Ah, it's the day some rebellious Brits decided cheeseburgers, high-fives and monster trucks were better than cups of tea, noses in the air and rotten teeth.
Happy Independence Day!

But isnt it funny how the americans actually celebrate it on the wrong day, since they were declared independent on the 2nd of July. John Adams even mentions it in a letter to his wife, where he writes "The second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epoca, in the History of America. ù I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival."
tsk tsk.

Indepence day. It's funny it's being celebrated, when US is by no means independent from the British and their banksters.

Don't know how you come up with that considering it was Britain who was being called Americas lap dog a couple of years back, and as for "banksters", I have a feeling it's the Chinese bankers who have the USA over a barrel, not Britain.
Anyway, happy Independence Day. Hopefully you will stop freeing the **** out of those sand countries sometime soon.

Celebrate America by blowing a small part of it up!
Seriously though I hope my neighbors blow off their fingers...All they do is buy the obnoxious loud fireworks not the fun kind that actually light up.

Yeah, you need to recheck that. The sun set on Britain 60 years ago. British banks (like the British government) hop when the US says "toad."
That's about to change though, because the sun is setting on the US empire now.
Happy Independence Day!

The UK government doesn't always demonstrate the backbone British citizens would like it to, but in this instance, you are wrong.

"Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation.
We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
[crowd cheers]
Such a corny line. Made me feel rather more embarrassed than patriotic. Some of my EU friends said the crowd just busted out laughing at that line in British theaters (and in Sweden too) when it came out in the movies.

That's probably one of the most cheesy, corny, worst written, badly poised, badly delivered and badly thought out speeches in hollywood history.
Still, it's on par with the rest of that abomination of a movie I suppose.

Your knowledge about US econmics lacks it seems.
About 1/4 of US debt are to other nations. 1/4 of foreign debt, is to china. About 3/4 of US debt are to the federal reserve. Which is privately owned, despite it's name.
You should read up on this yourself, you clearly demonstrate a need for it.

July 4th - another facet of exceptionalist mythology.
Once we break away from this comic book view of our history, THEN and only then can America be a truly good country.
