Originally by: Joe Skellington I remember a game called Ragnarok Online, I played the iRO version. The game started a decline and they introduced something called a "Kafra Mall" where you could buy in-game items with real money. The game saw an even bigger decline and I believe it's free to play now.
I wonder is CCP paying TAX on these items we are buying with isk and plex?

So because of CSM 1-3 especially. with the 4-5% voter turn out and lack of anything happening. you're fighting an uphill battle. But I say, you can do it!
Just an FYI- Voter turnout for each CSM (as a percent of all eligible accounts):
CSM1 - 11.1% CSM2 - 8.6% CSM3 - 9.7% CSM4 - 7.4% CSM5 - 12.7% CSM6 - 14.2%

Personally my only interest in microtransactions in EVE is my hope that they are implemented in an EVE-style way -- which is to say that, cosmetic or not, I want purchased items to have an item manifestation in EVE that can be transacted on the ISK market (like Plex), transported in spaceship hulls (like Plex), and lost (like Plex). That provides real gameplay opportunities for everybody, not just the people who want their fedoras and monacles.
And if (for example) it someday becomes possible to purchase spaceship customizations, these need to be visible in space and lost when the ship is lost. One thing I hate about WoT is that the guy in the gold tank pays once and has that tank forever; he may have inferior skill but you can't demonstrate that to him in any meaningful way -- you can't beat him and destroy his shiny. EVE has spoiled me in that respect. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

You mean I'd lose my expensive clothes when I get podded? I thought we were just wearing underwear in our pods (see vid) and can leave our microtransaction shop stuff safely in stations .. ?

CSM1 - 7.5% CSM2 - 6.2% CSM3 - 7.3% CSM4 - 4.7% CSM5 - 8.4% CSM6 - 10.0%
ah guess I was mistaking it for CSM4

never played a game that was improved by microtransactions. never stuck with a game for more than a couple of weeks after microtransactions were introduced.
The general direction of pc games these days is in the direction of dlc, microtransactions, crappy gimmicks, drm and cheese. Games are now designed in meetings between the marketing department and the security division. Which is why modern games suck ass.
I'm a little disappointed, but not really supprised that ccp has decided to join the crappy game bandwagon. I guess it will save me some cash, though.

You know what? There have and will be devs that are in any number of different corps and alliances in the game, including the most well known...what they do on their own time is their own business, who the **** cares what they do on their own time? It's actually unfortunate that he's known enough irl to be associated with his (or ex) in game character. Most of the time no one knows who the characters of the developers are. It's true for every single MMO on the market...not a single developer would "ruin their game intentionally for lulz" just because they happen to be in what people would consider a "griefer" player run organization in game. That is just ******ed...their paychecks come from the success of the game, lulz is not enough motivation to cut off their own personal income. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |
