Hey, I can fly an Ishtar with tech 2 everything, anyone know of a good fit that it'll be good for either ratting/plexing? Thanks :)

Edited by: Tippia on 13/07/2011 12:04:43 Depends which rats you're going up against.
The Ishtar is a nice ship in that it can be adjusted to work against pretty much anything (although it really excels in one or two specific cases), but it is also a rather tight fit so making any kind of "universal" build will leave you wanting due to the trade-offs you have to make.
And it's not only a matter of changing hardeners y it's about changing tanking style, which may or may not also include requiring different rigs. yyy tWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explain` aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?v y GGP |

Yeah I know that there is no unverisal fit, but I remember a mate of mine and myself were plexing, I was in a deimos and he was in an Ishtar, he was passive tanking them all and was kiling them all off, made around 60 million at the end. However someone whom I am currently talking to thinks this is bull****... yet I remember it like it was yesterday. Is this not possible anymore or something? Or do people still like to make money from ratting in 0.0 and plex?

ishtar is great against guristas/serpentis as its base res are for them!
passive shield tank is best imo as there are some escalation that neut you to death basically 3 large extenders, 2 hardners "dont need them on most of the time" lows, shield rcharge rate
rigs, as lows,!
you should get about 190-200 hp/s at peak recharge rate
enjoy

Thanks very much for the info, just wondering if I could live off of 0.0 ratting and plexing? With using an ishtar

Depends on your political situation. If the area is owned by blues, you should be fine.
If its NPC, you should be okay if you're smart about it.
If its ninja plexing and you're neut to everyone in someone else's territory, prepare for trouble.
As for doing plexes in an Ishtar, I've done plexes in a Gila (Guristas 6/8 and Serpentis 7) as well as soloed Guristas Bases, Fortresses and the Military Complex. The Gila is basically a shield tanked Ishtar in a way -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Yes. I have 2 ready and rigged for when I need one. Dual-rep for EM/TH sites, and a passive shield for Kin/Exp. Both work very well and are economical to run as if you mess-up they are easily replaceable. |

The memory you have of your mate's passive tanking Ishtar is certainly not BS. I used to use one in Fountain to solo the higher plexes. It has a huge (1300+dps) T2 passive shield tank vs Serps/Guristas. That plus its relatively small sig means it can tank a stupid amount of BS rats.
If you're looking to rat without looting/salvage, a sniper fit is a good option. The 'tar can put 450dps out to over 120km if you fit it right although with its dreadful cpu, you'll need high support skills to fit it.
My personal favourite fit has triple Omni links, SeBo, AB, twin DLA's in the highs and some simple tank including an A-type small repper. I ran all Serp level 4's with it and ratted in a lot of lowsec.

But wouldnt the ishtar mainly rely on the drones? Rather than the guns, or is it all just more to kill with? In the highs would there be anything in particular that could help the tank? OR would it just be wise to fit the ship with guns in the highs, thank for all of your comments :) --------------------

Well if you're trying to use the Ishtar with guns to do anything other than get rat aggro, you're doing it wrong:)
It's a drone boat through & through (although there are some wacky pvp setups that use blasters/rails), it excels with t2 sentries (up to 540dps) and has about 470dps with Ogre II's. Most good tar fits use what cpu they have to fit drone mods link the Omnidirectional Tracking Link and the Drone Link Augmentor, plus the sentry damage rigs (which nerf cpu even more).

Ishtar is a drone boat through and through. Some 200mm ACs or 280mm artillery in the highs go very well to kill off frigs, but all it's DPS comes from drones (T2 sentries).
Ishtars are very good for any anomolie. Needs some help in plexs though. They can tank them ok, but need DPS help

Can anyone give me, pretty please hah, an estimation that a 59 million sp character in a fully tech 2 ishtar with tech 2 sentries and or tech 2 heavies, can make in a plex, or plexes in a day? thank you very much - i dont plex, but I need money.

I had one about a year ago for 0.0 ratting that had a kind of unconventional fit. I'm at work, but it was something along the lines of:
Lows: Dual armor repped, resistance mods Mids: MWD, Large Capacitor Battery, cap rechargers Highs: Cant quite remember, definitely utility (you can go cloak, tract, salv if you want) Rigs: Aux Nano pumps
All drone dps, can tank an ungodly amount and hide from neuts if need be.

Exploration and plexing can generate wild results. It's all based on luck.
I've run a lot of 6/10 Blood Raider sites lately and I've gotten isk ranging from 100m (A-Type Reactive) to 1.8b (A-type EANM, A-Type Medium Rep, A-Type Energy Trans, Ashimmu BPC) from the Overseer.
In nullsec, the X-Types and BPCs are the ones worth something. I don't think an Ishtar can run a 10/10 solo, though. I certainly wouldn't. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

An ishtar is a good ship for plexing, its a great ship against guritas and serpentis because of its natural resists.
As for how much money you make a day.. That will vary greatly on a number of factors. You could make 1billion of a single plex in low sec. But that is rare, some missions will net nothing others a few hundred mill. I would recommend running plexes in low sec as its safeish and the rewards are much better than hi sec.
It also depends how many hours you play a day, how good your exploration skills are (both game skills and real life skills).
As for a fit try something like http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Ishtar_%28Fitting%29#Ishtar.2C_PVE_against_Guristas

used to use an passive shield ishtar for solo lv5s, wicked tank and decent damage considering its size

It really depends on finding plexes and its drops. I tend to find at least 1 plex a week and maybe 5 combat sites a week. There are times where you are hard pressed to find plexes while others, they can spawn all around you.
Plexing is not reliable income but it can pay much better than missioning and mining. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |
