It does not matter what you do, you always get isk if you do it right and everone can not do the same business or it is not good anymore. Find the way that fits your interests and effort.

Basically look at what some of the RL filthy rich do with all their money besides make their kids into entitled spoiled brats you might find some more 'fun' there.
I play for the development of my characters, advancing them through their 'careers' or professions. Ships are means to an end not the end, isk is a means to an end not the end.
More isk means my goals can, in some instances, be achieved sooner but not all some simply require my time in the game doing and learning things.

OP, basically what makes EVE fun is the risk factor right? With all your assets and isk you don't expose yourself to lots of risk as anything other than some insane fitted Titan is going to really dent your wallet. Losing ships and PVP no longer holds risk because you can buy another ship and pimp it. I don't really know what you can do to offset this. It's funny I've actually talked to players in Jita before who were in your situation, they gave me a few 100 million for just talking to them, maybe they did not have a lot of social interaction? Anyway. Obviously you've got the right idea, that the game is about social connections. But I don't think you can find the 'risk' factor anymore, and I don't see how you can get back to that. And giving away most of your isk and assets prob would not make you feel much better. I don't really have a solution for you mate.
It's kinda funny, I thought I'd make an edit as people were talking about isk values and what people consider is rich. I think it is subjective right, if all you love to do is fly frigs and interceptors then rich for you is enough isk to cover losses without needing to really put much effort into recovering loses. If you flying supers, then sure you need to have more money to cover this.

While you are correct op, too much ISK = less fun, if you have a reason to make ISK then it becomes fun, I wont really go into too much detail but I find making trillions is always fun when dealing with sov warfare / alliance agenda's, ofc with 0.0 being so stale atm there really just isnt much point in making ISK. .

Ignore the bourgeoisie, 190mil is rather well off.
I remember not long after I started - a month or two I think - I'd worked my way up to tens of millions, and was feeling quite proud of myself...until someone casually mentioned in corp chat that they'd spent several hundred million on a Carrier skillbook.
I felt so small ---

If you remember nothing else from the blurry memories of your electronically wasted and exploited youth, you would still remember the first days you took your first trek from the cities in EverQuest or had to cross treacherous enemy filled terrain to meet your friends.
Yes, that experience will not be forgotten.
But even if you start as a newbie again and wipe all memory of your previous experince, it won't be the same now. I remember ninja mining in Bridi and Ami with a Retriever while the pirates were gate camping the system, keeping an eye on local chat whenever they ambushed someone and timing my trips out of the system when I knew they weren't around. Keta Min was the CEO of the pirate corp back then, a several billion isk bounty on her head, not even sure if she still plays now. She would have been furious to find out I was mining right under their noses and even refining my ore in the station their pirate corp HQ was based in. I remember sitting in Bridi mining Jaspet with my retriever for 5.5 hours and not even seeing one ship come into the system. That was back way before WTZ when bookmarks had to be set up for any trip into lowsec. Also, that was back when there was also honour in lowsec PVP and you could challenge someone to a 1v1, including podkills and the rest of their corp would watch but stay out of it no matter who won.
You just can't do that any more with so many roaming around lowsec belts looking for miners or ratters to kill. Now, even that honour has gone and even where one could have easily popped you in a 1v1, they'll still all jump on you in a gang. The days of roaming around lowsec finding 1v1 fights is gone too, the minute you find a likely candidate for an evenly matched 1v1, half their corp will log in just to ambush you. I'll say one thing for many pirates back in 2006 and 2007, they had a certain sense of honour if you challenged one of them to a 1v1 fight, they would tell their corp mates to stay out of it and if you beat their guy in a fair fight, they would let you loot the wreck and go in peace. That just doesn't happen any more.
Yup, those newbie days are a time to remember but the days when lowsec was fairly empty are long gone. There are far too many people and not enough systems for it to return to those fun days.

Scam a large corp/alliance, thats what the OP did probably if he isn't into market stuff
btw, that can be the best fun you get here, invest 1-2 years of getting access to everything, then rob them blind.

Most of ppl i know in eve on line have a collector mentality allways wanting more, biger, faster and so on.Im kind of player looking for fun, sensation of risk, action, impro, and so on and seems i dont nead more than frig to have that.
I love being underdog killing a BC in my frig, fighting 3 guys in my cruiser and so on. No nead for expencive implants, ships, officer moduls, haveing ubeer toy is taking all the fun off game.
I love equal fights where final resault is not know and it depend of pilot skill in opereting a ship and not cose of expenciv mods.

I think EVE is what you make of it and though I certainly don't suffer from the same problem of having too much ISK I have found my hunger diminishing.
Personally I think there are a couple of things you could try:
- Take a break - maybe you just need to step away to feel refreshed
- Set a new goal and aggressively try and achieve it - try to monopolise 0.0 or something equally crazy to give yourself a nice hard target
- Start a new character and try and discover the game all over again, perhaps keeping away from people you've come to know in the game so as to meet new people
Ultimately you've enough ISK to allow you to pursue challenges you set yourself, so set yourself some goals, set yourself some restrictions as well to keep it more challenging.

I understand precisely what you're saying OP. We're not quite in the same tier (I'm close), but I think that's more to do with the fact that I let these feelings set in a bit sooner than you probably did.
There does in fact come a point where you're just making ISK for ISK's sake, and that's not particularly important or fun for people who got into this game for the PvP. I know in my case, I transitioned through all the phases, struggling to replace BCs and all that. I think the turning point was honestly when PLEX came out, and I saw it as a fun goal to stop paying RL $$ for my hobby. Things just sort of snowballed from there, till I no longer really had trouble with cashflow at all.
Also yes, this is an alt.

for me, the issue is more of being able to use this money, and accept to lose it.
i made a lot of farming these last months, then stopped. i was planning on using the money to invest on different deals and pvp but... i don't find a good deal for pvp i don't find deal good enough for trading i have issues scaling, and so consider the work needed too much for these small gains.
so i don't do it. i didn't earn even 100m on the last 2 months. however i burnt about 1/4 of my capital during this time. why bother making a bit of money if i can make billions with a bit of farming ?

EVE is actually more shallow than many people realize. Despite having pretty damn decent ingame markets, industry portion of EVE is quite buggy and offers only poor content for advanced players that would like to run larger projects and really impact the gameworld. We are talking about "Sim City" complexity or more here.
So for you the game has already been "won" and you should move on very likely. CCP can`t snap their fingers to make it better.
PVP, no matter on what scale, is what I would call disposable content but for most part is for cheap laughs and evening of fun (occasionally anyway). Scaled up to sov level it becomes tedious borefest.

I have maintained 10-20 bill on my main for about five years now. Reached a point where my burn rate seems to have equalled my income rate. Prolly 'cause I play less now, and fiddle around with less profitable stuff such as PI. I've pretty much owned every ship I want to, and tried most things to do in the game during that time.
To answer the OP, I reckon that the 'thrill' factor comes from the level of risk you run. Now you are rich, you always have a 'safety net' and losses don't mean much.
Try running a 100 billion isk cargo in a T1 hauler from Jita to Amarr, Dixie, Rens and back. That will give you a rush I'm sure, even though the odds on anything happening to you are extremely low. Oh, and please let me know when you do this

You didn't enjoy eve when you were new because you had no ISK - you enjoyed it precisely because everything was new, engrossing, and exciting. You were learning and exploring. Now that is no longer the case - and you happen to be rich, but that isn't what is causing your stagnation.
Ultimately rich and poor alike get 'bittervet' syndrome, where the game they once loved just doesn't quite do it anymore.

it's the Journey, not the Destination
You've enjoyed the whole journey...given the large role in the 0.0 decision making it sounds like you've done a very full journey.
You're probably ready for a new one.
Hopefully the friendships you've made in game will be lasting and you can go on together to other games.
I hear people always come back to eve though.. don't biomass characters or give away your isk for a year or so.

Have to agree with OP. I have roughly 50 bill liquid and 3 Titan BPO's churning out copies for spending money. The game was more fun when I was broke. I remember taking a screenshot of my first battleship just to prove I had one :D I have taken a two year break (kept skills training and copies churning out) but still cant find anything to get my blood pumping. A loss in pvp means nothing. Watching this thread with interest.

You're like a minimum wage worker who wins the super lottery. Instead of continuing to shop at walmart buying more **** than usual you would do well to expand your horizons and change your social/economical routine.
It's nice to be able to buy 100 billion isk in ships but that would be a waste. With 100 billion you can buy CEO's and influence wars. You can pick an alliance and destroy it using politics. Or if you like more immediate gratification you ca hire some mercs to cause a lot of hell directly.
Or if you want to **** off a lot of people you can buy 30 monocles and hand them out to the forums most annoying patrons, people like Mr EPeen, NickyYo, Miila etc.

Making isk used to be allot harder than it is now, and for me that has detracted from the enjoyment. I think its the same for many players now, losing a ship or even a dozen ships doesn't mean much any more. It just mildly irritating having to gather the fittings together for the next dozen hulls.

Very True. Nice to have ISK, but the nothing is as much fun unless you work for it.
Every now and again you hear about ship collectors or people trying to collect every item in the game. This is why.
Or you can go run a corporation or alliance. IF it gets big enough you you will be so busy you will be thankful you have the ISK as you won't have time to earn it.
In other words find something in game that burns LOT of time and keeps you busy. Then the ISK won't mean as much anymore.
The whole point of the game really. |

You are absolutely right!
I used to have a industry char that could build anything, with 400 bil in my wallet, had several chars and accounts, now im down to 1 bil, bored out of my arse of this game, gave my T2 bpos to a RL friend that quit playing the game about 6 months later because he made too much isk and wasnt fun nor challenging any more.
I got rid of all my high sp accounts, have this char in a 0.0 bear renter corp and only come in about once a week to rat some plexes and log off, all the fun is drained done everything and anything.
I really miss the 20 mil sp days were having less than 100 mil in wallet was the norm those were exciting and challenging days. I still have a couple of 8 bil T3 ships collecting dust in empire and I cant even drag my self to use them.
I think my eve days are numbered. Although I might just sell this char and build a new one and start all over again, maybe it will rekindle my love for this game, or take a long break.

I think the OP has a point.
I barely log in now and also have cancelled my sub a few times.
Wasn't pvp, instead went thru industry. At a few hundred billion if liquidated I don't have the same hunger - guess due to achieving largely what I wanted at the outset.
Monocles ain't making me feel too excited about getting back either.....................

If you want to make Isk in eve you gotta activate your isk in investments and not leave it sitting.

Only played for around 2 years. Hit 100b+ NAV somewhere last year.
When i actually did, i suddenly lost all motivation for trading and other oppertunities, so i sold most of my assets, and gave a lot of isk away (and lost a lot in just sillyness as well).
Still kept my accounts running and when i came back after a break i needed to actually do stuff again to make isk again. I even did some missions. Nowadays i'm working on my new master plan and seeing the progress is rewarding as well.
Point is, i got that excitement back again of hauling expensive cargo or expensive ships. If you can replace subcap to infinity and caps multiple times you start to loose feeling for the game-balance as well.
On a side note, this is exactly why i thing the 'legalized RMT' of CCP is wrong (or at least in the current never ending supplies of isk way). New players have the option (not saying that all do) to don't value isk in terms of work and planning if they want.

Welp, im fairly new trying to get a proteus and do wh and incursion stuff but honestly the people who initially got me going have quit and subs just ran out. Im pretty bummed but still focused on my goal. I try to pass along what i learn the hard way, like dont jump into amamake for a shortcut with a facrion cruiser. Lol
I could definately use some help but hate asking but if people want to throw isk, proteii to someone trying to help other new players rebuild the playerbase im willing to travel (OR BE MENTORED AS I MENTOR OTHERS)
Heck maybe that would be fun for you vets..take some of newer but not totally green people how to get to lowsec, nullsec.
Ive made it to 0.2 but not null yet, oh and i have 200mill so im not desperate but the OP talking about the myrm with ogres is EXACTLY the path im on. Still in a vexor for now but still building roden shipyards faction.
