally by: AkJon Ferguson Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with brains. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Fanboi? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom.
You weep for Soundwave and you curse the Bitter Vets. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Soundwave's firing, while tragic, probably saved hangars. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves hangars...
You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like ehonor, code, sandbox...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very hangar I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a keyboard and make a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Yes, customers have the right to complain. YES, merchants have the right to ignore these complaints. Customers THEN have the right to take their business elsewhere. How is EVE above this tried and true free market code of conduct?
