Edited by: Valei Khurelem on 26/06/2011 06:15:25 ..... Should I even bloody bother if micro-transactions really are coming in?
Thanks CCP, you're making me wonder whether its worth even progressing through the game now, I want my ORE mining barge :(
I'm surprised that CCP didn't even consider what silence would to to people that were actually playing the game.

Don't bother, I'm a Rorqual pilot and I have a mining fleet. Not worth it.

Definitely isn't going to be bloody worth it if they're bringing in micro-transactions for real :(

If they bring in MT for ships/ammo etc., they had better refund every miners SP. For the ones that still have active subscriptions that is.

Ask yourself this- Do I feel the need to pay for different clothes than when I created my character with, and do I need a monocle when Im docked in a station? If the answer is no, then its still worth playing. If the answer is yes, and you can afford it, then its still worth playing. If you completely dislike MT-sales, then maybe you need to look for another game. Although there arnt many out there that dont have some kind of MT incorporated into the game.

I spent my first 6 months of eve mining. It's not worth it. It's a huge waste of time. people are always trying to kill you. And it is sooooo boring. unless you are mining arknor or bistot you make almost no ISK. If you are making less then a billion ISK per month you are doing something wrong.

It's not that bad, you just need to multibox an Orca with a few hulks. And play it smart, if you have concerns about the people in the system, dock up or leave. Always watch the scanner.
I enjoy it, I listen to the radio or half watch TV shows while mining. Solo mining is boring, 6+ characters is fun (For someone as boring as me).

You do realize that MT usually means "microtransactions" right? $22 shirts and $68 monocles have nothing micro about them.

I control 6, an Orca, 4 Hulks and a hauler. Within a week after I finish Drone Interfacing 5, the hulks will be max yield. 80 days until the Orca is max bonuses. I can make approx. 100mil per hour, which doesn't include freighter time. Naturally I'm in hisec, I don't have the funds/friends to risk nullsec yet.
People are unreliable, I'm available to mine whenever I feel like it :). I was told that mining was useless, but I'm finding that it's not too bad, it's relaxing after work and when I stop wasting my ISK on stupid ****, I can play for free.
*edit* Of course, this may have all resulted in wasted time/money, I guess we'll find out soon.

Completely disregarding the ongoing ****storm..
Don't bother with Retrievers. MT or not. Wait sometime and get a covetor instead. Then work your way as far as possible to a hulk.
Even then you'd make more money running missions.
Retrievers don't make you much money.. if you get 10 million with 8 hours worth of mining on that ship, then i'll say you have All Level V skills and should be mining on a hulk instead.
And retrievers are much too easely ganked. Trust me, i did it before. With a 983.000 isk ship (with fitting and ammunition) i can kill you anywhere from 0.7 and below. ____________

Once MT allows people to buy everything the industrial base will collapse, and there will be no money in mining whatsoever. I'm like you, I can pull 120 mil / hr in hi sec. Was going to go for cap ship, but screw it now. I'll dish out my isk to my buds & be done with it.

But all of those are a free to play set up. None of them make you pay a monthly subscription fee.

wow! That's on a whole new level then I ever went to with mining. Sounds like a huge amount of effort. I'm way more kick back. I spend a few hours ratting in a carrier and make about 500 million in a few hours with 1 toon.

Yeah Retriever is kind of underwhelming (A battleship will out mine it), Covetor is an absolute bargain for it's price and a solid mining ship, Hulk is incredible (no pun intended).
If you're going to mine, you have to love it.

I'm sure you have more personal experience with Eve, for myself if I was using a carrier to rat, I'm sure that I would get ganked :). I've never fired at another player, or been fired upon in a year of playing.

Edited by: Renan Ruivo on 26/06/2011 07:04:27 The issue with MT are but a few. Number one, selling things like Faction Standings, and SP recovery. Number two selling manufactured things instead of blueprints and Number Three selling EVERYTHING that is made by EVE content creators.
You want Premium GraphicsV (Trinity Expansion)? NeX. You want New TurretsV? NeX. You want Cal/Gal/Amarr/Pirate CQ? NeX. You want to unlock your door and walk into Station? Need a license to breathe the "Capsuleer AirV". How? NeX. You want old Cyno effect? NeX.
See where i'm going there?

If it was as easy thing to do as he is making you believe, he would also be ganked. Its not a "laid back" thing to do, unless you consider being on your toes the entire time "laid back". ____________

Just leave it a couple of months and then; (1) Pay $50 for the skillpoints to fly a Hulk (2) Pay $30 for a fitted Hulk (3) Pay $80 for a hangar full of minerals (4) Sell the minerals on the market (5) Buy a monocle (6) Go play something else

Would just like to say how refreshing it is to see a thread in general discussion that isn't made of fire & brimstone. I'm pretty impressed by the multiboxing Orcas; I'm only just able to fly a BS decently and am happy if I make 10mil/hour doing L4 missions.
I also listen to radio/watch TV when mining in my Retriever, I can't be bothered going all seriouscat on mining though. :D
