This. I didn't see anything about non-vanity items. CCP can charge whatever they want for vanity stuff as far as I'm concerned. It won't affect me.

I'm sort of a non-reactionary person. But after reading that email, which I do not doubt is real, I have nuked my second account. This one will stick around for a CCP response. If it is similar, I will nuke this account. And maybe get a ****ing job or something.
I have never ever played any other MMO. I used to make fun of people playing eve. Talking about mining and pirates and ****. I was like look at these ****ing nerds. Pitiful.
My wife decided she wanted me to stay home with the kid, and went back to work and I got obscenely bored. I said **** it. Lets see what these people were talking about. I have been a loyal customer since 2004 as a result.
I flew from Seattle to Norway, took fast boats to the ****ing backwoods on the Sognefjord, and my wife and I stayed a week at the home of a guy that has been flying with me for years, all because of this game.
To me, a non-gamer, it is ****ing astounding that this could happen, and I am honestly sad that it is going in the ****ter. Literally a shock.
HTFU CCP. Don't be THAT company.

No, you didn't....I guess you did..sigh...
I say this with much regret...goodbye.
I didn't think there was ever a thing that could make me leave this game been playing since 2006. Its not MT, people want to spend big bucks for stuff be my guest, I was all for CCP making as much revenue as they could.
That e-mail changed everything
This smug attitude though...I wouldn't take that from anyone..especially someone I am paying. You expect us to pay for the priviledge of your comtempt?!?!? I am actually getting madder by the minute...

It's not the vanity pricing that's bad about that e-mail. It's the saying they don't care what their player's say.

I just got sucked into EVE personally... so I don't know a lot about the game. I did buy the game back in 2009 mind you.
So, because I don't know a lot about the game or CPP as a whole I can only really make a statement on one thing...
The moment you start trying to compare a VIRTUAL clothing item to real life products of any value is the moment you should be checking yourself into the crazy house.
I was seriously laughing after reading what was said about the clothing item price points... I was hoping it was a joke.
YOU CANNOT COMPARE VIRTUAL GOODS TO THAT OF REAL LIFE PRODUCTS.
Would I buy a decent shirt in the real world for 20 dollars? Sure, why? Because it would last me a long time and be with me always.
Will I buy a virtual shirt in a game mostly based around spaceships for 20 dollars? Hell no. Why? Because it's VIRTUAL. It's not worth my hard earned money at that price point. Not to mention if I get podded I lose that 20 dollars outright.
Honestly I am disgusted by the prices... I'm not a cheap person, I would gladly spend a PLEX on virtual clothing items IF
#1 I could get an entire outfit head-to-toe for the cost of one PLEX purchase
#2 Those virtual goods were from that point on in my list of clothing options so that any character I make on that account or if I get podded they are usable.
----------
Make all items of clothing the same price then allow us to pick and choose a clothing piece for every part of our avatar for the cost of ONE PLEX
----------
This has me worried about the future. I'm putting a lot of effort into trying to get a decent corporation off the ground consisting of a lot of newer pilots... what happens if CPP decided to add items into the Aurum store that affected the way corporation runs?

How many people do we normally have logged in on a Friday? Sunday is usually the best measure anyway. Pretty sure a good portion of the 'not logged in' are probably alts. Of all the people posting in this thread, I'm certain that a few are alts. Of the massive number of posts, (over 6400), in that other thread, I'm fairly certain many are alts, but quite a few are also people posting responses to other posters.
Wow.. it's like spending days sitting in a seedy bar, watching Jerry Springer stories come alive in front of you.
Honestly haven't read barely anything, and I feel sorry for the Dev's in a way, actually having to put effort into reading some of this. I couldn't be bothered, as the first 9 pages of that other one ****ed me off when I did decide to read it. Just a bunch of bunk. Repetitive, droll, irritating trash-talk.
Grow up people. You aren't the center of the universe, and your over-inflated sense of self importance is so pompous and wind-baggy it isn't worth reading what you have to say. For some of you that actually got it right: Good on you, you have some sense.
For the rest of you: Learn how to discuss things, and quit making over-arching selfish demands. I honestly don't think one of you puppies has stepped out of their house in a decade and taken the time to learn how the world works. You demonstrate such obtuse ignorance, I can't even believe you work for a living, or even pay your own bills.
Bunch of pre-pubescent kids, and in the case where that's actually true, I'm sorry, you at least have the excuse to be ignorant. The rest don't.

It's not the vanity pricing that's bad about that e-mail. It's the saying they don't care what their player's say.

I think taking away station spinning was a way for CCP to force players into their avatars and into the RMT mindset. Pod pilots don't need clothes if they stay in their pods.

We live in interesting times; in fact CCP is the kind of company that if things get repetitive we instinctively crank it up a notch. That, we certainly have done this week. First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember.
But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality one can apply to virtual worlds with the beautiful Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to make virtual reality more meaningful than real life when it comes to launching our new virtual goods currency, Aurum.
Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.
This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.
We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected.
All that said, I couldnGÇÖt be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before.
(end)
All I have to say is
GG CCP, GG
This CANNOT be real...it beggars belief
52 Monacles, out of a bragged 340,000 subs. /golfclap.
He's right though, let them watch what we do. Cancel your subs, explain to your friends why, invite them to do the same. Don't get yourself into any trouble doing anything illegal, be Fearless and walk away.
PS: I've seen CEO bs before but this is Steve Ballmer level weaponsgrade ignorance.
PPS: Bluesnews.com (who was around about a decade before CCP) is also covering this fiasco. Was that predictable too? Being the laughing stock of the gaming industry and software industry in general?

What I wanna say will get me banned. What I think will get me arrested.
CCP has major communication issues and I believe them to all be internally. IF that is a real email from Hilmar then CCP is done for. All our money and time is wasted for nothing. This is beyond words and actions and to be honest I'm seriously contemplating leaving EVE. As a new player, this is by far the biggest FKU move I've ever seen from ANY game company. CCP used to listen to the players and they would implement their ideas if possible.
The balance has shifted away from the players and this is a programmed response from us the community. HOWEVER, as a lower income player(IRL) I cannot afford one cent to pay for these NeX items. I can barely afford to pay for one account (although I pay for the 2nd with PLEX).
In my opinion, this is a last ditch effort on CCPs effort to avoid a bankruptcy. Their money is all spent (probably on hookers and blow) and they can no longer sustain the servers and site and they know it but they have lost the transparency they used to have. If I was in the position of an investor, I would withdraw IMMEDIATELY. I'm no one special, but at the same time, I have some fkn common sense. These are broken promises and when the ENTIRE community save for a few fanboys is in a rage fit over this, there should be some action. Unfortunately for us, there will be none.
(Here's a better analogy than the $1000 jeans so take note Zulu). Once a dog tastes blood, they want more. This is what CCP is doing. As with all major game developers, they caught the scent of money and they liked it. The way it's being handled is completely unacceptable on both CCP's end and on our end. We're out locking systems, raping monuments, rage quitting, and causing general chaos. CCP let me point out a better way for you....
Take note of Funcom's 10 year old classic MMO set 20000 years into the future, Anarchy Online. This game hasn't had a graphics engine update since the game was launched in 2001 yet their fanbase is 20x yours. They have a free to play version as well as the paid version. You have approx 360k paid accounts. You have lost 10k players in like 6 hours over Zulu's post and CCP's new 180 degree direction. Funcom however knows how to tell their fans FU but make it worth their while. You guys however have zero tact when it comes to this.
In short let me just say this:
You think your money troubles are big now? Wait till your ENTIRE fanbase leaves you and goes to play STO (for the short months it will be up) until the next spaceship MMO comes out which is superior to EVE in every way including their people skills.

This Blog was complete and utter waste of time. The real questions were not answered and CCP only trying to **** paste us all over. If you took one day and came with this crap god help you. Let us know if you need any help?
Now the real questions, actually it's only one question.
Are you moving beyond Vanity Items
You have to answer this question, we are not asking you to stop doing what you want, hell if someone throws their foot at axe, what should I care for? But we deserve the right to know answer for this question, as sticking with Eve-Online or Greed-Offline will depend on it.
Once again i will rephrase the question,in case you are too busy milking the cash cows/golden goose and skipped it.
Are you moving beyond Vanity Items
And don't even think you can skip answer to this and this will come to and end, it WILL NOT!!!!

PC-Gamer has got this article up.
Quote: The Incarna update for Eve-Online is not going especially well for the gameÆs developers, CCP. First, thereÆs the $60+ monocle that players can buy and equip to their new avatars. Then thereÆs the threat of pay-to-win items entering the game system via microtransactions.
Seems like they have a different definition about smooth and successful there.
Seems like they're also laughing at you CCP.

1) The prices are too high it feels unfair. Zulu said there will be other products that will be lower in price why? only because the first items had to be so high for you to make more money ? was it a test? those first items are pretty ugly especially that military dress shirt that isn't even tucked in or I would have bought it I'm thinking with the Aurum shop being so sucky at first why would anything being made after this be lower in price ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? do you get my point ?
