Okay.
Its on a console so CCP can sell something in the console market. That's why. Its not going to change. You shouldn't waste your time. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

If that is your logic, and sole argument, it's a flawed one. If you notice the digital download is free, there is no subscription. All the money they make will be via micro-transactions. Why not double (at the very least) your market by opening it up to PC gamers as well? Honestly.
And if you say, "well, it will take players out of eve!" Thanks complete horse**** as well. If anything, they will start double dipping getting more money from individuals, than they were before.

If there isn't a separation between the PC FPS players and the console FPS players, the PC players will end up utterly destroying the console players every single time. This has been tested. You'd create a two-tier system, with the console Dusters and the PC Dusters, with the PC Dusters being at the top and the console Dusters being at the bottom, and the console Dusters would stop playing the game, which is the opposite of what CCP wants. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

Has anyone considered tha if DUST takes off and does well on console, it will eventually be ported to PC? I know of one game that started out on console then went to PC. Just wait and see.

I join but cannot for the following reasons.
1) I'm not stupid 2) I don't care if its PS3 only, If I had a console I might get it but because I don't I wont. I'm not going to cry about it. 3) I'm in mainland China and Facebook is blocked

1. You don't make FPSes that share PC and Console players fighting in the same battle. While it may be technically possible, you could never get away with it. The endless debates would just surface would destroy your chance of selling it to anybody. Mouse/Keyboard vs Controller, cheaters on PCs, etc. etc.
2. This is important for CCP. They can pat themselves hardcore on the back for being visionary world leader in gaming. Tying a FPS console game to a PC based MMO will be something they can open with for the next few years.
3. FPS games go mainly on the consoles now. You can p*ss and moan about this until the end of days, but its not changing in the near future. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Because that doubling is just guesswork on your part ù the market potentials are rather different, and because it would be much more than double the work for that (supposedly) doubled marketà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Nope. And if the console junkies want to compete they can buy the keyboard and mouse for the ps3. Or yes..they will get ****d :P
And for Tippia..pc fps games bring in a lot more than console fps games. Back when I played console games the last thing I was looking for was a fps to play with a controller. It's like aiming under water.
Wow I just looked and there is no keyboard and mouse for the ps3 that supports fps games. How primitive...another reason not to get one

I would love a PC version of Dust 514, but I can't see both happening. Though I would have loved to play it, maybe Sony will get their act together before it comes out and I'll be willing to buy the PS3 then. I cannot support a company that practically refuses to secure their systems, even if it doesn't effect me.
The micro-transaction thing is curious though, if the game is based on that then why not a PC only version instead of console? You'd not only have many current players(both those of us crying over the PS3 thing and those who are not) but also a new player base that don't care about flying around and just want a shooter. The idea that they just want a console user base is kind of meaningless unless there is some real value... are there that many more potential players? ______________ In the beginning God created balls, then man played with them. This became known as Sports. |

They can, if the developer so chooses ù Unreal 3 being the most famous example. Or, to answer that post directlyà
Quote: Wow I just looked and there is no keyboard and mouse for the ps3 that supports fps games. How primitive...another reason not to get one
àyou've got it backwards. Mice and keyboards supporting the games is not the issue ù they all do. It's a matter of the games accepting and caring about the input. In fact, most of them do, but only for standard text input and the like.
Quote: pc fps games bring in a lot more than console fps games. Back when I played console games the last thing I was looking for was a fps to play with a controller. It's like aiming under water.
It has changed since back then. FPSes are becoming the domain of consoles. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Well I just looked online and did in fact find a link that sold a PS3 KB and mouse. Heres the link
From the looks of it, only one game supports a KB and mouse on the PS3...so yeah really sad given our level of technology.
P.S. No disrespect in my origional post...was just suprised it actually exsisted

Again: any USB keyboard and mouse works with the PS3 ù it accepts any and all normal HID-spec devices.

My rolling eyes was at sony for not having it fully working
I didn't look too far into it really. I just googled it and saw plenty of posts trying to rig up something to work. If it really was an option I would have had pages full of sony adverts about it. For the small small price of $299.99

Give it a year. Dust won't be out until then.
If the game looks good, I'll probably look into buying a console - I don't own consoles, not from some kind of "snob" gig, I just don't like having a bunch of devices to run a game so I stick with my PC but this looks intriguing.
"wait and see" IMO.
As to the OP's "push them to PC!!!" - can we NOT rush someone into a *BAD* console port to the PC?
It would seriously suck seeing a PC version of a console game with that "whack-a-mole" interface I've seen on so many of them... uph. If it's brought to the PC I really do hope they rework the UI *FOR* the PC and not just some "outsourced" quick-hack to get it here for sales...
Let them get the console stuff up and running then, perhaps, cleanly rework it to a PC version.

With the KB and mouse thing for PS3.
It's entirely up to the GAME PRODUCER - to ENABLE in their GAME CODE - to allow the keyboard and mouse work as an imput inside the game for aiming, moving etc.
By standard it's setup for chat and web browsing only.
Only 1 GAME PRODUCER has chosen to allow the KB/Mouse imput to work for the actual game.
CCP has a decision to make.
Go into a partnership with Sony to sell a Dust + fancy colored keyboard and mouse which the game supports - so people can play Dust with a keyboard and mouse rather than a ****ty controller.
Or
Ignore their massive playerbase who they CANNOT STOP from wanting to get into Dust PURELY because it links in to eve Directly and effects EVE PLAYER's gameplay, and lets face it - will give us eve players something amusing to do while mining.
Ignore the playerbase ie - not giving the game keyboard and mouse support.
I dont think CCP understands just how much the eve players want to play dust - Cannibilising or not - chances are if most people are running more than one account - they're realy in to the game. If theyr'e realy into the game - its not that unbelieveable they will go buy a PS3 to play Dust.
Will eve players be willing to fart around for months learning to use a gamepad? no.
Will eve players be willing to jump straight into it on a PS3 with a keyboard and mouse? Yes!
