Quite a lot of people seem to be suffering crashes to desktop since the new patch, especially when running multiple clients. For me it turned out to be the DEP (data execution prevention) settings.
Set DEP to on then add eve as an exception - If DEP is set to windows services only then for me anyway eve crashes every 5 mins or so.
For windows vista DEP can be found here: control panel system and maintenance system advanced system settings advanced tab settings button in the performance box data execution prevention tab
Thought I'd put that out there in case someone else is in the same situation :)

Set Eve ExeFile.exe in the Exclusion list for DEP instead and keep it enabled for Programs and Services is better.
What is the crash? You could always generate a dump file (minus heap :) ) by attaching Visual Studio and watching it crash but that would probably be bad too as that would look like you are hacking the client.
Does Eve generate dump files and send them to CCP?

Yes, it does. More information on bug reporting can be found here, and detailed instructions on how to report crashes are available here.
We would greatly appreciate if those experiencing crashes could send us this data so we can identify and fix this issue.
Thanks in advance!

Sent a bug report this morning, id no 111546.
Have to say the bug reporting system seemed a little overloaded today for some reason

True but I have VS 2010 here, also Eclipse but while nice it is useless due to its constant crashing - pitty though for Eclipse (yes even more crashes than vs lol)

My fix was:
- Start in safe mode. - Allow Client to update (if prompted) - Allow restart (will simply prompt for update again) - Don't update - just login - Exit and reboot
No idea why, but it's fixed.

For Windows 7:
To add a program to the DEP Exception List 1.) Open "Control Panel" 2.) Click on "System and Maintenance" 3.) Click on "System" 4.) On the left side click on "Advanced System Settings" you will be asked for permission to continue, click continue 5.) Click on the Advanced tab and then on "Settings" in the Performance area 6.) Click on the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) tab 7.) Put a tick in the little circle next to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" and click on the "ADD" button and browse for and click on the EVE.exe file then click "Open" now click "Apply" then "OK" and close all open windows and your done.

I am having a crash over and over also, but adding "/minidump" to the shortcut target line will not work, as it says in the bug reporting instructions. It says the name is not valid and to make sure that path and file name are correct.
Any suggestions? I am running Windows 7 64 bit OS. For reference, Eve crashes to the desktop so it is just an application crash.

Windows 7 64 bit OS here as well, used to run three clients at the same time before the patch, now can only get two of them running and after around 5 minutes the second one crashes.
Thank you yet again CCP for a most excellent patch that was not rushed out the door and was extensively tested before being implemented to the live server! Pfft right, can`t even say that with a straight face.
By the way... when are you gonna run another "Power of two" campaign? I want another account to pay for and have it idle until you fix things.
Thanks in advance!

Can someone please help me find the .dmp file so I can file a new bug report. I right clicked eve in task manager as soon as it crashed, as per instructions linked by CCP Spitfire. the file was then written to the following address:
C:\Users\PUBLIC~1.PUB\AppData\Local\Temp\ExeFile (2).DMP
Problem is that when I look for the file it isn't there, doing a search for *.dmp or exefile turned up nothing. Folder options are set so I can view hidden files and folders and the hide system files box is unchecked.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah it seemed to work yesterday but apparently it was because my window was maximized >..<

I'm having the same issue but noticed it only happens when jumping thru gates. If I stay in a system all is fine.
