Right now ? Absolutely not. Soon ? Highly unlikely. SoonÖ ? Depends how bad their financial situation gets. Eventually ? Almost certainly. Just pray it's in the distant enough future for you to no longer care. _

Edited by: Playing Eve on 25/06/2011 01:57:52 You don't even need to read between the lines. From Zulu's last dev blog:
Quote: So this thing is vanity items only?
Yes... As time progresses, we'll...revise our strategy. We've also discussed this issue in depth with the Council of Stellar Management and will both consult with them and keep them up to date every step of the way.
So they said vanity item only, but then admitted that they would revise their strategy on that as time progresses. That, coupled with the Fearless articles on micro-transactions (and their careful avoidance of making any promises now), shows that they do indeed hope to to add non-vanity items as soon as they think they can slip it by us.

On the bright side, if they follow their pricing model, a frigate will cost $50,000, a cruiser $250,000 and a battleship will be $5,000,000.

from the leaked "Fearless" publication that apparently started the entire OWTRAGE.
"I don't oppose the concept of virtual goods in the case of vanity items, merely in cases where the monetization of items impacts the balance of the game." - John Tubefield
but no one is mentioning the anti-MT portion of the "Fearless" publication cause, ya know, that won't get my blog more hits.

Untrue - JT has a whole /love thread of his own going actually. They should put him in charge, actually. He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

Quote: Virtual goods sales in EVE Online will evolve through sales of vanity items, first in Incarna but later in-space features. The scope will be (and thereæs no design has been done around this, weære just talking strategy now) that anything that doesnæt affect gameplay directly can be, potentially, sold for PLEX or other means. Ideas that have come up include Incarna clothing and furniture, logos on spaceships and swapping out portraits. This is by no means a comprehensive list, nor is it a commitment that said items will be available for sale, I mention these as an example for what type of items weære thinking about.

Edited by: Serenthris Landry on 25/06/2011 02:11:51 Judging by CCPs adamant refusal to answer this question I believe we can accurately infer that the answer to this is indeed and emphatically yes.

You can't purchase anything for real-world cash except plex.
Anything they add will be available through isk -> plex -> aurum -> item and that's if it isn't available on the market anyway, like all the clothes are currently.
Whats the big deal?
The only problem is if they add a new ship or module that is better than anything currently available and don't provide a method to produce it. I doubt this is going to happen.

Yes. We will start out with a rather limited number of items initially, carefully measuring the demand and how it impacts the economy. As time progresses, we'll gradually introduce new items and revise our strategy
Is the full quote do you spot the wiggle room there so they cant be accused of lieing to us.

All i see is that whoever wrote that dev-blog didnt repeat "vanity items only" inbetween ever other word. Im assumeing that is because they believed that more people would be like me and understand that everything after the 'yes' was meant to be specific to vanity items that the 'yes' said would be the only things ever added to it. I guess they forgot that so many people will jump 5ly's to the left and imediatly assume they are going to go back on something they answerd 5 words befor. --------------------------------------------- "Only two great species on this planet take part in massive, organized warfare. Or if you prefer.
Yes. We will start out with a rather limited number of {vanity] items initially, carefully measuring the demand and how it impacts the economy. As time progresses, we'll gradually introduce new {vanity} items and revise our strategy.
We can give you the pre-school version that shows you what they meant.
*note* would have eddited my first post but for some reason the 'reply to topic' box is constantly scrolling 'up' on me whenever i try to type more than 2 or 3 lines below the edge and i cant figure out why yet.

Of course there is wiggle room. Companies simply cant make a statement like you want to here. There is no way they can predict the decisions of management if the company changes hands. Who knows what the economic climate will look like in 20 years, 50 years?
The best you will ever get from a company or person is what they can honestly tell you about right now. And for right now their policy is clear. You want a 100% guarantee that something will never happen? Well harden the **** up, life doesn't work that way.
