It actually started a few months ago but it would always seem to be fixed temporarily whenever I re-installed or downgraded my drivers. Now since Incarna it's happening every time I play Eve. First I hear a pop noise through my speakers then my screen completely freezes. Graphics are not distorted or anything like that when it happens, the screen just freezes. System does not shutdown. I tried hitting the caps lock key when it happens to see if the Eve client is just freezing but the caps lock light on my keyboard isn't responding. System just stays frozen until I either reset or shutdown my computer. This only happens with Eve. I've played many other graphics intensive games and never have any issues. System: Nvidia 9800 GX2 6GB RAM Windows 7 Pro x64 AMD Phenom 9750 Quad Core ASUS M4N82-DELUXE 980a Chipset
I've tried all sorts of load tests, memory tests, etc. Everything checks out. I am flabergasted. I tried doing a clean install of nvidia drivers, no dice. I have all the latest patches installed for Eve. If CCP does not address this issue promptly I have no choice but to cancel my account. I am paying for an account I can't even use. FIX THIS CCP OR LOSE A PAYING CUSTOMER.
I have similar, but only since incarna, and freeezes are not permanet, they last for one minute more or less, freezing my whole PC (sometimes i can move mouse, sometimes i can still use voice comunicator, sometimes its just dead) and after some time it slowly going back alive Max Kolonko |

working good now.
For HP Pcs with nvidia 8800 Gts theres a small file downloadable from HP that helps sorting the freeze / black screen / sleep issue. inappropriate content in signature removed. ~WeatherMan |

I've had two complete computer freezes in the last few days while sat in station looking at the static screen (i.e. door) and not doing anything. Total lock-up but no indication anything is wrong until I try and move the mouse cursor or type, but I can't.
Between the two lock-ups I have re-installed windows from fresh, fully patched and downloaded a new version of EVE.

So...
I fixed my problem aswell...
Seems like Eve used some new way for the engine that reveals a bug in my BIOS and this leads my system to freeze/crash (as I said it only crashs while playing Eve)
After a smart BIOS Update my Eve is working fine now |

Edited by: Kariel Lateef on 11/07/2011 18:31:57 I had this also and did some research, some of it appears to be a problem with the Intel HD integrated graphics. There is no driver update that fixes this as of yet.
I solved it on my own machine (alienware M11x r3) by switching Eve to my dedicated video card as opposed to the integrated, this also improved CQ performance. (no I had not realized that Eve wasn't running on the dedicated card by default until I looked into this)
Here is the thread talking about the display driver crashes with the alien ware fix instructions.

I just started having problems last night, after rebooting for the first time in over a month an installing June/July Windows updates. My computer locks up and is totally unresponsive. I can usually get as far as logging in and seeing my character pop up in CQ, but that's about it.
I've tried driver updates for my video card, updating my BIOS, running repair.exe, completely reinstalling EVE... nothing.
System: nVidia GTS 250 1GB 6GB RAM Win7 X64 Asus P6X58D-E
Here's the update history from yesterday:

Who knows, you might just be onto something. Very tempting to start rolling back on the June/July updates or just go fresh, again ... Have you tried reverting to a restore point without any of those updates yet? ------------------------------------------ zaisen.rjctd.com ★ simplus.rjctd.com |

Having same problem on HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with i5 core processor, 4gb RAM, and Intel HD Integrated Graphics card, Windows 7 Premium 64-bit. Get display driver crash and recover on most logins and gate jumps. Seems to happen when the "Checking System Navigation" bar message is visible loading. Have been having the probelm since one of the June patches (not sure which). Installed latest drivers from HP, but still getting the problem.

I have started seeing this problem too. Last week or so - no problems at all before that. No problems with any other games or applications - its all about Eve.
At first I was getting a nvlddmkm error message with windows vista and mostly the system would recover. Occasionally it would require hard reboot. Downloaded new Nvidia drivers - actually worse because now the system never recovers - always a hard reboot.
Tried with only 1 client instead of 2 as I usually run. System seems more stable, but not much. Still hard reboot somewhere between 2 and 20 minutes of play.
I am going to try resetting cache and using repair facility - but I dont hold out much hope based on other peoples problems on this thread.
As I never had any problems until very recently with zero changes to my setup this seems to be a CCP problem, and it is getting worse not better. I hope this gets fixed before my next subscription renewal or else I think I am out. Completely unplayable.

I'm having the exact same issues. I've ran diagnostics and checked all my drivers. I've never had this problem before with my new machine. I've taken a few months off and now back with Incarna. I'm using a Windows 7 i5 processor with 4 gigs of ram and and 1 g Nvidia gt 220. I should have no problems

Im having the same issues logged on for the first time in ages last night and the game crashed at least 3 times within the space of two hours.
This is a joke, my current computer (using my laptop) is a higher spec than my old Alienware back in 2004 that ran the game without a single problem.

Originally by: Seliandra Taredi Same thing happens, screen flickers and sometimes blacks out forcing a hard boot.
Drivers and driverX 9.0c up to date.
I lowered all my graphic settings to low and/or disabled
Still had the same problem until I also turned down my graphics card color depth from 32-bit to 16 bit. Flicker gone for now =D
Thank you for posting this. Ever since Incarna when I load the client it would cause my monitor to crazy flicker to the point that I was worried about what this was doing to my monitor and my eyes. Anyway after reading your post and dropping my desktop to 16bit this has now stopped thanks again. Why I should have to do this to run EvE when no other game requires me to do this is beyond me maybe CCP knows?

This is what is happening to me. ^^
I wonder if this will also solve my other issue where the eve client will just freeze up for 20 secs at what seems to be random intervals (although I am not sure if it does not happen more after using gates and undocking) before springing back into life. Time will tell but after reading this thread I don't hold out much hope.

Try disabling Eve Voice and Eve Audio. Since I've disabled them, I've not crashed... yet! Previously my whole screen would freeze. M17x R1 2.53Ghz Extreme Quad Core, 2x280m.

Eve claims its not here end and said upgrade your drivers. AFter drivers updated, still occured. Today, the day after installing all the updated drivers, im getting this problem to.
