We live in interesting times; in fact CCP is the kind of company that if things get repetitive we instinctively crank it up a notch. That, we certainly have done this week. First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember.
But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality one can apply to virtual worlds with the beautiful Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to make virtual reality more meaningful than real life when it comes to launching our new virtual goods currency, Aurum.
Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.
This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.
We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected.
All that said, I couldn+ót be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before.
(end) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok everyone calm down I think we as the player base new and old need to focus on that part of the sentence - "we look at what our players do and less of what they say". To me hes is trying to justify what route hes taking CCP after introducing GTC and plex but also he hes got to be justifying plex and gtc knowing that people buy isk from isk farmers not everyone buys isk from isk farmer I developed a method of making 7 bil in a week to like a week and a half.

It's a decent point, though. Players post all the time about how they're quitting, but a month later they're still in game.
If players are using the NeX, spending lots of time interacting with CQ, and they have mathematical proof that the number of forum posters or local spammers are less than, say 5% of the entire eve playerbase?
(Those are big if's, and I have no proof of any of those figures)
They're looking at usage and statistics. They see more than we do.
Unless, of course, their logs show nothing

Alright lets look at what your players are doing
There probably buying many more monocles now becuase of the novelty and the monocle sales will drop off (there is a very small market for them)
52 monocles * 80 dollars = 4160 dollars made
Considering in the list of known accounts which have unsubdued of is almost 800 and assuming that only half of that number have actual unsubbed
400 * -15 = -6000
4160 - 6000 = -1840 Dollars lost this month and unless monocle sales stay super high (which it wont) they will have an even greater opportunity cost in the months to come (when those accounts remain unsubbed)
And keep in mind that that was a super low ball estimate the money ccp may actually lose may be much much higher.

No, don't let them keep your money. If you are still in the timerange, do a chargeback, of if you used paypal, file a dispute. Though I understand if your past the 60 days you have to file it. No reason they should be paid for this crap.

I say cancel all your alts asap then kick back for a few days see the the response to the community then based on that develop a timeline when you will fully quit EvE or stay.

THIS. I got 80 bucks back from my bank for all the wasted money I gave to CCP. They gave up their right to our money when they betrayed their playerbase

Hopefully he's also looked at other metrics besides monocles :)
...like the amount of plex being dumped on the market, the day after the patch 50% more plex than usual was sold as people who bought some prior to the incarna launch with the idea to turn them into AUR realised there was no point and started dumping them back, plex price has now dropped around 35mil in a couple of days due to the sell off. All these plex would have been spent in MT's if they were priced sensibly, we're talking over 1000 more plex than on a normal day sold off (a lot more than 52 monocles).
...would be interesting to see the collated numbers over the next month regarding how many accounts let their subscriptions expire instead of renewing them.
...will be interesting to watch the stats regarding how many players are on line, both in total and at peak times over the next few weeks as subscribers start to drop off.

Which is exactly why more people needs to post it. The way they are currently treating this PR nightmare is acting like N. Korea. "They can't read it if we delete it, and if they can't read it it's not true!". All Hail the people that are continuously posting that BS that is the internal documents that has the underlying message "our customers don't mean anything, we do what we want, they're too dumb to do anything about it". That's fine as long as he knows he'll get banned. I suspect he doesn't.
No big deal getting banned from eve-o now anyway as its all spin. Want a more unspun approach then best go elsewhere - at least on other sites the likelihood of being systematically misled (lied to really) is less.
