I have mostly lvl 5 Mission running skills and there's a lot of SP tied up in there. Since I'm now fulltime WH whoring, it's like free SP!
I'm fkin stoked. GO GO 3x Racial Cruiser 5!!
I haven't done the maths but I suspect there might be another BS 5 in there too.

TBH your best bet is just not to spend it. SP is easy to acquire, but large chunks of it that can be put into anything at any time are not. It's nice to have that buffer on you the next time you realize that you need a skill at lvl 4 to use some mod, or that you need a quick lvl 5 skill to move the other half of the ships out of an unsuspecting WH corps' hangars |

My understanding is that only the XYZ connections skills are getting refunded. So like Social, Negotiation, Connections, Diplomacy won't be getting refunded.

Indeed.
I have been training the advanced connection skills ever since I noticed their dissapearence on Sisi. I also still got all the skill points from the Learning skill unallocated.
Maybe I will instant train titan skill to level 5, or more likely, wait until a new and really awesome skill is introduced and instant train that.
Maybe CCP should allow you to train directly to the unallocated pool... just a thought.

No, you will not...
The 7 skills removed are all rank 1, so you'll only be able to train a Titan skill 7/16th of the way as the Titan skills are rank 16.

I am fairly happy about it, but I would like my damn remap back :p Spent one just to get all social skills up to V, and a couple of leadership skills, but wouldn't have if I'd known about this change.
Anyways, it's 310.919 skill points per old connection skill at V. The new connection skills are rank 2, so 621.838, and my guess is mission runners will want at least the security connections skill.
So, 7*310.919-621.838 = 1.554.595 left over if they were all trained to V (like I did). 1,5M SP is nice chunk to save for a rainy day.
The OP will obviously have the full 2.176.433 left over. :)

Well you could keep them at level 4. That way you get 80% of your SP back, but you'll maintain 93% of your mission reward (and you can always retrain them to 5 if you start seriously missioning again)

Well then the logical course of action is obvious. SP employed in skills you will definitely use now are far more useful than SP in skills you definitely won't use now, and probably wont use for the indefinate future.
Surely I dont really have to explain this to the finest min-maxer in ships and modules?

With this kind of a hoarding problem, I'd hate to see your hanger. Dude, your SP does you 0 good if you never use it.

More likely people will spend the Skillpoints to fly Hulks and, T3 cruisers.
Happened with Learning skills, now there's a huge lack of miners what with all the systematic bot-banning that began at FanFest earlier this year.
Keep flyin' !

My carebear has pretty much maxed connection skills. I'll be putting the sp elsewhere since I'm remapped for charisma anyway atm.

Anyone else confused by this math? Rank 1 skill takes 256000 sp to level V Rank 2 skill takes 512000 sp to level V
so 7 x 256k = 1792k 3 x 512k = 1536k leaving you 256k The extra connection skill.
So the most you can get back us 1.8 mill and if will cost you 1.5mill if you want those skills back to V.

Hah whoops you're right. I was adding the numbers up instead of actually checking it.
It's of course the 256k.

If you want all the connections skills you are correct.
But if all you want to do is run "Combat" missions you only need the one security skill. The others only affect courier and mining missions. I will instantly train to level V in security, but keep the 5x rank 1 level V SP in the bank for emergencies.
Just like I used my learning skill refund to quickly train up some stuff to better do incursions when they first came out. The other connections skills will go onto my todo list, but at the bottom.

How many people do you really think had all seven of these up to lvl 5 since that would've been a pretty huge chunk of wasted training time for the vast majority? I have all 7 at lvl 4 so that's a whole 316,785 sp I'll be getting, whoopty-do. Not even enough to get one of the new skills up to lvl 5. I'd imagine that most people are in the same boat.
The real question is how dirt cheap do you think the new skills will be, since it looks like lots of people will get extra free ones since if you had all 7 you'll get 2 mining books, 2 courier, and 3 security.

Depends how many times you switched agents, or if you did a "I'm training EVERYTHING I WILL EVER NEED" charisma bender.

Won't make much of a difference to me, pretty sure others are in the same situation. I have the two military ones at lvl5 and the others at lvl3-4 I think. So I'll get back maybe 200k SP not counting that I'll use to retrain the military one to 5. It's useful I suppose but nothing to go nuts over. My plan is pretty much to buy the new skillbook, insta-train it to 5 and then throw the rest of the SP into whatever I was training before the change. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

You get the new books free by magic in your hangar to replace what you had, see the dev blog.

Rofl. You do realize that this gains you nothing, right? You could have simply been skilling up useful stuff, and never have to relocate anything?
You are not doing anything beneficial for yourself at all. Time = Skillpoints, and you are planning to simply leave skillpoints unallocated, which is like having $100,000 "Just in Case", when you could instead invest it and actually benefit from that money. -------------------- Not in cruelty, Not in wrath, The Reaper came today, An Angel visited, This gray path, And took the cake away. |

Unless you just happened to be Charisma specced when the changes went to Sisi -- and you really wanted those SP to dump in to something else. It actually makes really good sense in that case.

If Connections is being refunded, I'll have about a week (~450k sp) refunded. If it's just the "named" connection skills, I'll get about... 4 hours back.
On another note, I really wish I got an isk refund for those skills. I paid ~70m for my Bureaucratic + Military connections books.
