I'm getting more than a little annoyed with the amount of farming in FW right now. I'm talking about both missions and plexes. CCP has put forward a solid proposal for solving the plex farming issues, but that still leaves missions. Lately I've been seeing an endless stream of cov ops cloaking stabbed tengus running around. Even have a guy running stabbed cloaky oracles around. Seriously, WTF? These are for all intents and purposes, impossible to intercept due to their high speed and agility combined with difficulty of pointing.
A second common trick is popping the missions with one character and then actually running them with a neutral alt or even one that's in the opposing militia. This is frequently done with the above super-bear setups.
A corp mate of mine came up with a rather interesting solution to this problem however:
Forbid cloaking in enemy low sec, just like in high sec.
They can still cover themselves in WCS's and fly high agility ships that can pass by most attackers unmolested, but not all. It introduces a small degree of risk with running FW missions. FW has always supposed to be about pvp, not farming isk faster. This change will have no impact on those running FW missions in ships actually fit for a fight. It only impacts the no pvp farmers currently flooding FW.
Alternative proposal: Delete FW missions entirely, replacing them with nothing. They serve no purpose in the context of FW except to farm isk. The proposed plex changes still allow for moderate isk generation in a pvp environment. The missions are simply redundant.
I honestly don't care which route is taken. If you can think of a better solution to the endless mission farming I'd love to hear it. If you are in FW and don't have a single kill, GTFO of my thread, your opinion is irrelevant. The Troll is trolling. |

How dare you try to make FW PvP, so many alts will quit FW. i like the idea of no more FW missions, as you stated the promote farming, but also there needs to be something to keep people active in FW, maybe super nerf the LP from mission and boost the LP from PvP kills |

Instead of removing a metric ton of options from the combatants arsenals (everything cloaky) to end mission farming;
1. CCP in all their wisdom, decided that what happens in FW plexes is to be treated differently than what happens in FW mission plexes and declared the use of non-aligned alts for most things in the former an exploit while one can abuse alt'ing to hell and back in the latter. Treat them the same .. non-aligned deliberately used to tank and/or Dps rats in any FW related plex is an exploit.
2. Poison pills in all missions. Currently only available in one or two per side (the "fetch" ones) .. make them pay with their standings (failing missions is awesome for ones standings!) if they wont pay with their lives (fight for your right to party mission).
3. Fast track new NPC's and associated AI in missions.
Etc.

Actually that's a better idea tbh, though more complicated and we all know how good CCP is at screwing up more complicated ideas. That said I am withdrawing my original idea, not because of anything anyone here has said but because it is too easily worked around. Since using neutrals or even wt's to run the missions for the character pulling them is "not an exploit" and neutrals would still be allowed to cloak, it would only further encourage the non-exploit exploit use of alts.
A poison pill in all missions would put a halt to the endless mission farming even without standing hits. As long as it didn't actually close the mission and only made it impossible to complete, they wouldn't be able to reject it without taking a standing hit. They would have to wait out the 12 hour or so timer for it to expire on its own. There aren't that many FW lvl4 agents so you could seriously cut into a farmer's income this way. You couldn't stop them completely of course, but you could seriously slow them down. And that's all I ask for, is a way to counter them in some meaningful way. The Troll is trolling. |

Yeah, the poison pill concept is probably one of the best anti-mission-farming ideas that have been cooked up to date.
Doesn't matter if they have to wait it out or are forced to decline as I think it counts as a failure in terms of standings regardless, once they lose enough they are booted from militia (most are in NPC militia corp). Since one must assume missions are to remain viable for 'legitimate' FW personnel I'd rather the solution to be able to be scrap it immediately was used. |
