Hey gents,
I've been thinking of running some level 5 missions lately, as level 4's have started to become fairly repetitive/easy, and was hoping to figure some things out before blindly throwing my mission ship into one.
1. Are there high-sec level 5 agents? I see them appearing on EVE-Agents, however rumor has it they don't actually exist in Tranquility.
2. What sort of LP Reward could I expect from a level 5 mission? I've heard rumors of these things breaking 150k LP per mission, but that sounds absolutely insane.
3. How is the loot/salvage compared to level 4 missions? If it's roughly the same, it would make more sense to me to simply skip salvaging, and blitz missions for the (purportedly) huge LP rewards.

Edited by: King Rothgar on 19/06/2011 20:58:16 1) No high sec lvl5's at all. The high sec lvl5 agents listed there have never actually existed in game. Additionally, there was a long standing bug that allowed low sec lvl5 agents to give missions in high sec but this was fixed a few months ago. As such, lvl5's are exclusively low sec (possibly null sec too, I haven't used null sec border agents since the fix).
2) 150k LP is not possible, however 110-120k is. I don't know the absolute max off the top of my head but my current agent in a 0.3 sec system gives 98k LP per mission with maxed social skills.
3) Loot/salvage is about the same as lvl4's I think. Ditto for the bounties. Lvl5's rely very heavily on towers rather than conventional npc ships. And those towers have little or no bounty and of course, no loot other than 100 units of random ammo if that. There are a few missions that are exceptions to that rule such as rogue spy and convoy attack. But the majority use towers to make them nasty, not ships with proper bounties/tags/loot.
Most people blitz the blitzable lvl5's but not all of them can be run that way. It can be a good source of high end tags however, so I typically don't blitz the anti empire missions even if they are blitzable. The rogue drone missions are also pretty nice for low sec industry. Get a wide variety of minerals from them in highly compact form.

Thanks very much for the answers! It's a smidge dissappointing to know that there aren't any highsec lvl 5's out there, but mayhaps when I can afford to lose a Tengu without breaking my keyboard I'll give them a go.

Don't count on doing them solo either. There are about 8-10 Level 5s across all races that are fairly easy to blitz, each race has like... 5-6 each or so.
One is Alluring Emanations, I'm sure you remember it well. Warp in pop one frig, mission complete. Yeah, it's the same at level 5 as it is at level 1, except y'know more stuff spawns.
You just have to be patient.

Rather than creating a new thread, I'll ask my question here:
Can Pirates scan me down and warp to me while I'm running a level 5? I've heard a lot of rumor, but no real discussion on the matter.

Yes it's happened to me a few times.
Keep your scanner active, keep eyes on local and get to know the local people. Learn to recognize which corps are pirates which corps are anti pirates and who spends 90% of their time in system afk in station.
There are setups for some ships like the tengu which make you very hard to scan down. You used to be able to get it to be impossible to scan down with lots of ECCM and other stuff but recent changes have removed that from what I've heard. Can't really help much with setups or how these work (if they work) unfortunately. ------------------- piccy |

All ships can now be probed. Until this week it was possible to make a ship unprobable by making the sensor strength greater than or equal to sig radius, but that's no longer the case. That said you can still make yourself exceedingly difficult to probe with those same setups. As such you only need check your d-scanner for combat probes every minute or two if using such a setup. If using a carrier like I do typically, they'll get a warp in pretty much instantly. That said I haven't lost a pve ship to players in 2-3 years of low/null sec mission running and I have never used one of the formerly unprobable setups for anything but ganglinks.

1. All l5 agents and missions are in low sec.. as it should be :)
2. I average 98k or so per mish with security connections 5
3. As with L4s.. it varies depending on what you're killing. Ones like wrath of angels and sansha on the horizon give the same as a l4 vs them would.. except moar wrecks hehe. Vs factions.. tags replace the bounties obviously and loot is mixed.. usually nothing special.. salvage is the same.
On a side note I got a faction mod from rat loot (rep fleet 1mn ab) once.. and only once.. non one else I've talked to has mentioned the same so I'm guessing it was a wtflulz bug and not something that it supposed to happen. (yes it was a mish rat wreck and not a frig that wandered in)
Towers were mentioned above and this is very true.. about 40% of the missions I get on a regular basis have heavy neuting in them.. soem are towers and some are rats.. obviously a solo active tank isn't going to work here. There are many ways to easily beat with this a single friend or alt though so just read the reports before you jump in.
... and watch for probes.... cause if I come across you not paying attention.. I won't use lube
