perhaps if the commentator from hhydra hadn't blabbed how garmon had pulled strings to get outbreak into the other pool to set up the final this would be a bit easier to accept, but it just sounds like one fix after another tbh.
and really how can all the hydra pvpers claim to be so leet because they beat all the other teams and then in the next breath say "ah sorry we just ****ed it all up in the final" right
Sorry but teams as good as you all claim to be don't mess up like u are claiming, outbreak just stopped firing ... exactly as it was meant to be.
Sorry amber this is a very poor troll or an even more pathetic attempt at damage limitation

I can't blame you for attempting to get 2 teams in the final, but that match was a disgrace. You could have at least tried to make it look real...

You accomplished nothing today, you only won because your 'friend's outbreak stopped fighting just like how they let Razor advance when there was no need to.
We "only won" because we defeated every other team in the tournament, and so did Outbreak, for us to pull this maneuver off in the first place.
and it you'd had a proper fight in the final everyone would have applauded that fact but your collective arrogance and penchant for trolling those u feel superior too (all of eve basically) meant you decided to **** on final and disappoint the nearly 30k ppl who turned up to see what is supposed to be a high point in the eve calendar. Well done, you killed the AT ... does it feel good ?

Originally by: Dalen Skyard Here's my take on it.
As a new player, watching this tournament got me really excited to keep playing EVE. Hearing all of the different tactics, the spying, the wormhole use was very very cool.
Then the quarters and semis came around. Some really close matches, lots of cool stuff happening.
Then nothing. One ship calmly taking down people who might as well have been afk. It was boring and made me regret ignoring chores and spending that last hour and a half waiting for the finals.
If CCP's going to go the extra mile and have a nice set, broadcast in HD, have good commentary and tons of extra content, then steps need to be taken to treat it as a tournament, not every day life in EVE. The last thing you want players to feel is blase or annoyed. It was like watching the Harlem Globetrotters without Sweet Georgia Blues, dribble tricks or confetti. Just one team rolling over people does not make for good television.
To be fair, you guys didn't do anything wrong by the rules. But CCP needs to think long and hard about allowing it again. An event, any event, needs to cap with a big final. This was just boring.

Yes, that is the gist of it. Few would not be praising their wily maneuvers to get to a final faceoff, including taking the risk of throwing early matches, if the teams had actually given us the fight we as an audience, and more so all the participants who fought and lost, expected and deserved.
Instead, they came out and kissed each others' butts and expected everyone to applaud that as triumph.

It was decided ahead of time how the match was going to go. Given that, would you rather a fake scripted battle so it looked good on TV, or would you rather know the truth; that the match was rigged?

you need to practice to avoid collectively not firing anymore and rolling over to a single BS ????????
are you well practised 3months blah best player in the game as captain etc etc or are you pvp noobs that can't remember to fire a gun ... cmon u can't have it both ways nobody really buys this blundering fools in the final routine after you've been at great pains to demonstrate how much effort you've put in to practising.

These are fundamentally inconsistent. If you're "one team", why did it matter to you which part of the "team" won? You could have just swapped prizes later if Hydra wanted the cruisers instead of the frigs.

It sure is easy to call those who wanted a real final, butthurt.
I guess if both teams were disqualified and the owners of the accounts banned from all future tournaments tomorrow they might be a bit butthurt too.
Naw, I am sure they would see the humor in it. Right? Not hacking it in 0.0 since 2006

Whats the difference? Either way zero effort gets put into the fight. My only gripe really is that the final fight was so lack luster. Since HR and OB are the same alliance, should have just let the momentum of the fight continue and finish with OB winning.

Great job undermining the spin control that your glorious leader was going for in this thread. I'm sure they appreciate you pushing the corp agenda. gg, dumbass.

To Outbreak and Hydra:
I was so excited by the matches and the convo in between by CCP. I have a passion for PVP and look for opportunites to watch/play it in all MMOs that I have played. I have been playing Eve for short time. However, I have been playing MMOs for a very long time. So, I can tell when a match is choreographed. If you choreograph something among your corp in a wormhole to see the outcome for planning purposes against an opponent, that is fine. However, a tournament is a competition to see who is the best team at this time, in the environment set for them. You did not show me a competition, but a party among friends sitting around a campfire with a beer in hand telling war stories. When more than 20,000 peeps from around the planet are watching you two teams to see who can outperform the other, it seems appropriate to follow through and show us who can outperform the other. This is the essence of competition for me. But, as I watched your match, I felt like someone kicked me in the gut. I felt let down. This is my first Eve Tournament. T'was very dissapointing to watch a thrown match and it has changed my opinion about Eve Tournaments. And worst of all, it was the final match. I really hope CCP intervenes somehow to adequately address what you have done to more than 20,000 viewers. |

You're missing the point. I don't think anyone is questioning your ability to play well in the tournament. Obviously both your teams earned the right to be there. Congratulations on that remarkable achievement.
The problem is that you blew it hardcore in the final match by not trying. You realize that there were thousands of people watching, expecting a good battle, right? Even if you don't care what they think, which is fine, you shouldn't be surprised at the reaction to your play, or lack thereof. All the "respect" that you earned up that point was flushed down the toilet in front of 20,000+ viewers.

Yeah, Kil2 gave the impression that it would be an actual fight, and instead of an actual fight we got some nonsense.
The tournament is about entertainment. This was definately not entertaining.
