Anybody played Eve on a 32inch LED Tv at 1080 x 1920?
What's it like?

Since I also want to use it for artwork, and developing, I don't want too large so 32" seems desktopable for all purposes without powerpoint size text and big button phone type icons :)
Just wondering how it is with regular desktop use too since it will be my main monitor then.
Was concerned that the larger pixel size on the panel with the same HD resolution maybe a factor.
Also don't forget I will be sitting probably 2 foot from it :)

Playing on 3 24inch monitors 5040x1050 and its great more screen real estate. One large wont make that much difference as the resolution wont change. Everything will just be bigger.

I dont know the technical why but for some reason EVE looks better on my TV than my monitor (Acer 22 inch). The colors look richer. _ _________ _ "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." |

That is exactly what I play it on. it is a vast improvement on what i played on before. I use my old monitor to have the like of dotlan up when fcing or just out of game browser when I am not. Colours are crisp and you have room to move your windows around and still see everything. When i travel and revert to my laptop i struggle. Spoiled myself I guess.

Not to sound rude... but are you okay Miilla? I am asking because your posts seem nice today compared to what you normally post.
Anyway, I only have 22", but would love to get that 70" one they just started advertising recently. Would be awesome to play Eve on a screen that big.

60in 3D 1080P TV -- sat about 6ft away from the screen wireless keyboard & mouse & it works fine for me.
Although that not what your asking though is it, actually i had to use a 32in TV when my Monitor broke, i just put it on a little table next to me & it worked fine. Internet Games & Movies all as they should do.
Is it a case of getting teh 1080p resolutioin or is it the screen size your after, 27in monitor are fine, plus there doing them at stupid resolutions of 2560 X 1400 & 1600. But those go for a bit more.

I run on my 32" 1080 Panasonic via HDMI and its awesome. Can require a bit of fussing with the custom resolution you sometimes have to set, but very easy to do with NVidia. otherwise its +++++ |

The point of having a big computer screen is to fit more pixels, not larger pixels.
So:
24" @ 1920x1200 (screw 1920x1080) 27" @ 2560x1440 30" @ 2560x1600

Total Win that one, 14ft is that bigger or smaller than 150in is what i managed to get my projector screen size too. The only problem is the bulbs when they blow can cost a fortune.

I got a new 24" and since its HD resolution ( I had a higher res before but they're harder to get now due to HD and manufacturing costs I bet ).
Was looking at 32" TV's because they are pretty cheap.
I doubt I can get a higher than HD resolution at a reasonable price, so standard HD most likely.
I will proably take a laptop into the store with HDMI cable and try one. They said I could.
Also we got a 55" LED 3D (bloody expensive) but it always look washed out, maybe it just needs set better.
But I am concerened that close up normal desktop and text work would be a problem on HD resolutions at higher screen areas.

I play on a 55" 1080p Samsung and I quite like it. I do wish I could add a second monitor and move the boxes (only the boxes, not the pull the screen over) to it though so I could have the chat boxes, contracts and all of that not mucking up my space view.

Edited by: X''aron on 21/06/2011 19:15:59 I use a 36" LCD HDTV. running 1920 x 1080. its different for sure. Even by using the HDMI connection, the text is odd looking, yet using the pc interface (standard 15pin) it looks clean. My guess is the hdmi imput is blurring things (for movies etc) and even messing with the sharp, contrast its still not as good. most of the time i just use the 15pin/vga connection, er sometimes the tv's software has trouble stretching everything when/if you change resolutions. Prob just an option i haven't discovered yet.
Only thing i do wish i waited for was the LED version, gets a bit warm in the man cave with all this stuff running lol. LED would have better contrast, prob better colors and run a lot cooler (prob save on the electric bill as well a bit.)

Tried playing it on 1080 * 1920 at 40"
You can't sit right in front of it, it'll frigging kill your neck. When you sit at comfortable distance, it gets hard to read stuff, things get really small.
Rather play on one or two regular monitors

Its 168inches. Also, you can buy bulbs in bulk online and save a fortune compared to buying them at a store.

in bulk? lol we are not talking about light bulbs here these things cost 200$ minimum each. and they last for years... sth tells me the only time you've seen a projector was at your local cinema.

I bet.
I used to have a nice Higher than HD samsung, then for some reason a few resolutions over VGA died ( I blame Win 7 VGA spotty compatibility for this - known issues ), so I went and got a 24" LG (first time not buying Samsun), then was looking for a inexpensive 32" TV so I was thinking of replacing my new 24" with a 32" TV as theyre falling in price fast.
Sure Id love a higher than HD but they're not cheap with a TV Tuner (and USB tuners suck goats), so I am pretty much stuck with HD resoution.
If I have to get a dedicated monitor, I probably wont bother, the TV tuner included is just an excuse to upgrade it :)

I found it all fine to be working with, reading internet playing games etc etc. One major problem i got was getting a DIV to HDMI cable, as i was being cheap at the time, so of course i was having to use the highest DVI-D setting which was 1360 X 768, still it was ok. All the text was readable. I was about 2ft away from teh screen as well. I'm pretty sure no TV's come with DVI input's, VGA's Yes but DVI no. So what ever your graphics card outputs make sure you have a cable to do connect. Only an HDMI & DVI will do full 1080 HD, VGA & Componet cables will only get you to 720P
The only probelm i can think of which i didn't get was if you were sat at a desk with such a large screen ... The neck ache issue, although then why would they sell 30in monitors. I'm sure it would pass anyway.
3D TV for the Win .. can i get a Woop-Woop
As for the projector issue i failed by a foot & a half. The shame of it, ha ha. Well i made up for it by having 5.1 surround sound hooked up to it at the same time.

I use a 36' LCD TV...
I've found the most crisp setting was at 1360 x 768. It will look just like a giant monitor and give you plenty of room to adjust things. If you go higher it will fuzz the text at normal viewing distance and lower will make things too big.
Try it out...and you'll need to make sure you adjust your TV to provide a crisp picture. Take awhile to dial in, but its worth it.
I also run a 13 inch to the left and to the right for panels that I keep up all the time and I don't want to block the action.

So 1360 x 768 is its native resolution and it goes higher "non native" for tv?
If so, sounds like something to watch for, the native resolution of 1080 x 1920.

2560 x 1440 on a 27" iMac. Its nice. You can have a lot more windows open (eg pull out local chat, dscan etc) and still see a lot of the action.

No it's native resolution would be the 1920 X 1080, but setting it for a 1360 X 768 is better for viewing internet related stuff because of all the text i suppose. Plus 1360 X 768 is the widescreen 720P res.
You could even leave it there for watching TV, becasue even HD TV is filmed at 720 res, & not 1080. Don't know how many people know that, but blu-rays are the only thing making use of the full 1080P resolution.
