That's what doesn't make any sense. You are complaining about not having anything to train for and asking for new ships when there's big training sinks and other ships that you are refusing to train for.
I already fly all the races and own 3 titan books, 2 of wich are already maxed out, and so are 2 carrier races completely maxed out as well, with a total of about 56 million skill points on ship command alone...
That's awesome. Why don't you try flying them? :|

Fix blackops, EAFs, dreads, marauders, hybrids, FW, tier 1 BCs, information warfare links, AFs and all the other crap that needs fixing, THEN introduce some new crap.
What's wrong with assault frigs?

And people who never read the entire thread and i've mentioned why.....
Super capitals can't dock, meaning they're floating coffins where this char is wasting a huge amount of SP that took years to train up until the ship is eventually blown up(all ships die afterall), and no i won't buy a second account as i don't believe game content should heavily encourage it's use when it comes to flying a super capital.

Now we're back to what I said before about why you don't just train them on another character on the same account.

What would a new ship do that a current ship can't do? What new role or niche would it fill? If you just want a tricked out solopwnmobile ship that does exactly what a current ship does, only ten times better, and only you get to fly it because you are such an ELITE VETERAN PVP PILOT WITH SOOOOO MANY SKILLS (which is what it sounds like) then I hope you get podded down to a more manageable sized ego.

Spot on. Any new ships introduced must have a purpose and useful niche. Not to mention many smaller and couple large balancing issues with current ships. Sov system might see another revision as well...

And another who doesn't bother to read the entire thread and makes quick judgements....I gave an example earlier of a missing class of capital ship, and that scenario for atmospheric combat using custom fighters above a planet's surface earlier....Did you read it, of course not.

Just tell me why did you train up all those skills, when you don't use the bloody ships ?If you maxed out everything you wanted on your char, then you could cally yourself a happy man and stop training skills. Keeps the cost of your clone down.

Not quite accurate actually....I want to use those ships but won't do it until they're allowed to dock, and just so we're cristal clear on the issue, it isn't because i'm worried they'll eventually get blown up, since all ships get destroyed eventually, even the big boys...I just won't throw years of training down the toilet because CCP wants me to get additional accounts specifically trained to fly super capitals, and i'm not the only only one with that view.
CCP has been so concentrated on the new player experience and getting more subscriptions for the last few years, that for those who practically started playing the game when it was first launched in 2003 and have continued playing till this day, we've basically been forgotten and are running out of stuff to train up that we're actually interested in training in the first place, and not much is left in terms of objectives...
If i hadn't trained those extra races(including the super capitals), i would have hit that skill training wall a lot earlier, but these are the only crazy objectives left for us old farts, even if they make no sense at all since we can only fly one ship at a time...

Cant talk for digitalwanderer but i feel that i was actually forced to train up all the ships and weapons over the years and i DO use all those ships from time to time (No Caps trained here though).
Never planned to fly anything but gallente when i started but to stay at least a bit competativ i had to go with the flow from dual-mwd torp ravens or rail apocs (yeah right rails on an apoc!) to the still used tempests or recons and logistics. As i already said this was never planned but was rather forced on me by the game changes. (some of the changes were rather extrem so dont judge if you werent there)
May you live in interresting times. |

Originally by: digitalwanderer Well,as the title of the thread is pretty self explanatory, when are we going to see new ships and by that i mean new ships that require new skills to train up?, as one of the downsides of being one of the oldest chars still playing the game and specialising in ship related skills above all else, is that the amount of skills left to train that i'm actually interested is dwindling down pretty quickly.
I am doing all the races, and i'm not particularly interested in science, trade, research, corporation or manufacturing skills in the least so with that in mind, what's the ETA for more T2 ships(T2 dreads,T2 carriers,etc..), T2 capital weapons and even T3 ships for all races?(Battleship size and under)...
It's time for you to stop your skillqueue and time for CCP to fix the lower tier frigates, cruisers and battlecruisers.

I keep hearing that over and over and i'd agree that the drake is a bit too overpowered for what it is, but other than that, what other ships need fixing exactly?...The reason i say this is that if you think they need major fixes, then you haven't seen how screwed up the game was in the first year of it's existance, wich looking back was released too early and full of exploits to take advantage of...
Stop my skillqueue because CCP didn't bother releasing content for veteran players in years now?....That's not my fault, that's theirs....

I have two quick things to add.
The first is that there are ship classes out there that are so bad they should be pulled from the game. Yes electronic attack ships, I'm looking at you. If you cut through the fluff that clutters small ships combat and remove it you make room for T3 frigates. My definition of fluff is assault frigates, electronic attack ships, and destroyers.
The second thing I'd like to add is that I've always felt there is a HUGE skill gap between battleships and capitals. I wouldn't mind seeing Heavy BS using large weapons that can move around only via jumps - not gate viable. Or light carriers that CAN use gates. Something to bridge the skill gap. Supercarriers would have to get fixed first though.
