Edited by: Wa''roun on 06/07/2011 21:27:24 I am really getting tired of this. Ever since at least Incarna, drones have been going idle during combat. I will get anywhere from 1-4 drones that decide it is too much trouble and go on break. I have to constantly pay attention to the drone window and spam the attack key when they decide when they want to go on a break. This is NOT a UI window display bug. You can see them meander back to the ship.

Noticed this same thing today with mining drone II's... If assign all 5 to some roid, sometimes couple of them return to orbit ship and go idle after mining a short while. Remaining ones work as intended... Really weird. --- This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. I can also confirm this. I have been playing since 2007 and the problem has always existed, but recently it appears to be a lot more frequent, my drones have a tendancy to swap from the target I have selected and head to a trigger. Most annoying if you do not notice it until the trigger dies.
I have tried on passive and aggressive, makes little to no differance. Sig.
What's your honest opinion? The one thing I can never be wrong about. most everything actually :P |

Drones are my turrets!
I cancelled my ~300d subscription when CCP failed to give a direct answer on non-vanity items initially.. it will get reactivated when my drones start doing as they're told. (Yes, that means that CCP has plenty of time to put the creation of pretty tiaras above fixing drones before I can choose to not pay. Damnit.)
Seriously.. these things need to be fixed not now but years ago. They seem to have pretty much the same behaviour as pre-Incarna except much more exaggerated to the point where they're barely usable without spamming the attack command. (Pre-Incarna, I only had to tell them to attack a target twice a few seconds apart.. heh)

They are like managing a group of five-year olds high on haribo... Their behaviour is so inconsistent it is infuriating, running a complex, my drones start all attacking one target then half-way through some switch to another target, and then one goes idle and lights up a ***. It seems to make no difference what I have them set as, aggressive, passive, focus-fire, no change... someone in CCCP doesn't like Gallente obviously.

The drones will just go idle and watch your ship being dismantled.

Kabumb...
I clarify the reproduce formula in hopes to get blue reply...
Using mining drones in example as the bug is easiest to observe with those.
1. Send 5 mining drones to asteroid. 2. Let them mine untill asteroid depletes. 3. Wait that all drones become idle. 4. Send all 5 drones to new target asteroid. 5. Wait a short while. 6. Observe 2-3 out of 5 drones returning to orbit your ship and going idle with no reason what so ever.

ofc they are, its the new ccp... = get paid but do nothing. It is so interesting to see them making new shirts and ignoring one of the weapon system in the game. I mean seriously, what is more game breaking then not having another shirt, drones are just junk anyways... Not to mention they are nowdays saying everyone buys isk and ban people like madmen :P
( I hope they fix drones this year which it isnt really looking like they are even considering )

This is really ridiculous this hasn't been addressed. Gallente pilots have enough issues to deal with, having to assign drones twice to get something killed is nerfing a key aspect of the whole race. There should be a priority to fix this because it's a game balance issue to have it working as poorly as it is.
Behavior: Assigned drones lose assignment randomly after their first firing cycle on a target. Out of 5 assigned drones I usually see 2-3 go idle. Once assigned the second time, they seem to stick.

Anyone else finding that this has got much worse with the last update?
Am flying a Pilgrim in PVP mostly at the moment, and my drones are my sole weapon system. Caught a Comet that got in web range and it took an age to kill him as my drones kept going idle. Every time they go idle it then gives the opponent an easy time to pop them as they just sit there.
Really frustrating. --

If it's so reproducible (I haven't been using drones a lot lately) how many of you all have filed an actual bug report, just curious.

Obvious bug is obvious :)
You see this with combat drones well also. 1-2 random drones status goes to "idle" once in a while. If drones are set to agressive, they too pick new target almost instantly, but if they are passive, new trigged is needed.
The reason why this new bugged behauviour can be noticed best with mining drones is, that they do not pick new targets automaticly. You always have to send them to their new target manually. If they go idle with their own, you have to resend them to do their task manually again. Passive/aggressive triggers do not apply.
Anyways keep looking the drone status and you see 1 or 2 drones behaving differently than the rest. Make them behave like the rest and you have fixed the bug. --- This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. I submitted a BR on 7/7 and it is attached to a defect but no status as being part of any future build/patch.
If this affected the holy Tengu or the Drake CCP wouldn't rest until it was resolved.
They should really warn new players to only roll Caldari characters and only fly Caldari ships.

There is a lot more they should warn people about before that... like you might (read: will) lose something valuable you own in a split second because of a glitch/bug/hardcoded-exploit and the fact that you have invested many many hours achieving something will not matter because that's how you finance a yacht and japanese jeans. The log shows nothing at all...

Nice to see this is getting the priority it deserves. The bug report I filed about a week after Incarna describing in perfect detail how the problem manifests itself and how it can be reliably reproduced continues to sit there unfiltered still. Don't you think it's time you had a serious look at this serious issue CCP, or are vanity items taking up too much of your developer's time?
