not quite as easy as that, especially if bounce through proxy servers, its likke chasing a guy through a crowd which is a trickle compared to another, we can hop but its gonna be very very difficult to achieve in a reasonable amount of time

either your IP address is part of a set that has been blacklisted by at least one of the networks between you and CCP. or one of the networks you connect over has blacklisted anything end destinationing at TQ or one or more of the routers you are trying to connect through got scrambled in the DDoS and has forgotten where ccp is or similar. Tranquilty has been returned to service. To learn more about the denial of service attack, please read the following out of date message from our COO.
=
Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong or CCP cant be arsed to provide one employee charged with updating the information avenues available to them to communicate server status to their paying player base yet despite being "on the ball" investigating this event.

So CCP, since you insist on sending everyone here, is it too much to ask for your thoughts on the issue of those of us that are unable to connect?

buncha idiots
It gets hard when they do it by hijacking the computers of innocent users and the computerilliterate, and turn them into zombie attack machines just waiting for the command from Lulzsec to jump on something. That and multiple proxies make things hard to track.
Someone will get them though.

Define "paranoid". When one decides to shut down its own service as a security response to an external "denial of service" attack.

A. I live in Washington State USA (Westsiiide) and cannot login while others say they can.
2. I would really like an update as to WTF and when things will be online again.
I get that the servers needed to be shut down. This still hasn't stopped me from trying to login every 5 min since people started saying they were online. Just tell us that we cannot play until X time and let us try the whole going outside thing. Maybe even tell us why some people can get on and others cannot. |

I think CCP have more important things to worry about that answering every stupid question being asked on these forums. It's almost 3 a.m. in Iceland right now, I'm sure the night shift and the ones still working from yesterday are doing the best they can until the next shift arrives in a few hours to sort this mess out.
So get the f**k to bed and stop complaining.

Hopefully you (EVE players) took the 6 hour downtime to let the virus checker complete its background scan of your system. No? Didn't do that?
Don't be a Zombie!!! Run Anti-virus and Trojan checking programs (and anything else legit) now and make sure you are not part of the DDOS problem. But- be very careful of where you get these programs - remember the recent Apple lesson.
Don't think it's you? - a friend found *3* Trojans on his comp today - after scanning clean yesterday.
lol
a reasonable suggestion.. i was just having fun with the banter and didn't expect that
complete scan underway...

It'll be back soon. It's NOT the end of EVE. It's NOT a problem with the computer. It's NOT a problem with CCP. It IS a problem with internet policies and a european netowrk distributor. WAIT and it WILL BE FIXED.
