I feel like the effort I go into to test your beta stuff goes unappreciated by the language you use when you respond to my bug reports, CCP. I don't know what bugs you are aware of and which ones you aren't. I submit as much information as I can and I let your programmers sort them out.
So PLEASE stop telling me you are aware of this problem. Instead tell me thank you for submitting the bug report. I'm already doing you a favor but I'm not going to submit ANY bug reports if you just tell me you are aware of everything.
Just lie to me and say thank you.

Congratulations. You've discovered why a lot of people stopped submitting bug reports 6 years ago. Yes, the proforma replies are the same one they were sending out 5/6 years ago.
Iirc were we told the bug system was being overhauled 3 years back (might have been 4) but so far has failed to materialize. ***The EVE servers and their patches***

Well, if they are aware of the issue, what should they say? And in fact, they do thank you in that sentence.

Thank you for your bug reports, every single one of them.
Sorry if we come off curt at times, we only use known issue in an attempt to reassure you we are working on the issue to get it resolved as quickly as possible.
So again, thanks for the bug reports.

I think everyone probably realizes this, but it seems like a rather simple thing to change that actually would make the volunteer tester feel a little more like their contribution mattered.
I agree with the OP that it is a little discouraging to be kinda shined-on by a poorly conceived form letter.
A simple thank you would go a lot further. I wouldn't expect most people expect to be kept in the loop on the exact status of the bug they reported anyhow, so why bother with that in the first place?

Originally by: Tonto Auri Well, if they are aware of the issue, what should they say?
Off the top of my head, and with no professional experience writing form letters:
<name>,
Thank you for your bug report about <title>, #<id>. We believe you have encountered a problem that has previously been reported, so your information has been merged into that bug report so our developers can have all the data available in one place. Different perspectives and multiple examples help in finding the cause of a bug, so we appreciate the time you took to make EVE better!

àwhich isn't all that different from the current template:
Hello [name], Thank you for your bugreport - ID: [number] Title: [stuff] We are already aware of this problem, and have added your bugreport to the existing issue in our defect tracking system. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I've also been somewhat put off by the auto-replies of those bug reports. Kind of like, why did I waste my time.
It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Some people learn that, some don't.

Actually I kind of like that I know whether I'm the first to submit something.
But even if I'm not, adding in more data about system configuration, reproducing the bug, or triggers that cause it is still enough to feel useful.

Oh come on, it's only automatic message nobody wants to offend you. From my past experience with NcSoft support, sweet words can offend you more than simple and straight answer.
