Does anyone else think that the Omen hull would look so much better without that big asymmetrical whatsit jutting out of one side? It's such a pretty boat otherwise. I feel like that section of the hull should be removed entirely.
It will probably never happen. I guess I'll just go back to pretending that the starboard side of my favorite ship doesn't exist.

You must understand these things:
CCP = Iceland, Iceland = ocean and fishy thingies, and this was then the inspiration for many ships (outside of footwear, which was hander than fishy things most likely, see Domi for example).
The artist that created the Omen/Zealot was bemused and on the beach looking at various thingies that had washed up for inspiration... when he happened to come across a 3 flippered sea turtle - and EUREKA!... the rest as we say is history.
You fly a amputee sea turtle with lasers.

I can kind of understand what you mean, I was a little bemused atfirst with the round sticky-outy thing on one side when I first realised it was there (I spent most of my time looking at the Omen from a side view so didn't even know for the first few market views soooo many years back XD) but after a while you kind of get used to it, from the front it kinda looks odd 'cos it seems like you have an eagle with only one wing, but from the back you can just pretend it's a joust and you're gonna impale whatever gets within the way as you warp, but if you can't get used to it, save up your isk and buy a Prophecy, the Omens bigger nastier tankier zappier eagle-faced big brother :D

Fully agreed. The growth makes it a loss less pretty than it could be. Without I'd give it a 8.5/10, with grownth only a 6/10. Yes for an EVE ship it's still pretty, but well if you compare everything to the Moa it will even make your dribbling 80 year old grandmother in law a beauty queen.

Loved the old scorp model. ______ Hello WoW players. Look at your toon, now back to me. Sadly it isn't me, but if it wasn't simplistic pre scripted linear mono dimensional game you could look like me. I'm in a Paladin |

Edited by: Majuan Shuo on 15/06/2011 22:05:39 the only ships that (IMO, i cannot stress "IMO" enough) need reworking are
the dominix (space blob much?)
the moa (autistic goose)
and maybe MAYBE the typhoon (looks like a space turd)

Symmetry is over rated.
With out that little bit sticking out, the ship would just be another boring cylindrical shape, the likes of which is littered across sci-fi. They're considered the most boring ship designs.
That little bit saves it from that, and gives it character. Character is very important in a ship, and it's what seperates it from others.

I'd like the other side of the ship to have that thing jutting out of it, but I wouldn't like it removed.
...Oh and I'm the guy who founded the city between Eastshire and Westshire. Nobody visits it though. |

Navy Omen is possibly the best looking ship in the game imho. And the 'wingy bit' is not as annoying to me as the turret placement on Harbingers

Oh god yes.
This is one bit of asymmetry that really bothers me. As it is now, it's practically begging for an eigth turret. You can tell where the eigth turret would be. There's a place for it already! Some NPC versions DO have an eigth turret.
On the general idea that the Harbinger will get an eigth turret on the same day I can hitch a ride on a flying pig to work, They could at least move that one bottom turret to the centre.

I avoid all Omen hulls because of the 'wingy' bit on the starboard side. ~No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.~

Hands off the shield arm. Now, if you wanted to alter its fat ass, I'd probably agree with you.

It's not a shieldarm, it's an extendable fist so you can clothesline myrmidon's as you whizz past them! (We just haven't found the 'arm extend' button yet)
The Raven's not so bad, I do keep expecting the Moa to nose-dive underwater to try to catch fish though.

Talking of fat - as much as i love proph/abso/damnation hull... it could do with a little bit of slim fast ^^ ATM it has "alot of junk in its trunk" lol - u imagine a damnation with a slightly slimmer hull!!!
EDIT; on the other note - i like zealots shield arm ^^ and i agree with the harbinger gun placement comment ^^ .

Trivia time: From what a dev posted once (who might have been joking) the Proph model originally was longer and sleeker, however an export error back before Eve launched caused it to become the fat pidgeon it is today. Of course, I don't know how true that is considering they've remodelled the ship at least once or twice over the years and could have corrected it, but they might have just kept it for the sake of it. --------------------------------- Go Web!
