I've been playing eve for 3ish year now, love the game a lot, but I've found lately I only log on to change skills. I'll probably never quit EVE, simply because I've invested too much time in it. So what do you do when you find your just logging in to change skills? I don't really like null pvp, sides I'm broke generally. Already accepted the fact that I'm a total fail newb at EVE, so your rage will be simply ****ing in the wind. :D
tl;dr you don't deserve to play EVE if you cant read a basic forum post. =]

Best thing you can do right now is to close subscription for a while.
Do your life, and then when you miss eve, you'll know what exactly you are missing, and you come back.
EVE is huge, even with all the problems, it's the best MMO out there. When you come back, consider passive income of ISK so that you don't need to pay.
And don't listen to the bitterness of others. If EVE was really bad, people wouldn't be complaining about the game flaws, they would have left for good a long time ago.

"They" like this guy are stuck because they consider the time they've invested to have some value.

@maximus
So you really don't have fun anymore in EVE? Not at all? No adrenaline? No thrills? Not involved in any e-history being written? Politics? No leadership? Empire building? Massive people conections/contacts? Some that could fit in RL?
I bet you have at least one of those, and find it fun.. You probably complain because EVE has room for so much more awesomeness that it hurts. (I feel that)
But if you have none of those, then its time to quit and stop wasting your time. Just don't blame the game, only because it has not met its potential or because the game has problems. EVERYGAME has problems. EVE changes for bad sometimes, but it also changes for good.
Mandatory: If you leave, contract stuff to me.

Speak for yourself, you pathetically bitter troll. Just because YOU don't have fun here doesnt mean NO ONE can. You have claimed previously to just be here till your sub runs out, stop acting like a mosquito, grow up a little and go find a game you DO want to play. .

I think it's a common phenomenon that is experienced by players of all current day MMOs. One day you look at the virtual carrot that is always dangling in front of your nose and you just don't care. Your character is immortal, you can replace anything you loose easily and the rare stuff is a waste anyways, ingame missions are a repetitive grind, the game world is static, the storyline is meaningless fluff, the game developers wont take risks because it might effect their business bottom line, so on and so forth.
Which is why I am enjoying certain single player, highly creative, story driven video games a lot more these days.

Hop in jump clone, buy cheap ship (your concept of cheap will vary), hit F10 and find a point on the map. Right-click and 'set destination' and head that way. Say hi in local until people respond, make friends, or make enemies. Get in to shooting match, or run away from fight and ask gate campers how their day is going. Wonder if anybody will read this wall of text. See if when all is said and done you made it to your destination and if anybody talked to you. Hell, if it works you might make a new friend. If it fails, well the ship was cheap, you killed and hour or two, and you know to fly somewhere else next time to try again.

Been playing a lot of Dwarf Fortress heh.
Problem is the game I want to play is EveOnline.
But... CCP is intent on ****ing that game up.
edit: Actually no, my issue with CCP isn't so much that they're ****ing the game up. More that they have said publicly that they have no intention of doing any serious work on it for 2 years.
When you neglect something which requires constant maintenance for a period like that it will invariably suffer unrecoverable amounts of decay.
As we are observing, as CCP is attempting to combat with "future" trailer bull**** and lip-service.
Nothing has changed. EveOnline is still on hold. Just they've put up a bit of smoke and mirrors to make people think there is actual activity on the project.

My advice to you is to take a break, but keep your account active.
My interest in eve pulses in and out on about a monthly basis, but there are two good reasons why I keep my sub active even when I am not actively playing:
1. I nevar stop poasting. The eve-o forums are my primary forum, I like to have access to them 2. When you come back, it always feels bad to waste so much training time. Keep the skills flowing.

You've got to understand that in his extremely warped mind he is doing a public service by spamming general with his bittervet attitude. He'll either dissapear when his sub is up, or he'll continue living off PLEX and thus continue feeding into the market machine that he so loathes.
@OP, When i'm on break from EVE I generally involve myself in market speculation or some other long-term investment that required very little input. It's also a nice time to put on those month-long skills you've put off training because they are soul-crushing to look at day in and day out.

Have you tried PI? It's a good in-game chewing gum sort of thing. Doesn't take too long to train up, and it beats spinning ships. Brings in few isk, and once set up you only need to leave your station every few days to empty the launchpads and pick-up the goods from customs offices.
Pick your planets and sites carefully, and you can switch between several products to extract as you exhaust supplies. It's worth processing the basic stuff.
Get five or six planets set up a few jumps from a trade hub (costs about 50 mill to set up properly) and it keeps you occupied and bringing in a bit of isk, until you get the urge back. And yes, it does come back.
Recommended.

TBH, it depends on my reasons for not logging in. If it's because I'm just burnt out on EVE, then I simply play other games or do RL stuff. If it's because I'm bored with what I'm doing in EVE, I go do something else or join a different corp for a different kind of experience.
Lately, I've found that wormhole PvP has been faaar more enjoyable than lowsec or nullsec stuff, simply due to the fact that it's still possible to get good solo and small gang fights. Money-making, however, in a wormhole is hit or miss, since C3 and higher sites are difficult or impossible to solo, and your corpmates aren't on 24/7. This can result in long periods of intense boredom interspersed with frenetic activity, flashing lasers, and brilliant explosions. -Wrayeth --> Insert Useless Signature Here <-- |

when i got more money that i can spend reasonably and became lazy i went from 0.0 home to empyre, took daredevil with cheap fit and visited lvl1 agent for corp i wanted to have good standings long time ago:D
It is something new and fun to run those lvl1 missions in daredevil with my current skills.... 2 guns, 10 pieces of ammo for 1 mission
When will i get bored i can return to 0.0 or take cheap interceptor and go run Epic Gurista mission chain. Pretty sure i will be killed before i even meet agent... but why the hell?

Due to Real World issues I am not able to do what I wanted to do in Eve and it doesn't look like that I shall for a good while to come.
So, I have decided to put a halt on my PvP stuff with Red vs. Blue and any thoughts on trading. And after much consideration I have decided to give Mining a go.
Perhaps you ought to change your Eve role to suit how you feel. I've done that and now I am logging on more even if it's to run a rookie mining tub in the background.

You basically have 2 options:
a) Do something new, join faction warfare, start running incursions, take up T3 production, make drug boosters, whatever.
b) Quit for a while and see if it starts itching again.

This game isn't designed to be played steadily for 3 years. You might think that having 2 'expansions' a year would mean otherwise, but seriously CCP hasn't put any meat on the table since apocrypha.
Play other games, and remember than not all digital experiences feel like passing kidney stones after a while.
Personally I fire up oblivion and a bunch of mods or play a random FPS. If I am really bored I fire up my PSX emulator and play through front mission 3 for the millionth time. There are also some pretty cool open source space games out there (vega strike) and the X3 games are fun, if you can get past the bugs.
Go exercise and get out of the house and away from technology for a bit. A little sun and fun is always a good thing.

Alternatively I spent around 200 hours when I first played Oblivion and any time I try to play it (I've tried many times unsuccessfully) I exit out as soon as I hear that same voice actor
"SPEAK TO SELLUS GRAVIUS IN THE MAGE DISTRICT." "STOP, YOU'VE VIOLATED THE LAW. PAY THE COURT A FINE OR SERVE YOUR SENTENCE." "YOU... I'VE SEEN YOU BEFORE... YOU WERE THE ONE IN MY DREAM..." "THAT'S RIGHT, YOU'RE GOING TO DIE IN HERE BRETON."
