Having the exact same issue. I checked the repair log, and the repair tool not working seems to come from CCP not having defined what the tool is looking for.

The problem myself and some others have had is that it wont let us manually patch it, because the game thinks that it is fully patched, therefore up to date etc

Someone, please put a bullet in repair.exe. I honestly cannot remember the last time it actually worked. The .7z file is ALWAYS corrupt -no matter how many dozen times it is downloaded. |

Edited by: Ribaldry on 08/06/2011 02:22:43 I'm also having this problem. This is not a hardware or OS config issue... CCP is just missing http://eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt on their webserver but apparently that takes an act of congress to get the checksums generated and put in the file.
I should add that I've tried the auto patch and the manual patch multiple times to no avail. I'm now downloading the full 3.9GB install.

I had this problem.
Try running the game from inside the folder its in rather than the shortcut on your desktop/start menu
The last patch gets confused and breaks the shortcut. (did with me anyway)
Make sure that the "Start in" Parameter of your shortcut points to the correct location of your TQ client, the patch had changed mine to my Sisi Client but the target was the TQ Clients exe file.
Doing this fixed the game for me.
and if you are reading this you have reached the signature without noticing. |

I've had this problem, before running fresh installs from steam, game corrupts itself and the repair tool fails. the only way I could fix it is a complete re-install. the repair tool is like rolling the dice it might work but not all the time.

Some of these problems might be fixed by downloading the newer version of the repair.exe tool from:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/client_repair/324/repair.exe
CCP advised me to give this a go and it fixed it for me.
You will need to replace the existing repair.exe tool in you eve directory which is probably located in one of the following places:
C:\Program Files\Eve C:\Program Files(86)\Eve
Hope this helps.

same problem here downloading the full client (again) auto-updater never worked btw (how the hell am i supposed to allow its communications in 0.1 miliseconds when it is a temporary exe) and can not you check if there is enough free room on the destiantion partition BEFORE starting anything and can not you ask where i do have space if you can not find it and can not you make a less volatile client, everytime i want to log in i have to manually patch first we are not beta testers, we are your customers!

Did you check your free disk space on C:? Even with the game being installed somewhere else the update/repair process will need some space there (3-5 GB should be a save buffer for most patches).

okay so i have to keep 3-5gb for ******ed patches that do not work. then i have to keep 3-5gb more for cache files and w/e crap they put into my users fiolder. and the game itself which takes 7.6gb atm (and doesnt even work) so thats 18gb for eve??? really??? **** this ****! Edited by: WheatGrass on 22/06/2011 16:02:05 Disk space is an issue for me. So, here's what's cooking now...
Download the full install package files from... http://www.eveonline.com/download/?fallback=1&
Burn those files to DVD. They include the following: EVE_Premium_Setup_271273.exe (3,725 KB) eveonline_271273_1of2.7z (2,327,264 KB) eveonline_271273_2of2.7z (2,191,098 KB)
Delete originals from HDD. Delete contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE Delete contents of C:\Documents and Settings\%HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Temp (i.e. all of the failed repair attempts)
Launch .exe file from DVD. Complete installation.
Launch Eve Online Apply the update to the update.
Mine Veldspar.
It works.

Originally by: WheatGrass It works.
I've tried downloading the manual install and I can safely say that it does NOT work. I've completely uninstalled Eve and run CCleaner, so I'm positive there's nothing left of it. The installer still says the files are corrupt and the repair.exe fails every time. I've tried using the repair.exe posted earlier. I've even tried downloading the files twice. I'm honestly out of ideas. I guess I'll just have to wait til CCP releases an installer that works, which is infuriating when I pay for gametime.

I've created a group of metalinks which will provide you with checksumming during download (when used in conjunction with a metalink compatible download application (list available here)) in case you're unable to download via standard methods.

Just let me clarify this: "Repair started up went through all the stages", meaning the repair tool finished and you could start the game and at the log in screen you got asked to install a client update?
"downloading the patch then FAILS" downloading the auto-patch or client update? __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

First I want to assure everybody that we are working on this with all available resources but unfortunately we are not able to reproduce this issue in-house meaning we have to rely on your information to figure out what is causing these issues.
It would be great if somebody who is experiencing the repair tool issue could delete all content under %ProgramData%\CCP\EVE and give it another shot which would allow us to verify if the issue is related to the repair tool caching mechanism. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Completly over this. Cannot get anything to work everything is completly corrupted. Can't install from both types of online and offline dowmload, repair exe is broken and so is the customer support. Worst gaming experience ever. Expect to see a fix in 2 weeks probably. I am not renewing my sub to a game I cant even download or use. Blue screen followed by memory dump then eve exe crash and now a total corrupted eve client. Any ideas Spudnik or whatever youre name is??

If you are up for it there is a view things you could try, first thing to figure out is if the verification process is correct.
Install 7zip in case you haven't already and extract the two .7z files into the same folder, if this works you should end up with an EVE installation - might need some repair tool love :( but that uses another dataset (packages are a lot smaller == less risk for corruption) then the installer repair process.
On the other hand when you try to extract the 7z files and you get an error the problem gets a lot more complicated.
I will be around for a while and monitor this thread, just let me know how its going - hopefully we come up with a good workaround. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Edited by: Kim Trader on 28/06/2011 09:30:50 CCP we need a new repair.exe that will not fail to unpack the files on the last stage (see above). OR a more reliable source to download the game.
I can understand that some peoples internet connection could be the cause of this corrupt files problem but the repair.exe should sort this all out by replacing missed and broken files, but it isnt doing the job :(

Thank you, CCP, for noticing this.
As for the patch from 271273->273475, there was a checksum mismatch. I did not opt for the installer downloading the patch again as that never seems to change the outcome.
Opera v11.11, Win XP Pro x64, and 7-Zip v9.20 are what I'm using.
Downloading the patch 'manually' worked fine.

Repair tool isn't fixing the client.
And yet again I have the same problem.

Deleting the 'common.ini' file from the EVE program file and then running the repair program worked for me.
Program Files(x86)-> CCP-> EVE-> Common.ini

+1 Same problem
Im also having the same problem. I've un-installed EVE, deleted the directories, deleted %userprfile%\appdata\local\temp, %userprofile%\local\appdater\CCP and %programData\CCP.
Tried installing with both installers, one that download files on the fly and the other using the payload files. Verifies files, then repair tool starts and then failed with the follow:
File "repairTool\progressPanel.pyc", line 97, in _TaskRun File "repairTool\repairUI.pyc", line 77, in Start File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 147, in Repair File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 187, in Restore File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 151, in RestoreFile ValueError: too many values to unpack Total Runtime: 0h01m36s

Both the EVE Online Update Setup and repair.exe programs failed... again.
The "EVE Online Update 273475->288329 Setup" generated the following error: "The data package....is broken. Do you wish to have the repair tool attempt to fix it?"
I chose "Yes" and watched the repair tool fail.
The next dialog box indicated, "Applying the patch has failed, do you wish to launch the repair tool and have it attempt to fix the broken client?" (Correctly phrased, the dialog box would have indicated, "Applying the patch has failed. Do you wish to launch the repair tool to fix the broken client?") Grammar aside, I chose "No" because of a prior failure with the patch.
Next up was a dialog indicating the usual checksum mis-match message with a link to "download manually". The checksum information was as follows: "Checksum was be7e5ac183f6e3df64ebd6d1d1bc9121 expected 1696bc9075b057e59e016fc772e5008c".
As usual, the manual download worked fine. Disk space was not an issue this time around.

So when you've encountered this problem just downloading the manual patch fixes it or... ...? PS: Ran into this wall myself just now. PSS: Even after 30 minutes of repair tool I get this same error message. It would also be nice if I could "copy" the text and not have to print screen but meh... ... Error Report.

Figured out my own little problem here but I'll detail it for knowledge base purposes: I run multiple separate clients. (i.e. one fully installed client per instance) I setup individual icons/shortcuts for each individual client as well. You'll note in my linked pic that the directory is Eve3. My fail is that each shortcut directs to the application correctly however it does not start the operation in the appropriate folder. So in the above picture my shortcut started Eve.exe in folder Eve3 but was looking for resources files in the folder simply labeled Eve. Thus, in my case, the problem was that not all of my clients were updated... yet. The lesson ends here but my learning still, apparently, continues.
