I know there are 3rd party programs that can calculate how many light years it is to a certain system, but i would love to see it in the area of your where your waypoints are set on the screen. Also, It would be cool if you guys could put them on system info. to just like the how you guys got the "skill requirements" for ships and how long it will take for you to get into a ship, module, skill ....etc. etc.
would love your thoughts

1 lightyear is 63241.1 AU or 5878625 million miles or 0.306601 parsecs (means Han Solo found a shortcut apparently)

Maybe if you actually got in a capital ship you'd realise it DOES show you your jump range. |

Ssssshhhhhh... I'm having fun "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. Point A: i am here
Point B: my destination
If somewhere in around those blocks they would put the distance in LY from point A. to point B.
I am a cap pilot and im just suggesting an idea that could possibly be useful. |

There is a website I used back when I flew a carrier that gave me all this info + how much fuel it took but I forgot it "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. There's an in-game tool which sort of does this, albiet in a slightly useless way.
Go to the Esc Menu --> Shortcuts --> Window, and set a shortcut for "Open Capital Ship Navigation"
In the Capital Navigaiton window you get two options (Pretty sure you must be in a capital ship for it to even work)
First option shows you a list of starbase cyno beacons, the sec status of the system they're in, the fuel required to reach it, volume of fuel, distance in LY, and whether it's in range or not.
Second tab is "Within Range" and lists every single system your ship could potentially jump to (including all those details in the Jump To tab)
So using this you can find the exact distance to a particular system, but only if you can currently jump to it (ie useless for what you seem to want)
I wouldn't mind seeing a kind of compass rose on the star map, centred on your current location, with range ticks every 5 or so LY, and a dynamic circle intersecting your current destination (or sphere if unflattened). Green if you can jump there (within your jump sphere) and red if it's out of range. Showing the exact distance. Would be more useful than a giant list of every system you can jump to. |

If it's within your jump range, you don't really need to know if you plan to jump there anyway. Also, dotlan. Mining Barge buff: CCP-áhas acknowledged that miners in general-áare too stupid to make the correct fitting choices to make ganking them unprofitable. |

I saw this incredible thing in game called a capital navigation window a while back. It listed all sorts of crazy stuff like systems within your ship's jump range, how far away they are (in LY) and how much fuel would be consumed to reach it. It even showed the system's sec status and some other tidbits. This was last night and it's been there since the introduction of capital ships as far as I know. The Troll is trolling. |

Theoriticall this would also be useful for things like Planetary Interaction. When you're not in the same system as the planet you're managing, the resource precision depends on the distance, in lightyears, i think it's the remote sensing skill or whatever. Would be nice to know how far i'm out.

Actually, Han was messing with Luke's head. Parsecs are a measurement of time, not distance. Lucasfilm...umm...'Han'waved it b saying that he took a trip around the edge of a black hole and used its effects to gain a few seconds. |
