according to this http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1536495 there are over 3500 accounts no longer present on EvE.
Thats more than 52,000$ a month in lost profits.
But dont worry CCP, i'm sure your new microtransactions, and the awesome profits you expect will certainly out weigh the massive losses you've incurred as a result.
GJ, Congrats, and have a nice day.

I'm fairly new to the game -- what has really changed? (I've played for like 2 weeks)
I understand they added Aur which is insane to use without spending a fortune of real cash. And they added video card fan spinning and got rid of ship spinning.
What else has changed as far as gameplay goes?

Ok allow me to explain to the "special people": - You know even after you unsub your account you need to wait the days left on your account right before the account is frozen? and this not just in EVE, its in any MMO.

What has changed ? a fundamental shift in CCP's thinking, they used to care for the game and its players, now greed is their only goal. When any company decides "to hell" with its customers its time to leave or fight back, as most here still realy do care for the game, they have opted to fight back. CCP has described you as a "cash cow" to be milked, those are their words, not mine.

Why do the "special people" are allowed to post in the forums?
Unsubed accounts means when the account is frozen they will loose 3500 * 15Ç/$..

Nothing yet, but a leaked CCP internal doc discussed 'micro'transactions for a whole lot more than just vanity items, and while CCP have acknowledged the leak as legit they've urged caution but not actually gone out and stated that they're not gonna follow through on the ideas, and a lot of players are extremely narked off at the idea of people throwing a heap of IRL money at the game and getting leet skills, ships and modules out of thin air; they're seeing the current existence of NeX as a prelude for the above happening eventually (and seeing CCP refusing to deny that this could happen/is definitely in the works) and pre-emptively expressing their displeasure in an attempt to head the whole thing off at the pass.
To add to that general aura of discontent there's the widely accepted fact (among everyone not part of CCP at least) that the current NeX prices are far too high, which does nothing to shore up failing faith in CCP's connection with reality, and general disgust with the way CCP have handled this whole debacle thus far.

Right... so a blazing total of 1.16% percent of the playerbase has left? That's kind of pitiful really.

What has changed is the fact that they are going to sell things like ships, ammo, implants and whathaveyou for real money. Meaning that it isnt made in game and if you have enough money you can give yourself and your group an unfair advantage, which is a major problem seeing as Eve online is a PVP based game.
As an easy to digest analogy, what eve are going to do is the same as not only suddenly allowing bribery in proffesional boxing, but making is a neccesary part of the sport.

There are 2 things you have to consider with that. CCP has shown themselves to be untrustworthy, so thier 350k playerbase statement may well be a massive overstatement.
And the amount of unsubs is actually more than that, that is just the amount of REPORTED unsubs.

You know, I've been asking myself that very same question the last couple of days.
You've already paid for that time my friend. They don't actually start feeling the hit until your time runs out, which could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months away.
Of course, by then all this will be sorted out and it will be ancient history. By that same token, the majority of players will realize that and have already resubscribed so as not to lose any training time.
But you go right ahead if it helps you get through the night sugar. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

I suspect, and have read many say, they are waiting for an official response from CPP if they are going to/or have considered putting non-vanity items on the Nex market. IE- ships, ammo, SP boosts, faction rep.
I think once we get a concrete answer to this main question, we will see that A) People will really leave the game and unsub if the answer is -Yes or B) they will stay because their main concerns have been put to rest. a -No answer.
The numbers are unimportant right now. CCPs response is the most important thing atm. After that....then you can start counting.

You have a wonderful and vivid imagination.
What he meant to say is that people are concerned that the above MIGHT happen.
Most of this concern is based on an internal document entitled Greed is Good? (You know, the catch phrase from the movie Wall Street where the villain loses everything because of his unethical business practices). In this document CCP employee's were asked to write articles from that extreme point of view to spark employee discussions on why they are handling MT as they are.
This article, out of context, was leaked to the internet version of FOX news and presented as CCP's new vision for MT transactions.

(Remember: Forums = vocal minority.) 2) Just because they are unsubbed, Doesn't mean they won't login to chat with their friends or some other nonsense. It is a social game primarily. 3) This weekends peak (as of writing this) is 50k users. Last weekends peak was 57k users. The average seems to be around 53-54k users on at this time on weekends in the past six weeks, It's not exactly the biggest window to use as an example, But it should be fairly telling regardless.

At this point it time, not much. We're more worried about what is possibly going to change in the near future. CCP seems to have a Pay to win (P2W) + subscription model in mind which is a massive change. The largest of which is this concept that they'll just magically create items out of thin air which would inflict a great deal of damage on the in game economy. As I'm sure you've come to realize in your short stay with us thus far, the economy is one of the reasons that eve is unlike any other MMO out there. Just about everything is player made so this is a deep concern for industrialists, marketeers and pvp'ers alike. The idea of "P2W", and even Micro-transactions in general, have been something that CCP has claimed would never happen, and then backpedaled on. So the "Greed is Good" PDF as well as the internal E-mail memo have us feeling that we're being told (A) while CCP yet again secretly tries to implement (B).
That being said there are also people angry at what they see as a shift in the game from 'spaceships' to 'dress up,' which is valid. They worry about their subscription fees being utilized to add non-content to an :internet:spaceship: game that is suffering from an ill-advised SoV design (in null-sec,) as well as multiple balance issues in pvp and the T2 tech tree.
Then you have individuals ****ed off at Aurum prices in the NeX because they wanted to actually buy stuff at a reasonable price and now they won't on principle. I spend roughly 45 USD already on a hobby each month, which in the grand scheme of things isn't excessive, but having to rationalize some new t-shirt for my avatar that costs more than the pair of shoes I wear in RL.. Not going to happen.
Some people are ****ed off that bugs which have been known for ages still aren't getting fixed, and these feelings are only exacerbated by the fact that they added 'internet dress-up' to the game. This is where you'll hear comments like "18 Months." It's a sad sad joke (in the sense that it often is true,) that CCP takes 18 months to fix anything, if they get around to it at all.
So ya, not much has changed as far as gameplay goes.. and that kind of is the problem too. You'd expect an expansion to give you 'game content.' But the P2W issues with MT (money trading) is generally the primary concern. Hope you enjoy the game, it truly is a great experience, although mostly due to the community. People get ****ed around here because they genuinely love the game, and they don't feel that's being mirrored in CCP's top tier staff.
